It has a pretty short life span, its not rebuildable and is prone to induce baffle/crown strike. I disagree with your m4 comment. Its not crap they work great... even better with 77gr bullets. As for your other weapon suggestions... There are better weapons out there, but the AR platform is a proven performer. Sure H&K are nice but they are not really better than any other production AR. If were talking gas impingement weapons. If your talking piston guns... thats a whole different story.

So why is the Marine sniper using a Barret 50cal for this? I know that at certain tiers snipers can select their weapon, but being an ex member of UK forces, I can honestly say none of the marksmen I know would select a .50 for this.
Anyone know why it was deployed here? Is it a new model being field tested or what?

Hey everyone, ain't the Barrett sniper rifle they show at the beginning of the video, an M82 instead of an M107. Both Barrett M82 and M107 look similar but one difference is the tip of the barrel. The tip of the barrel of the Barrett gun in the video is diamond shape looking. On the contrary, the tip of the Barrett M107 is more circular.

Another thing that bothers me is since Im a medic, I always notice people calling Corpsman Medics, if earned we are all 'Doc'. though we do the same job and as a matter of fact all health technicians are trained at Fort Sam Houston

Question though. Situation is they are engaging dismounted (except for 1 moped) enemy at 400 to 500 yds right?
So why is the Marine sniper using a Barret 50cal for this? I know that at certain tiers snipers can select their weapon, but being an ex member of UK forces, I can honestly say none of the marksmen I know would select a .50 for this.
Anyone know why it was deployed here? Is it a new model being field tested or what?

Just wondering thats all, because this rifle is a HELL of a lump to carry about! I know the US Marine EOD teams deployed with these in Iraq for sure, but not so sure about Afghan.
You seriously would not want to carry one of these on foot for long, thats why I suspect hes EOD or another role other than sniper. Hes not working in a standard fashion with a spotter either. Although that guy gives him range/wind info.

@gnark1ll1us Because they are big guys playing with the biggest toys possible. An UK army sniper had used the AWC PM (7.62mm NATO), accurate enough at 500 - 750 yards. But, hey ho... Let's do some noise! I think next time they'll use a TOW (or MILAN better, with wire guidance will make them think they are playing a videogame)

(former USMC?, then will know the meaning). So call attention on you, exposes all the people around to mortar fire, snipers, RPG, and more.
