She is in complete command of the A4 to B6 range, seamlessly producing a golden column of sound. Caballé is Amelia, mother and wife, pleading her case. The singer does not achieve the dramatic impact of Callas in this aria, especially in the coloring of vital phrases (l'unico figlio mio/moglie/madre/sugli occhi d'una madre). These are trifles, naturally, in light of this magnificent performance. Bravissima!!!
