musicians knew about jeff berlin..great bass player sure in jaco;s shawdow a bit--but back then who gave a shit if you were good and played great and put of good tunes...more power to you...and jaco aint a bad dude to be in proximity with...
This song really does give the feel of the workhorse Joe Frazier getting in the ring and getting busy for 15 rounds. The title is very appropriate, great music and a great fighter!!
@moffigreen Probably but it's more likely to be due to Mr Berlin's ideology on music education and the media's involvement around the music business. this is just my opinion... he's got an amazing school "the players school of music" in Clearwater, Florida. Very talented and unique bass player, still active and restless.
This is a hugely rocking track. All of these guys are legends. Berlin is absolutely on fire, but I love how Dave Stewart totally keeps up with him (and probably wrote the signature riff, a la Sample and Hold).
I always wondered if Dave Stewart made a mistake between 2:49-2:50. It sure sounds like a mistake, but sometimes these guys do that stuff on purpose just to mess with me.
I play bass and to play like Jeff takes an incredible amount of mastery and musical knowledge. Of all the instruments, the bass is the hardest to do this kind of playing on.
This has been flagged as spam show
just for extrapolation purposes, aand the year of our lord 2011,
if both joe frazier and micheal jackson's ghost haunted this place

@treetoptop Your fingers feel like your have been boxing after attempting to play this song on bass.
This song is a workout for the fingers too. Jeff has some amazing hands.
I got the solo (almost) down.

@generix83
It's Jeff Berlin. Emerged on the bass scene at the same time as Pastorius so no one knows about him.

@moffigreen
Damn, mid 70s then? Did he have the same bass sound and style back then?

Bruford Master Stroke!!
Berlin Incredible !!

Là encore, Bruford me fait penser, à la fin du morceau, à la fin de "Dinner Jacket", extrait de "Babel", de Philip Catherine...
