  • Wow, this is crap!

  • this is not halber mensch you ignorant. fijate antes de poner cualquier cosa en el titulo boludito de mierda ignorante.

  • Oh man, I think I'm in love.

  • I clearly remember seeing this band at the first time in austria somewhere in 1982... I first thought my ears gonna die tonight, so much noisy pain... but two weeks later I recognized the huge weight of art... the neubauten is one of the best bands from germany!

  • What is this crap?

  • this is so beautiful.

  • I thrived on this fuckin noise since early 80's...HELL YEA EN

  • who can dislike this music? wtf

  • My ears are burning!

  • these guys are too mainstream for my liking

  • @RetardGenius Je, typical Mainstreamradioshit :DD

  • il male

  • this is noise music!!!!!!!

  • Vanadium I Ching

  • Loslassen, Ruhe und Pause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this needs to be shown on prime time tv everyday. people need to be reminded of what music really is.

  • @ri394 well this is rather interesting form of art but hardly a music.

  • Bienvenue dans l'enfer industriel... E.N. toujours d'actualité !

  • This makes me want to go to a junkyard and beat the shit out of a broken washing machine with a lead pipe, and scream into a microphone while my band beats the shit out of other loud metal objects! Thank you for being so influential to me Neubauten!

  • @dellira Ja, man nennt.

  • That was fucking awesome, I wish I could see this band doing all that live lol

  • the hole-digging guy later left the band cuz they found it easier to playback his part in live performances. He should have a solo in this one though.

  • definitely better haircut than robert smith!

  • @krustt4 oh shut up Go to a Cure video if you need to express shit

  • I wonder what EN might've been like if they had released only live material; it'd certainly be noisier.

  • "Franz, you must dig ze hole."

"But Blixa, I don't WANT to dig ze hole..."

"FRANZ, YOU WERE LATE FOR ZE VIDEO, JA? SO NOW YOU DIG ZE HOLE!"

  • @steinber haha, LOLZ. good one ; )

  • I came.

  • This is fucking amazing. Industrial in every sense of the word!

  • I was 17 when I saw this video the first time. It changed my attitude to music... forever. Simply great!

  • @siliziumleben Same

  • This is terrifying... ominous...

  • Stihl chainsaws! woohoo! ; )

  • who needs rules to make great music? i love it

  • I don't know how people can say that black metal it's just noise.

If black metal is noise what is this??

  • @cCalamitaSs Their outlet for expresion!!

  • It's strange that the guy with the guitar is the one that seems out of place...

  • awesome!!!

  • Love this! It may be a part of Halber Mensch, but it is still an entity unto itself. A piece on the side of the road constructed from the road and its elements. A part of it all but still apart. to be no part of it. But still connected all the same. Isn't that all of us? More or less? Or less? less. Maybe.

  • This ain't from 1/2 Mensch, but from the Liebeslieder video documentary.

The title of the song is "Vanadium I Ching"

  • Reminds me of prepared piano except the rock version

  • This is the greatest song ever made.

    I think...

  • love this band.,Throbbing gristle etc..However there is a time when it all becomes a bit too much..,. being 'experimental' just for the sake of it..

singer does have a good haircut though..

  • WTF is that video O,o???

what that guy is screaming ?

and why the hell is that gui digging a hole² ?

  • 1. Avant-Garde/Industrial/Expiremental Music.

    2. Blixa Bargeld.

    3. Ir-relevant.

  • Jeezus, don't try so hard to understand this, you sound like a knob!

  • Absolutely great.

  • I love this song...

But I like Leztzes Biest better...

  • Why not dig a hole? Everything that is sound is potentially music. If you record it, you could use it. Everything has a pitch and tone and timbre even if it doesn't fit into the narrow definition of the masses of what that might be.

  • @iamguitarmutt But I mean, I can't HEAR THE DIGGING.

  • I agree, but I've come to realize that it doesn't even pay to hate mainstream music; it's all laughable, dismissable, shameful, and artistically weak. Why bother, I say.

  • @iamguitarmutt

Its not that it can't be used because it doesn't make a traditionally "musical" sound, its that Its not present in the song, I can't HEAR the digging sound. Thats what made me sad, I wanna hear the digging sound :c

  • @iamguitarmutt Was this played live? It must have been difficult to mic the bloke digging the hole?

  • @DarkMedievalTimes1 As far as I know, yes it is live and real. They loved playing and recording in random, site specific settings such as inside an autobahn overpass and a in a disused water tower. They use contact mics (mics that stick to things with tape essenitally) for the more unusual instruments such as the shopping cart in Zerstörte Zelle. Maybe it didn't work so well for the shovel.

  • @iamguitarmutt i love your response! its so true!:)

  • @iamguitarmutt timbres rule :)

  • @iamguitarmutt Here here! Hear!

  • @iamguitarmutt @steinber I was looking for this video, and found (so far) 2 version, but they are both cut short. When I saw this originally way back on Much Music, guy put something explosive in the hole and blew it up at the end. Must have been fricken stricken in this pansy post 911 world.

  • Berlin Atonal SO 36

  • this is so beautiful.

  • Why the hell is that guy digging a hole?

  • his grave.

  • I guess the vidio is just en excerpt of a full performance. Maybe later on the hole was used...

  • I got a million points on Word Dojo once.

  • The song is damn weird.. and you see immediatly that the singer was still using heroin at the time.. hehe.

  • wrong! he's never been into heroin. speed yes, though.

  • It's Cool, but I feel like I'm getting radio messages from aliens.

  • I agree with you word for word

  • Einztur... came from another planet :)

  • Great, isn't it? :D

  • l got a headache listening to this "masterpiece" for only a minute

  • yah i can appreciate that, i like it personally all the noises creating something, but like hah its not for every one i can definitely see how its not a "masterpiece" to every one, acquired taste maybe?

  • For me this is not music. Its sound, that sounds like music. In order to litsen to this kind of music one need to first get rid of what one usually call "music" and just appriciate this for what it is. Just as you can appreciate the sound of waves or the sound of birds (Btw, after litsening to noise I realized that fuck. Bird tweets sounds kinda like noise)

  • did you just call me a fuck lol?

(Btw, after listening to noise I realized that fuck. Bird tweets sounds kinda like noise)

  • @W4RW017 I have to disagree. If you look away from the distraction of the video you can easily discern a structure and coherence. This is a rather radical way to produce the sounds needed but it is music nonetheless.

  • sorry guys its a true masterpiece

  • Yes, it's Vanadium I-Ching and def NOT from Halber Mensch.

  • Wait, wait. To Clear up confusion, is this Vanadium-i-Ching?

  • Alles Luege,Alles Kaos,Alles Rausch,Alles Komme,Alles Menschenheit-sturmisch

  • Nice to see the near-spontenaity...but after a while such things become contrived. Einstürzende Neubauten may be a little pretentious but it is lost in the sheer art of it all...slytherchick.

  • hey i loved this - rare early E.N. but (just to be pedantic) it's not from the movie "Halber Mensch"

  • Comment removed

  • I don't get it...

  • Elitist? No, you just don't get it, and don't feel it. Nobody forces you to.

  • You don't like it, don't listen to it... Maybe think that they did music to express themselves, and not to please you,

  • @666Hellsing

This is even an odd song compared to what they are mostly doing. I think they just felt the need to do something off the beaten path, for a change. If you have an idea like this, perhaps a harp or a pan flute wouldn't do the job and then you visit a construction site, why not?

  • 666Hellsing thinks its "retarded" everyone, lets all pay attention!

  • 1 Neubauten > 10 000 American Idols!

  • @meshuggah2125 I think it's insulting to even compare them to that rubbish but I know what you mean.

  • Dude, Blixa looks so different in this video? Why?

  • In what way?

  • Like, look at his eyes and his forehead. They're so dark! Totally different from the Blixa I know. And geeze, he looks very, very skinny here. I definitely like him better like this, definitely.

  • He's darkened his eyebrows with make-up, he used to put eyeliner on one eye (I think it's the left in this) & that would make his eyes look strange. His hair's covering his forehead so I can't tell that looks dark. Also you have to remember this is about 1983 (I might be wrong) Blixa was a lot skinnier then. He's 50 now so he's just filled out over the years. If you follow him through his career, you'll see how his hairstyle has evolved from this video until now, hope this was helpful.

  • lol.

Yeah, I've seen him throughout his career from all the way from Kollaps. Just didn't knw that information, woah. This is from OT, he looks a lot more different from that all the way to Halber Mensch, which was only one more album from this.

  • I LOVE this!!! Sounds just like the elevator music I hear all day long in my head... that's when I don't hear "the voices" telling me to hurt myself and others... Haha... Much respect to Blixa Bargeld and EN.

  • I just saw halber mensch and this clip wasn't in it...

  • psychiartie für alle

  • beautiful :'(

  • this was the real startr to industrial music

  • Mesmerising-I mean that in a good way.

  • good drummer

  • this is bloody fucking brilliant! YESSSSSSS!!!.... i most certainly hav to hear more ooohhh give it to me ^_*

  • This video set me brain on fire.

  • there are some truly horrific fashion choices in this video.

  • there is no excuse for wearing those shoes with that outfit. no excuse.

  • Who may you be talking about?

  • Comment removed

  • Fits perfectly to the crazy direction of where the western civilisation is going

  • Mmm... Delicious noise.

  • it´s more than just music, it´s art,

    performance, a kind of theater...,

    expression, deconstruction, poetry,

    maybe prophecy...,

  • GrandWyatt: define music if you can.

  • Mr Wyatt, this clip shows a series of sounds put together to express a sensation and peformed theatrically to optimise the aforementioned effect in images thereby making it theoretically possible to double it. That's the best I can do with a hangover.

  • Very relaxing. For those sunday afternoon. Tokyo Hotel should have learn something from the Einstürzende Neubauten band.

  • Fantastic...My word is stopping...

  • if the world got destroyed and humans survived some how. this is what the first music of the post apocalypse would sound like.....and i fucking love it !!!!!!!!!

  • This is inspiring. EAT MORE HORSES!

  • This clip makes my eyes dilate! Love it. Scream, Blixa, scream!

  • Looks like the first musicians after the end of the world. kind of like when that monkey in 2001 picks up the bone and that's man's violent future, this could be man's musical future in "the next cycle"

  • Every time I go to the bathroom, a massive torrent of semi-fluid urine/diarrhea will come pouring out of my anus and encrust my chair, my pants, and my legs in a crusty orange paste. Then I will be fossilized to my chair until someone comes along who is brave enough to endure the reaking odor and to cross the fecal marsh of mush radiating from my stool dares to break his water...bucket over my head and peel away the festering refuse that caked me.

  • This is not Halber Mensch. In fact, it is not even halfway Halber Mensch ;-)

It is a track called "Vanadium I-Ching" from the album "Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T." (Drawings of Patient O.T.)

  • I think, its a video from the DVD "Halber Mensch", isnt it?

[I dont have this DVD, so im not sure, but its my only idea to this kinda problem]

  • Yep, I think the confusion lies in the fact that the video is called Halber Mensch but this track is Vanadium-I-Ching. In seeing the title "Excerpt from Halber Mensch" and no mention of Vanadium-I-Ching, I assumed it would be from the track Halber Mensch. Yes, I know... my incorrect assumption. Yet it seems other people were confused too. Anyway, a nice track :-)

  • great video and music

  • what?!

  • exelent!

  • This is possibly the coolest thing I've ever heard/seen. I love his voice so much.

  • Kollaps is the best...

  • "Schrei lauter / Schlag schneller / Bis zum Kollaps!" Kinda fits here too... So you'd have a Strategegien Gegen Architekturen Neubauten-style kind of taste, I presume...? Nicht schlecht, gar nicht schlecht :)

  • Strange thing about industrial is it indeed is deconstructive, anti-architecture, but the industrial images are still focussed on these pieces of construct. They're just in a state of collapse, or being destroyed. I'm really intrigued by them. They are true artists.

  • Its a shame really that they never got to go all the way and actually collapse a new building. That would have put pink floyd to shame.

  • das is yanadium-i-ching und nicht halber mensch

  • Agreed. Thought I would give a fuller reference in my posting above. Would have liked to post a direct URL to the official track listing and lyrics but can't post URLs in text answers like this on YouTube. The complete discography and lyrics is available on the official 'Neubauten website. Just google it :-)

  • Warum "Halber Mensch"-Titel?

Aber die Kapelle ist göttlich!!! Hatte ich fast schon vergessen. Danke für die Erinnerung! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

  • I love them. Blixa, were you??

  • I just discovered this band today, whats a really good album from them?

  • Halber Mensch or Tabula Rasa

  • absolutely Funf Auf Der Nach Oben Offenen Richterskala

  • This was first dance at my wedding.

  • I love you. Oh, and it sounds like a version of "Vanadium-I-Ching". Very different on the LP Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T., but extremely haunting in its own way.

  • What song is this?

  • this song gives me a boner

  • dbbubba, wtf are you doing here????

  • i would have actually loved being in this band back when they started :( brilliant Blixa and co.

  • There's so much that can be said about the brilliance of EN's ouvre, but all I can think of now is how adorable young Blixa Bargeld is.

I love his crazy Muppet hairdo.

  • Yes blixa bargeld is the frontman/singer... he is a genius. I agree it is insane and so am I. Haha. Blixa is about your age now. So you're not that old. Besides being 52 years old has nothing to do with it.

  • This is insane. I am a 52 year old man & I don't understand it. Who the hell is blixa?

  • maybe blixa bargeld is the frontman of einstürzende neubauten.

  • This music reminds me of Texas Chainsaw massacre! It's so fuckin' great. Blixa is a mad mother fucker!
