hey, do you have some problem with the 6th string? it's not really a big deal, I can prevent it but I'm just wondering if you have a little trouble with it.
@BravoGangUS08 like if you press the right fret but the game tells you it's not and shows the arrow pointing to the "right fret"...? probably it's just me or my guitar (when played softly it's good)
Hmm I think it may be the guitar. Maybe it needs to be restrung or adjusted.
I know that my guitar at times would not register a note properly, and would tell me I'm on the wrong fret but other times would work. Then I took it to a Guitar place to get it serviced and after I got it back, everything worked flawlessly.
I have also come across an issue when my cousin tried to use HIS electric guitar. (He was playing for the 1st time so the game made him go through that long setup in the beginning.)
At the tuning screen, it wouldn't even detect the strums for certain strings even though his guitar was tuned beforehand with an electric tuner.
@BravoGangUS08 You have to readjust the guitar, including the neck curvature and the bridge distance, the intonation is wrong, that's why it won't detect it, most music stores can do it for you.
I'm all for people learning to play the guitar, its an amazing instrument and a wonderful hobby. I just hope that it doesn't loose it's.....exclusivity or....uniqueness and becomes overrated. Won't stop me from continuing to play it though :)
Hey i have a question...I have my own electric guitars and if i want to buy this game, can i just buy the cord(s) and the game separately without having to buy their guitar?
man~the best thing abt Rocksmith is u can just plug in any kind of electric guitar u hav, as long the guitar only has six strings. I own a Fender starcaster guitar and I just plug in and play the game! so basically u only need to purchase the game. the game comes with the special cable for plug in to ur guitar. If u notice there is a audio lag. just use the RCA (red and white) cables through the tv. by doing so will solve the problem. hope u enjoy as much as i do! :)
This video was recorded the day I got the game. I am an amateur at guitar.
Also, there is no difficulty options. The game automatically sets the difficulty based on how well you can play. If you get better or are really good, it adds more notes. Once you are good enough, you are playing the whole guitar part
This is pretty cool. Took me a bit to understand how the hell to read the notes, but looks like they did a good job in designing it. Need to get dedicated to playing guitar again, so I think a video game is just the ticket!
You actually can use chords and hammer on ect... cool thing is it adjusts to your playing level. The better you do in a song the more notes it adds for you to play, the worse you do the less notes it adds. Very fun game!
The game DOES have chords, hammer-ons, slides, and other things like bends, tremolos, palm muting, harmonics.
The reason why you don't see much of that in this video is because the game adjusts automatically to your skill level. If you aren't very good yet, it will give you less notes and have you do less guitar techniques. As you improve it automatically adds more notes and gets closer to the real thing as you are playing
@BravoGangUS08 that's a terrible way to learn to play guitar. it's basically training you by teaching you all the wrong parts. yea try plain that same shit without the game, it probably sounds terrible. and does it teach feel? i very much doubt.
@ZazaCrunch god dammit! ppl watches ONE single fucking video and it already judges by it, he's like level 1 or somethn. it does have EVREYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PLAYING THE GODDAMN GUITAR! has like 30 tutorial videos for each technique and EVREYSINGLE FUCKING CHORD!,

@ZazaCrunch shut up you fucking shitface dont talk about somehting dont know anyhting about little fucker idiots like this make me want to strangle someone with anger FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
@ZazaCrunch defiantly not a waste of money, it has chords hammer-ons pull-offs slides, tremolos, bends, palm muting harmonics, and it gets harder as you play until your playing the whole song and then you unlock master mode if you play the song maxed out which makes you play it without anything being on the screen. This game is a great way to learn guitar or get better
Man I cannot wait for this to come out over here in England. Always wanted to learn to play guitar but could never afford the lessons plus I'm left handed. I wonder if they would ever bring one out for bass guitar
I'm going to be honest, I was very disappointed with the games set list. The only songs I enjoyed was Slither, the Eric Clampton song and I Miss You the rest sucked to me, it was more of pop kind of stuff instead of rock. But oh well that's my opinion I would take it to gamestop but their so cheap assed i wouldn't even get 10% of what I paid for it.
Wow man cool vid but learn the whole song first!! 58 thousand people watched you play through half of the notes of this song your sections at the top indicate that you have reached what would be considered "MEDIUM" difficulty on this song, kudos on the number of views on your video but man, put some effort into it and MAX out every phrase and then make a vid of you ripping every single note in the song the way it is meant to be rocked!!
Well I put this video up the day the game came out just to show people some gameplay of it. Honestly that is probably the only reason it has a lot of views...the fact that it was one of the first gameplay videos of it on Youtube (with splitscreen showing me playing it)
second: ....how the heck do you know what fret to play in? i get the struming, just not the frets.....ive been thinking on getting it, what do you think is it worth it?
The way you know which fret to play is by looking at the numbers that are scrolling down (such as the 3 5 7 and 9 that are scrolling in this video)
I personally think it is worth it. This game really helps teach you how to play guitar. I didn't know how to play guitar but now after having this game, I know how to play a few songs
I always wanted to play this song. Would my Rock Band Squier work with this when I get the cable (1/4" jack to USB) with it? Thanks in advanced. BTW, nice playing dude!
id recommend getting used to struming up and down, it goes a long way in playing guitar, especially with those tremelo notes, it will feel 10 times less straining on your forearm
Too many songs are locked out (like a game) and the free play is locked out too (has to be earned).Too bad for that. I was looking forward to just messing around in free play mode when first trying this program out. It too would be sweet if you could record what you play to a musical score, like some guitar program software does.
ive been playing for about 5 years and this game helped me learn songs just by playing it for one day at my buddies house it is weird getting used to but its so much fun and great for beginners, we all have to start somewhere, btw skyrim is the best game ever....
It seems though, that the notes played are not really what's in the real song. It seems like some rhythm notes just to get the player used to plucking the guitar to the song. This game doesn't offer difficulty levels, it adapts to the person's abilities and gets "harder" as time goes on, if the person is hitting the proper notes it's telling the user to hit. How can you learn to play the song if the proper notes are not displayed?
@caradepau06 yeah well ive been playing for a while so the notes that it does leave out i can pick up on them and figure the rest of the song out myself, the game teaches you the main part of the song, but the artists like to play little extra notes to add to the song that the game does not include.
@truekillings How is it Power Gig all over again? Power Gig didn't even teach you guitar. All it did was let you use the guitar to hit 5 notes like Guitar Hero.
@BravoGangUS08 because ppl r tripping\ that its something new and u cant learn from it and its a guitar hero rip off i have no problem with it i wanna pick it up my self but i have to wait
I don't like how people keep insulting this game off the video. THIS IS NOT GUITAR HERO. You don't just attempt to play and it goes ahead and plays the music anyways. You hear what you play. If you suck, you will hear it suck. It doesn't matter what your score is or that you can't "fail". If you learn a song on this game, you can take your guitar and plug it into an amp and play it
I recorded the footage of me with my camera, and the gameplay footage with my Hauppauge HDPVR.
Then I put both into Adobe After Effects. The gameplay gets layed on top of the camera footage, then I just crop out the parts from the gameplay I want to have showing
@BravoGangUS08 Thanks for the info, bro. And BTW, ignore the haters. Middle school BS if you ask me. Your vid convinced me to buy this, and I learned something from you too. Keep it up :)
not trying to be a jerk...turn off the tv and the knockoff of guitar hero, plug in a real amp, pick up some tabs or sheet music, then you will truly be learning...
@sigrestbrandon not trying to be a jerk, but don't insult someone or this game if you've never played it. I can say from experience that this game is incredible for teaching you guitar. He's not playing the full song (he doesn't have full mastery). There's a mode called riff repeater where you play sections individually (as you would from tabs) and it levels you up when you play them right. I mastered 4 complete songs in a few hours from it (RHCP, Muse, QotSA, RapScallions)
Actually, there's an option to invert the strings on the track. So the red string (Low E) will be on the bottom, so it's like reading a tab. Besides, if you forget how to read a tab Google is your friend.
@TheZalakar i think this song has Single Note, Chords, and Combination. The one I chose was combination ...though I wasn't good enough yet for it to give me chords lol.
@AcousticSerenity No you can not do Bass on this game as of right now. However they plan to release DLC in the future which adds Playable Bass Tracks to the songs
@RealMuchaka It does....it depends on your level that you get to...or you can just practice the riff in a little thing called riff master....alllows you to play the actual thing
@upgrader99 Wow, Master of Puppets is all downpicks except for the few gallops in the bridge. Look up videos cause apparently you don't know Metallica.
are you able to change the order the strings appear on-screen so that the 1st e string (the thinnest) appears at the top? also, does this game have Uplay?
nope, i like this song so i played it a lot, the game adjust the difficulty of the song on the fly, the first time you play is like just a note for every phrase, but the most notes you play right in a row the game will throw you more notes until you play the same exact thing as the guitar recording! is awesome , this song is harder on my gamesave
@chocotricks No it's not. However the game doesn't have difficulties like Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. The game automatically gets more difficult as you get better. So the better you get, the closer to the real guitar part you get.
Very cool stuff. Pro tip - learn to strum up and down (alternate strumming). Once you get into the "all down" habit, its very difficult to break, and severely detriments your progress.
@upgrader99 some songs, especially with Metallica REQUIRE just down strokes to keep the proper count and UMPH when palm muting. Get off your high horse.
@metalbullitt troll... lol lol... lol lol lol lol lol lol!!! Please link us to a video where Kirk Hammet is only playing down-strokes. Please - waste your time attempting to.
@upgrader99 the guy in the video is playing RHYTHM , i wasnt referring to lead guitar smart ass. Disposable Heroes is one with all down stroke riffing off the top of my head. after the intro some galloping is required. There is a need for constant down stroke in some songs if you know ANYTHING about guitar and playing metal you'll agree and go on your merry way.
I know how to play guitar.. And even with his playing it for 3 days I have learned 6 new scales and have improved all of my techniques! Rocksmith is the future of gaming in my opinion... Cant even wait for drumsmith. ;)
@gamemaster8814 Well, if you are referring to me then, i DON'T already know how to play a guitar. lol.
But anyway, this game would be fun even for someone who knows how to play. You can play along with the background music/vocals from the actual songs or you could just mess around with the numerous different amps and pedals they let you use in-game in the Amp Mode.
@gamemaster8814 dude i play guitar and trust me after buying this game ive gotten a million times more practice in than i normally do i played for about an hour a day if that now i play almost 3 to 4 hours a day now thats why we play rocksmith even if we already know how to play. does that answer ur question?
@gamemaster8814 i been playin for a good 5 years, nd idd get this game to see if its a good teaching tool, and like to try it out. also see how accurate and see what effects you can get. this is something new to gaming why not

@OuTrIgHtChAoS Best-selling guitar music game ever!

How did you do the split screen? Really great video helped me to see I want this!
glowzone 4 months ago
@glowzone
Thanks!
I recorded the footage of me with my camera, and the gameplay footage with my Hauppauge HDPVR.
Then I put both into Adobe After Effects. The gameplay gets layed on top of the camera footage, then I just crop out the parts from the gameplay I want to have showing
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
@BravoGangUS08 Thanks for the info, bro. And BTW, ignore the haters. Middle school BS if you ask me. Your vid convinced me to buy this, and I learned something from you too. Keep it up :)

not trying to be a jerk...turn off the tv and the knockoff of guitar hero, plug in a real amp, pick up some tabs or sheet music, then you will truly be learning...
sigrestbrandon 4 months ago
@sigrestbrandon not trying to be a jerk, but don't insult someone or this game if you've never played it. I can say from experience that this game is incredible for teaching you guitar. He's not playing the full song (he doesn't have full mastery). There's a mode called riff repeater where you play sections individually (as you would from tabs) and it levels you up when you play them right. I mastered 4 complete songs in a few hours from it (RHCP, Muse, QotSA, RapScallions)
OuTrIgHtChAoS 4 months ago
@sigrestbrandon i did play, for like 10 minutes..disliked it, and said my point in a comment
sigrestbrandon 4 months ago
guys this thing will make forget how to read a tab
MatKiller1197 4 months ago
@MatKiller1197
Actually, there's an option to invert the strings on the track. So the red string (Low E) will be on the bottom, so it's like reading a tab. Besides, if you forget how to read a tab Google is your friend.
MisterHumps 3 months ago
how did you get it to play lead when i play that song i can only play bass and rythm on it
TheZalakar 4 months ago
@TheZalakar i think this song has Single Note, Chords, and Combination. The one I chose was combination ...though I wasn't good enough yet for it to give me chords lol.
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
@BravoGangUS08 i'v picked single combo and combo2 and that gives me bass harder bass and rythm and i cant get it on lead for this song
TheZalakar 4 months ago
i really hope there would be "fury of the storm" and, "through the fire and flames" by dragonforce then this game would be the awesomist game EVER
herrera12100 4 months ago
I thought the layout was going to be very confusing but when I bought it it was very easy. It teaches you everything including how to hold a pick.
kabar5150 4 months ago
Is this game easy to comprehend? it looks confusing sort of,lol.
Joshwingingit64 4 months ago
@Joshwingingit64 Yah it is easy to understand especially when you are experiencing it in person
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
i wonder if you can do bass with it. my wife is wantin to learn
AcousticSerenity 4 months ago
@AcousticSerenity No you can not do Bass on this game as of right now. However they plan to release DLC in the future which adds Playable Bass Tracks to the songs
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
Does it get harder than this? I hope it does.
RealMuchaka 4 months ago
@RealMuchaka It does....it depends on your level that you get to...or you can just practice the riff in a little thing called riff master....alllows you to play the actual thing
mstrchief24 4 months ago
@RealMuchaka Yes it does. This was done on the 1st day of having the game so it was still far from the actual guitar part.
As you get better, the gameplay gets more difficult until finally you are playing the actual guitar part of the song.
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
this sucks so much. confusing shitty graphical layout. Also, very bad idea for a game. Nobody will ever learn to play the guitar on this game.
kilipeti 4 months ago
@kilipeti This is a music game asshole the graphics dont give a shit and i learned 2 whole songs thanks to this game so fucking shut up motherfucker

DigitalPimpSlap 4 months ago
@DigitalPimpSlap Yes you can change the order. I don't know from experience but I saw someone's video on youtube have the strings in the other order.
Not sure about Uplay though
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
how do you get this song cuz wikipedia neither the website has it in the list
Connorslamevideos 4 months ago
@Connorslamevideos It's an on-disc song
I just checked Wikipedia as well, and it IS on the list there
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
@BravoGangUS08 well then i must be blind
Connorslamevideos 4 months ago
is this the highest difficulty? I hope not
chocotricks 4 months ago
@chocotricks
nope, i like this song so i played it a lot, the game adjust the difficulty of the song on the fly, the first time you play is like just a note for every phrase, but the most notes you play right in a row the game will throw you more notes until you play the same exact thing as the guitar recording! is awesome , this song is harder on my gamesave
banysalazar 4 months ago
@chocotricks No it's not. However the game doesn't have difficulties like Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. The game automatically gets more difficult as you get better. So the better you get, the closer to the real guitar part you get.
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago
@BravoGangUS08 oh That sounds really cool, Ill diffidently probably pick this up after I get money or it drops like 20 bucks aha
chocotricks 4 months ago
@BravoGangUS08 does it have the lead version too, or just rhythm?
Theninja114 4 months ago
Learn how to alternate pick.
godlikecharacta 4 months ago
Very cool stuff. Pro tip - learn to strum up and down (alternate strumming). Once you get into the "all down" habit, its very difficult to break, and severely detriments your progress.
upgrader99 4 months ago
@upgrader99 some songs, especially with Metallica REQUIRE just down strokes to keep the proper count and UMPH when palm muting. Get off your high horse.
metalbullitt 4 months ago
@metalbullitt troll... lol lol... lol lol lol lol lol lol!!! Please link us to a video where Kirk Hammet is only playing down-strokes. Please - waste your time attempting to.
upgrader99 4 months ago
@upgrader99 the guy in the video is playing RHYTHM , i wasnt referring to lead guitar smart ass. Disposable Heroes is one with all down stroke riffing off the top of my head. after the intro some galloping is required. There is a need for constant down stroke in some songs if you know ANYTHING about guitar and playing metal you'll agree and go on your merry way.
metalbullitt 4 months ago
Rocksmith is a game changer...There I said it.
I expect the base update to be available soon in DLC..as they said.
I hope the DLC comes in several types for various interests.
Metal, Punk, Rock, Country and Classics
If and when GH comes out with their reboot...they will now have
to deal with the fact that Rocksmith has raised bar and anything less
will do poorly.
fatherrock1 4 months ago
I know how to play guitar.. And even with his playing it for 3 days I have learned 6 new scales and have improved all of my techniques! Rocksmith is the future of gaming in my opinion... Cant even wait for drumsmith. ;)

I'm looking forward to getting this game. To help me with my guitar skills.

Why would u buy this game if u already know how to play a guitar?
gamemaster8814 4 months ago
@gamemaster8814 Well, if you are referring to me then, i DON'T already know how to play a guitar. lol.
But anyway, this game would be fun even for someone who knows how to play. You can play along with the background music/vocals from the actual songs or you could just mess around with the numerous different amps and pedals they let you use in-game in the Amp Mode.
BravoGangUS08 4 months ago 5
@gamemaster8814 dude i play guitar and trust me after buying this game ive gotten a million times more practice in than i normally do i played for about an hour a day if that now i play almost 3 to 4 hours a day now thats why we play rocksmith even if we already know how to play. does that answer ur question?
666DUDEMETAL 4 months ago
@gamemaster8814 i been playin for a good 5 years, nd idd get this game to see if its a good teaching tool, and like to try it out. also see how accurate and see what effects you can get. this is something new to gaming why not
