who cares about what clothing line he's wearing..these guys were, and are, still masters at what they do..and they've always had a massively huge sound
They were one of the hardest sounding bands in the 80s. when alot of so called metal bands were getting softer in the 80s with more ballads like bon jovi and ruining hard rock living color was staying true to its metal roots and not selling out there music or their fans. They were underated but a very solid band and worth listening to.
I forgot how much this song rocked. Never mind Corey Glover doing the Axl Rose thing with the Spandex shorts and all. And it was one of those songs like "In The Air Tonight" that didn't really get coast-to-coast airplay until about 5 years or more after it came out. I still can't remember the title, but damn, it's worthy for anyone's MP3 permanent collection.
my god imagine if Corey rocked up for american idol, winner on day 1 by a country fuckin mile. In fact, I am feel disgraced to mention Corey and that tracsy show in the same sentence
this is one of the last displays of great music play ed live in the 20th century. Real subject mattter, soulful performance. real human performance, no computers...
as good as it gets. yo, was there an off-stage 2nd guitar player or a pre-recorded track? the solo crossfades into and out of the rhythm guitar. 3:12, 3:16. and there's 2 guitars @ 3:32-3:35. wtf?
They were playing over the studio track which is why you hear Vernon's rhythm guitar behing the solo. Either way, that's Living Colour in their prime. Saw them that year in a bar in Orlando, great show.
I remember back in the day, one of my metal head friends said "Damn those boys can play, hey Daniel, how come black guys can only rap?!"
I must have laughed for an hour or two until he threatened to beat me up, I hated telling him these guys were black, he didn't believe me for like two months until I showed him on MTV. He hated me after that and swore they were lip singing!!!! They rocked and still do, who cares if they are black!!
LOL. That's a wetsuit he has on. Body Glove made surfer and scuba suits. They were kind of his obsession. In 1990, they appeared live on MTV's new year's party and he had a tuxedo made out of the same material!!!!
This song is one of my Favs from Vivid. I can't say they are underrated, they kick ass as far as I'm concerned. Being comercially viable or not doesn't deter from the pure awesomeness that the band has. But on the other hand they do deserve more reconition
they are...so very underrated...hell they are the black Van Halen...and believe me blimy....ppl who know music know the "pure awesomeness" of this band...but maybe they couldn't write anything beyond this...I remember an agent saying to me that you spend your first 20 years writing your first album...then you have 6 months to write your next...it's a tough business...but damn this fucking band was good..and if they ever come around NE PA...I'm fucking there!!!!
Living Colour deserved so much more than what they recieved in their prime. For instance, look how well the band is put together, listen to how raw Corey's voice is, listen to the lyrics in each of their songs, they actually mean something. These guys could have been huge. Look what we've let go of, they deserved so much more.
I agree. The problem, and I hate to say this, is they were black in a white world. The same problem exists with white people in Hip Hop. The music business is very racist.
Just curious, why mention 50 cents with living colour? 50's is hip hop, Living Colour is Rock in it's purest form, and of course they didn't get the props they so richly deserved.
@takeawaybenji Everybody uses the term "Rockstar" not just hip hop artist. It makes no sense to mention the two in the same decade, let alone sentence.
The vocals sound live but the rest of the band sounds pre-recorded. @1:54 it sounds unusually double tracked. Vocal performance is awesome though. You can tell thats not pre-recorded.
A flawless performance of my favorite LC tune! The solo section is awesome! Gives me chills up and down my spine! Every member of this band were top notch players and Corey is so powerful with that Gospel tinged style that is so unique!
i agree Corey could perform this in a speedo..nude i was thinking..he's so sexy and intelligent gawd!!! if there were more men like this I wouldnt be single..
It's so funny how people focus on clothes or hair etc on a lot of these clips.Frankly Corey could have sang it in a pair of speedos and it would be alright HA HA. I agree with you about it being a great song.

I remember myself and my brother went to see Anthrax supported by Living Colour in London back in 1989 [I think], they were touring Vivid.
Living Colour finished their set....we looked at each other, thought ' will it get better than that?', decided it wouldn't......and we left.
Awesome band.
