@PHILLE564 Bv S206 was developed 30 years later as an attempt to make use of the concept the Russian machine Vityaz pioneered.
It's an amateur copy, good to cross your front yard, but it would not stand a chance chasing Vityaz through the Russian off-road - you would need an helicopter for that.
I swear this is what they use in the Arctic and i thought they were called snow cats or ice cats something like that although that may be there nickname.
@Kongfoobadger 'snowcat' was just a nickname and the British Army among others used the BV-206 which superceded the older Volvo BV 202.I know because i worked on them in the UK and on exercise in Norway, just Great Memories now of good mates. However being glassfibre, they arent indestructable and in a tragic accident in Norway between a BV-206 and a truck emerging from a road tunnel , the BV was near destroyed and its full compliment of passengers were badly injured and some were killed.
@timgames they actually did that sometimes during winter in Germany: Last winter even snow plows, unimogs and other trucks didn't manage to go through the snow on the freeway, or also in the city: They rescued drivers that were stuck and transported food to the people since shops couldn't open (or if they were able to do so noone made his way there). Finally they also transported ambulance crews and so on - in the city
@carsbask it actually the same like the Bandvagn 206 (Hägglund), which is fully amphibious, it can be used in snow and bog-lands, sand, rocky beaches and forests. Since it can get transported also with planes, it can be used anywhere. Works also at -40°C, it just goes further where you actually think that no vehicle, also not a Unimog, would be possible to further on. Very useful for rescue works
@EnjoyFirefighting that's where the similarity ends, BV206 and BVS10 weighs in at 5 tonnes, this ATTC is two times heavier at 15 tonnes, which translates into a bigger capacity and heavier payload.

Personally, gimme an old surplus M548. That's better than this shit, and cheaper.
