George Bush really brought out the worst in Gore Vidal. But it's always funny watching him bash that idiot we had to call a president for 8 years. Anything he says about Bush isn't harsh enough, in my opinion.
@DaHonestAbe Perhaps he brought out the most honest? I believe he was right about George W. Bush (I also have a sense you agree), he was just blunt. I agree to some degree though.
When was this interview done. Mr. Vidal is still a handsome gentleman although I think he is full of nonsense. Mr. Vidal was a frequent guest on Jonny Carson. A decline in American culture that Mr. Vidal is moe often on the bbc or canadian tv.
In my next life I want to be Gore's passionate lover. The man can turn a shapely phrase like no other, the finest, grandest, damndest ink-stained scribbler of the age. To watch him discharge a round of shrapnel at the knuckle-dragging merchants of war is bliss. There he stands in the evening of his lengthening life, half embittered, half amused, bestriding the American republic like a literary colossus. But is he going to retire from the stage in quiet resignation? Bosh! Stick it to 'em Gore!
Anybody whose dumb enough to think anyone else's personality is governed entirely by his sexual taste is insane. SO TRUE

Great way to spend half an hour. Look out for the the wonderful put-down remark about Carson not needing notes. Vidal is a treasure.

@michaels7 He is also, despite his reputation for acerbic-ness, remarkble courteous.
