The thing for me is that I never would have heard this amazing song if it weren't for American Pie, but, at the same time, after really listening to the song and loving it, the particular scene it was used for in American Pie doesn't seem to justify such a beautiful and meaningful song. I like the movie, it's just the song is too powerful for the scene. I didn't get the song's true impact when I watched the movie.
