Hmmm, see i need to be updating my rack badly. I mean, im still carrying around a twin cd player, i dont use, after flipping over to the use of my laptop. I also need to get rid of my Peavy 1500, after like an hour of use, its over heating....and that is a pain in the backside. This does look to be the amp for me though :)
I agree with jigubao, these digital amps with their bloated watt per channel just sound shallow with no imaging. I started with digital and wen't to analog amplification. The weight says it all. Sorry, but these are a joke, in my opinion, get a vintage stereo receiver and you will hear the difference. I just don't get these thousands of watts what sound like they have no balls, even on youtube. Do a search on vintage Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer and you will hear the diffennce. Thanks.
What type of mixer did you use for this video? It looks to be an American Audio Q-SD. Also, how would you rate the Crown XTi series amps? I have not herd much about Crown (have used QSC for a wile) and now I am looking at getting a new/lighter amp.
yess brian it is true, thousand of watts BUT,digital amp have problem that his buss level is weak that is the reson you need all this watts.. give me good old transistor amp 200watt 8ohm per channel and will blow anything....
sir just help me...can u pls make a video demo step by step ...h connect a amp. to speaker to mixer and to other device....and i like to know how its working all my 6 amps at the same tym..U kwon wat i min...the LOW,MID.HIGH PASS....TNX...ill wait for ur video....tnx a lot,,,,
sir have a good day...im a filipino...hwo wants to learn lot more about sound system...i have 2pcs Crown Ce4000 And 3 Qsc...but i dont know how to conect to my audio mixer...23 chanel....i like to all on and operating in a one tym...like i saw in and other Sound system Comapny...wat can i do...at the back of my amp there is a speak on out put...and i saw it that have also chanel 1 and 2...and also link 1 and 2...i cant. understand pls help me...coz im new on this kind of business...tnx
Brian. Im looking to replace my amps I have right now.(they work well ...Just heavy dino's ) How are the crown amps working for you ??They may be what I end up getting ..I'de love to be able to drop the crossover out and just run the amps...let me know how there doing for you and if youve had any Issues...thanks
well i love the xti series, cos they are very efficiant and the xti6000 can work on a normal wall outlet were as most 6000watt amps have to have a cooker switch, in other words run of a very high amperage
man i dont wanna turn you down or anything but i used to own technical pro amps and they SUCKED compare to amps like these... if you are looking to buy top top quality amps go with the crown I-Tech series they are the best wayy better than xti. However xti amps are great too but by far not the bast amp out there. QSC amps are great too they are a very reliable brand and one of my favorites. As far as qsc goes...go with powerlight 3 or plx series they are kick ass.
Yea I know exactly wat u mean...I have a TP amp n it shouldnt even be called an amp...I bought it planning to upgade soon...Guess any Crown or QSC will kick a TP's ass....What shud i go with Crown or QSC? andd what about peavey?
I dont realy have any experience with peavey so i cant tell you much but i would say qsc and crowwn are probably better. Qsc is my favorite over all amps. I work for a professional live sound company and we use qsc powerlights. now if you are looking for a shit load of power then go with the qsc pl380 it is 8000w. look at the plx and powerlight 3 series from qsc dont go with the rmx series they dont use powerlight technology. so go with qsc powerlight 3 series if you have the money for them.
well first off any amplifier made by qsc or crown are pretty good. I never liked gx too much because they were only 500w per channel and didnt use powerlight technology so they have transformers and are very heavy. i am huge about powerlight technology i probably wont buy an amp without it. if you dont know the difference between a regular amplifier and a powerlight technology amplifier i would be happy to tell the difference.
yes crown amps are stable at 2 ohms. crown amps are amazing when it comes to ohms tho. they are said to be safe with any load without having problems. even on the specs of crown amps it says "safe with any load" i tested crown i-techs at 1/2 of an ohm even clipping the amp with no trouble. crown tested the i-techs at 1/4 of an ohm with no trouble. i-tech by crown is way better than xti and worth the price.
man thanks for this video i have a question if i conect my pc to use the system arquitect it must be conected or plug it when im using the amplifire or i cant unplugg later i set the levels and the proces and limits ???
Heres tip a portable rack on wheels that can be easily carted around and it wont even strain the back! Therefore you can pack more POWER in the racks. Separates rule self-powered sucks because I like too customized if needed.
If you want to locate some of the offending Gremlins play sine waves in the lower department, it will take hours that will lead into days. The tones have to be played at reasonable safe level and use ear plugs dont try and be hero because sine wave will bugger your hearing up at high SPL dB.
Passive generates a degree of distortion active crossovers less and this why THX cinemas use active!
5:40 thing is you dont want house rattle that is the sign of poor sound system! You only want to hear/feel the sound system otherwise rattles/buzzing sounds will distract you or a critical listening golden-ear.
Empire Leicester Square screen 1 London is fully installed JBL cinema in all screens. Screen is boasts a 56KW THX certification over its original 13KW JBL JBL 6290 amps THX sound system.
Today its
5x JBL Custom Screen Array each fed by 1x Crown CTs2000 and 1x Crown CTs3000 Amplifiers
16x JBL 4645C Sub Bass fed by 8x Crown CTs 3000 Amplifiers
42x JBL 8340A Surround Loudspeakers individually driven and time-aligned from 6x Crown CTs8200 8-Channel Amplifiers
You said that you could run another set of speakers to get more power by taking them down to 4 ohms. However, you are doubling the speakers so at 4ohms and 800 watts, each of the four speakers will get 400 watts vs. 475 to each of two 8 ohm speakers. That info. is per a JBL technician that I spoke with this week.
Hey Brian Have a question for you.Being that you have the Xti 4000 would i be able to use one channel on 4ohms for Mid & Highs and the second Channel on 8 ohms subs with a crossover . would the amplifier work fine.
Hey man, Enjoyed your video. I just got the Crown Xti-1000. I have a passive subwoofer (TUBA24) and 2 Tapco Thumps. I am having a hard time figuring out how to connect these...feedback appreciated.
If something could go wrong something will go wrong...keep it simple brian trust me,when your on a gig the last this you need is somthing going wrong.
I have 2 JBL SRX722s and 1 JBL SRX728. I am planning on using a Crown XTI 6000 for the 2 tops and a Crown XTI 4000 for the sub. Could you maybe put up a video or respond back with how to set up the amps in system architect with the JBL presets provided or maybe some custom settings?
For input? What you can do is get a set of custom RCA to XLR cables. Either search for them on Ebay or check out your local gear shop to see if they do custom work. Basically, that takes things from balanced to unbalanced which I personally don't think is a great idea, but yeah you can do it.
hey brian, ihave a xti2000 and want to use one side for my low(PV SP118 Passive 8 ohms 2400 w capacity). will it be able to handle the PV, and if it does will the other side handle my 2 tops(JBL JRX 125. HELP!!!
You CAN, but I wouldn't recomend it. You'd be putting an 8 ohm load on one side and a 4 ohm load on the other which is never a good idea.
Also, you are looking at 1200 watts PROGRAM for the PV SP118 and the XTi 2000 only gives you 475 watts per side @ 8 ohms, so you would be underpowering your sub in a BIG way which probably will eventually damage it....
What I would do is pick up ANOTHER 2000 (or better yet, a 4000). Run the PV SP118 bridge mono on 1 amp which will give you 1600 watts @ 8 ohms (400 watts top end) on the 2000 (or 2400 watts with the XTi 4000 which is 100% top end)
With the other XTi2000, run your top cabs stereo 4 ohms which would give you 800 watts per side (300 top end per side).....
Also, what I said in the first part was wrong. If you tried to run things the way you want, you would be putting an 8 ohm load on one side and a 2 OHM LOAD ON THE OTHER WHICH WILL BLOW SOMETHING UP!! DON' T DO IT!
hey guys, this is awesome. i'm thinking of getting the Crown XTi 1000 for my band. i'm a drummer and we don't have any bottom end right now...ZERO subs....i have a question: we were going to get two Peavey PV118 Subwoofers . will the Crown XTi 1000 drive both subs in bridge mono? i'm confused on how that works. those 2 subs will handle 400 watts a piece so we would need 800 watts total. so this crown would be great if it would drive both at 1000 watts! will it?
Yeah that'll actually work. If you run your subs bridge mono paralel, you'll dip the XTi1000 down to a 4 ohm load. This will give you a total of 1400 watts. So, you end up with 600 watts top end.
If I were you, I would think about something even bigger, though. if you spent a few extra bucks and got the XTi 2000, you'd get 2000 watts in Bridge Mono 4 ohms which would give you 1200 watts TOP END! When it comes to Subs, the more top end, the better IMO
thx. well we went with the 1000 right now and are going to test today to see how it is. we don't play at large venues so i'm hoping this will do for us in the smaller club scene etc etc. i mean, we usually have to turn down anyway. we're just looking to have some "thump" coming through our two peavey 18" subs! until today, we've had zero subs and zero thump so you think this would be pretty good? we only play for like less than 300 people normally.
i got one of these driveing my subs in my home theater 4 avalanch 18's with 27mm of x max and a fs of 17hz. the subs weigh 50 pounds each and the wall i bult my ib into moves. and this is bareley turned up.
Thanks for helping me out...but i got 1 last question... IF I connect my 18'' Peavey SUB woofer"BASS" to my CROWN amp, will it burn my sub? or do i need to get a Crossover so i wont have no problems burning my sub??????? i know it would sound way better, but dont care about that, i just dont want to burn my SUB
Our school has an XTi 1000 running in 70v mode to an EV speaker outside for our football games. Could I bring my laptop (since I'm the guy that does the music for the games) and hook it up to my laptop and perhaps have an on screen graphic EQ?
Nice stuff brah. I need some help. I just bought a Peavey 18" SUBWOOFER @ 400 8ohms. and im thinking of buying a CROWN XLS-802 , would this power up my sub good? or would my blow up my sub?
i do like powered speakers because they are more convenient but i realized i do not want to use them for all my gigs. I use the mackie c 300 z passive, with peavey 2600 watt amp, and sound amazing for top end. If the powered speaker has any problem you screwed. If the speaker goes you have to send it back, and you cannot use the amp. If the amp goes you cannot use the speaker. Thats why I like passive much better.
I use Crowns for my Guitar Setup. I'm probably the only one known that does this and I don't no why people don't it produces a clean sound probably one of the best amps known to man and are very interesting. I have been looked at funny when I say I run crowns they ask me your a DJ or bassist. I say guitarist and they are like ummm, Wow what does this sound like
brian, I just picked up a Crown XTI 1000 amp. Haven't had a chance to check it out, because after I got it home, I realized I needed Speakon and XLR adapters. My old amp used 1/4 inch plugs.
I actually have banana plugs, but crown decided to put the banana plugs on the top of the speaker out. On the plugs I have, the cable kinda goes in from the side, at an angle, to the banana ends. Because crown put their holes so close to the amp back wall, they are too close for the cables to really fit.
So, I just got 2 speakon adapters, and they work great.
I hope you know power means nothing in terms of output even with matched speakers. If your speakers take that much power, you better be powering a bunch of smalelr speakers, not a few large ones. Eating up that power, they must be inefficient and reaching into power compression.
depends on how serious you are about NOT burning out speakers... have an amp twice the rated power of the speakers, and you will not burn out speakers... having amps matched to the wattage of the speakers will fry equipment, worse thing you can do - amp that is way undersized for the speakers. I run racks of crown macro-tech 5002's
best part is the crossover and seein that its 3200W bvridged, couldent imagine hooking my 1500W RMS technical pro sub up, this amp is my dream, yet lookin at the 4000W crown, tell me your thought on which crown s best and worth most for power thx, and great amps dude! -jay
I WANTED TO BUY A PEAVEY 2000 CS CLASS FOR BASS AND 2 PEAVEY PV 900 FOR MY TOP ENDS.
NOW WATCHING THIS VIDEO OVER AND OVER I HAD A CHANGE IN HEART AND WILL STILL BUY THE PEAVEY 2000SC CLASS BUT WILL REPLACE DOES TWO PEAVEY 900 WITH THIS CROWN Xti 2000 AND USED IT FOR TOP END MOST OF THE TIME BUT FROM TIME TO TIME TRY IT ON BASS.
hey man thanks for the video it is awesome, i just got a crown XTi 4000 to power the 2 jbl jrx 125's and 2 jbl jrx 118 and it is awesome it is a great amp, your viedo helped with some questions had so thanks and keep it up
Hey brian if I buy two of these crown xti 1000, one for top cabs and 1 for subs would I need an external crossover like the bbe maxx 2 (2 -way crossover and sonic maximizer in 1) or would I just need to buy a regular sonic maximizer. Since these crown amps have the crossover built in. Would it still be good to use my eq. even if the crown amp has one too.
I would like to help you out with your crwn amp question: If you bought two xti 1000 amps you can run one for subs and one for mains with no problem at all, also you wont need to buy a crossover, these amps have them built in. even if you have a eq you can still use them with these amps, I run all crown amps with my system and these amps have worked GREAT for me. if you have any crown questions at all please feel free to send me any questions Id love to help. Corey
ok i need your help on how to set my xti4000 amp. i have one amp and i have one sub runing from ch1 and i have two 2way speakers runing from ch2. so how do i set it on my amp to were i have only bass coming from the sub and have all my high and mid coming from my 2way speakers?
hi could you show me how to set it up using the xti 4000 and the xti 2000. the 4000 running the bass bins and the 2000 running the tops with the crossover in use Thanks Neil from the Uk
your welcome, i learnt it after a few videos because id always catch myself looking at the screen instead of the lense, eventually you get used to it, keep up the good work
If you put the wrong load on them, yeah they will get hot. If you run them with the speaker configs you're suppose to run them with, they stay pretty cool
thats awsome. I got the 4000. I think im gonna put an MRX518 on each side. 1200 into each sub. I'm gonna turn my basement into a club lol that is until I can get back to DJ-ing. I miss it so much I can't even describe. What do you think of the JBL mrx sub's bri? I'd like to get as many opinions on them as possible before I get a pair. Anybody else that has them also feel free to message me on them, I'd love for as many opinions as possible. Keep up the good work and Vid's Bri!
So when you will be showing your new amplififers the crown amplififers four thouse and two thouse crown amplifiers.Where did you bye you am in new york?
yeah so u could buy two xti4000s and set the x-over frequency for both amps at 90hz and use channel A on both amps for the mains and use channel B on both amps for the lows (subs).. idk y u would want to do that though?? i guess for a live sound engineer it would give u more flexability for what u use the amps for. what do u think??
If you are running mono, yeah. One channel could be highs & mids and another channel can be sub.
However, as I demonstrated in the video, if you try to just run your subs & top cabs paralel, the internal passive crossovers of your speakers allow a LOT of bleeding of other signals
The video on crown amplifiers was very go i love it when you show the different between why use crossover.I all wouder about that think for showing this video.
Thanks for the video,I am thinking about replacing an old ce-2000 that i had all kinda problems with. Was wondering what power equal would be ,the 2000 or the 4000?
Awesome. That is a lot of power. Reminds me of the speakers in the back of the car days. I like the fact that you can adjust all those settings on the amplifer. Keep up the good work.
I picked up 2 jbl prx635's self powered speakers and I have an xti 2000 running 2 12" sub's with tag mclaren pre amp and all i can say is GULP :))

I really like these amps. I have them running 2 JBL MRX 528's at bridged mono and they sound great.
gguillo 2 years ago

I have not herd much about Crown (have used QSC for a wile) and now I am looking at getting a new/lighter amp.

well i love the xti series, cos they are very efficiant and the xti6000 can work on a normal wall outlet were as most 6000watt amps have to have a cooker switch, in other words run of a very high amperage

I got one of those and Im planing to use it with 2 CV18'' is one of theme able to move all the way this woofers.

IF You Could list Me all the dj Amp Brands in Order from (best sound quality) to (least sound quality and performance)...how would that list read?
and where would technical pro be found in that list???
Pleassee....
RMIND14 2 years ago
man i dont wanna turn you down or anything but i used to own technical pro amps and they SUCKED compare to amps like these... if you are looking to buy top top quality amps go with the crown I-Tech series they are the best wayy better than xti. However xti amps are great too but by far not the bast amp out there. QSC amps are great too they are a very reliable brand and one of my favorites. As far as qsc goes...go with powerlight 3 or plx series they are kick ass.
kijifled2 2 years ago
Yea I know exactly wat u mean...I have a TP amp n it shouldnt even be called an amp...I bought it planning to upgade soon...Guess any Crown or QSC will kick a TP's ass....What shud i go with Crown or QSC? andd what about peavey?
RMIND14 2 years ago
I dont realy have any experience with peavey so i cant tell you much but i would say qsc and crowwn are probably better. Qsc is my favorite over all amps. I work for a professional live sound company and we use qsc powerlights. now if you are looking for a shit load of power then go with the qsc pl380 it is 8000w. look at the plx and powerlight 3 series from qsc dont go with the rmx series they dont use powerlight technology. so go with qsc powerlight 3 series if you have the money for them.
kijifled2 2 years ago
or the GX series, they are nice
rotel1080man 2 years ago
well first off any amplifier made by qsc or crown are pretty good. I never liked gx too much because they were only 500w per channel and didnt use powerlight technology so they have transformers and are very heavy. i am huge about powerlight technology i probably wont buy an amp without it. if you dont know the difference between a regular amplifier and a powerlight technology amplifier i would be happy to tell the difference.

hi, would like to ask if the Crown XTI series are stable at stereo 2 ohms. hope to hear some comments...thanks.
GGchua 2 years ago
not sure, check out crowns website!
robjcrowston 2 years ago
Hey GGchua,
yes crown amps are stable at 2 ohms. crown amps are amazing when it comes to ohms tho. they are said to be safe with any load without having problems. even on the specs of crown amps it says "safe with any load" i tested crown i-techs at 1/2 of an ohm even clipping the amp with no trouble. crown tested the i-techs at 1/4 of an ohm with no trouble. i-tech by crown is way better than xti and worth the price.

2:40 sensitivity levels not volume knobs, you do not need an external x-over? EQ? with these amps?

The amplifier has an onboard x-over. I parralell my subs and f/r at 2 ohms and it runs like a dream.

You said that you could run another set of speakers to get more power by taking them down to 4 ohms. However, you are doubling the speakers so at 4ohms and 800 watts, each of the four speakers will get 400 watts vs. 475 to each of two 8 ohm speakers. That info. is per a JBL technician that I spoke with this week.

lumboo83 3 years ago
is there an adapter or something i can get so this can receive those red and white rca cables?
ChiTownRuler023 3 years ago 4

HELP!!!
chuyrod883 3 years ago
You CAN, but I wouldn't recomend it. You'd be putting an 8 ohm load on one side and a 4 ohm load on the other which is never a good idea.
Also, you are looking at 1200 watts PROGRAM for the PV SP118 and the XTi 2000 only gives you 475 watts per side @ 8 ohms, so you would be underpowering your sub in a BIG way which probably will eventually damage it....
briansredd 3 years ago
What I would do is pick up ANOTHER 2000 (or better yet, a 4000). Run the PV SP118 bridge mono on 1 amp which will give you 1600 watts @ 8 ohms (400 watts top end) on the 2000 (or 2400 watts with the XTi 4000 which is 100% top end)
With the other XTi2000, run your top cabs stereo 4 ohms which would give you 800 watts per side (300 top end per side).....
briansredd 3 years ago
Also, what I said in the first part was wrong. If you tried to run things the way you want, you would be putting an 8 ohm load on one side and a 2 OHM LOAD ON THE OTHER WHICH WILL BLOW SOMETHING UP!! DON' T DO IT!
briansredd 3 years ago

you CAN, but I would not recomend it. Putting 2 different loads on an amp's left and right channel is never a good idea
briansredd 3 years ago
hey guys, this is awesome. i'm thinking of getting the Crown XTi 1000 for my band. i'm a drummer and we don't have any bottom end right now...ZERO subs....i have a question: we were going to get two Peavey PV118 Subwoofers . will the Crown XTi 1000 drive both subs in bridge mono? i'm confused on how that works. those 2 subs will handle 400 watts a piece so we would need 800 watts total. so this crown would be great if it would drive both at 1000 watts! will it?
thanks!
linuxbox25 3 years ago
Yeah that'll actually work. If you run your subs bridge mono paralel, you'll dip the XTi1000 down to a 4 ohm load. This will give you a total of 1400 watts. So, you end up with 600 watts top end.
If I were you, I would think about something even bigger, though. if you spent a few extra bucks and got the XTi 2000, you'd get 2000 watts in Bridge Mono 4 ohms which would give you 1200 watts TOP END! When it comes to Subs, the more top end, the better IMO
briansredd 3 years ago
thx. well we went with the 1000 right now and are going to test today to see how it is. we don't play at large venues so i'm hoping this will do for us in the smaller club scene etc etc. i mean, we usually have to turn down anyway. we're just looking to have some "thump" coming through our two peavey 18" subs! until today, we've had zero subs and zero thump so you think this would be pretty good? we only play for like less than 300 people normally.
linuxbox25 3 years ago
i got one of these driveing my subs in my home theater 4 avalanch 18's with 27mm of x max and a fs of 17hz. the subs weigh 50 pounds each and the wall i bult my ib into moves. and this is bareley turned up.

Our school has an XTi 1000 running in 70v mode to an EV speaker outside for our football games. Could I bring my laptop (since I'm the guy that does the music for the games) and hook it up to my laptop and perhaps have an on screen graphic EQ?
iceman977th 3 years ago
Nice stuff brah. I need some help. I just bought a Peavey 18" SUBWOOFER @ 400 8ohms. and im thinking of buying a CROWN XLS-802 , would this power up my sub good? or would my blow up my sub?
djalexr007 3 years ago
Hmm well, you could, but the 602 or even the 402 in bridge mono should do the trick as well with more than 100% top end :)
briansredd 3 years ago
i do like powered speakers because they are more convenient but i realized i do not want to use them for all my gigs. I use the mackie c 300 z passive, with peavey 2600 watt amp, and sound amazing for top end. If the powered speaker has any problem you screwed. If the speaker goes you have to send it back, and you cannot use the amp. If the amp goes you cannot use the speaker. Thats why I like passive much better.

briansredd 3 years ago
brian, I just picked up a Crown XTI 1000 amp. Haven't had a chance to check it out, because after I got it home, I realized I needed Speakon and XLR adapters. My old amp used 1/4 inch plugs.
DJCyRo 3 years ago
You can also use Banana clips if you want. That's an easy convert from 1/4. Just go to the local gear shop and get some banana ends :)
briansredd 3 years ago
I actually have banana plugs, but crown decided to put the banana plugs on the top of the speaker out. On the plugs I have, the cable kinda goes in from the side, at an angle, to the banana ends. Because crown put their holes so close to the amp back wall, they are too close for the cables to really fit.
So, I just got 2 speakon adapters, and they work great.
DJCyRo 3 years ago
I hope you know power means nothing in terms of output even with matched speakers. If your speakers take that much power, you better be powering a bunch of smalelr speakers, not a few large ones. Eating up that power, they must be inefficient and reaching into power compression.
djzrule 3 years ago
You must have serious money to buy the 2000W and 4000W, damn..
tok4life420 3 years ago
depends on how serious you are about NOT burning out speakers... have an amp twice the rated power of the speakers, and you will not burn out speakers... having amps matched to the wattage of the speakers will fry equipment, worse thing you can do - amp that is way undersized for the speakers. I run racks of crown macro-tech 5002's

Would it still be good to use my eq. even if the crown amp has one too.

zeo107 3 years ago
That's not really how you should run that amp IMO. You won't get a stereo signal that way from your top cabs.
If you want to run both a sub & top cabs, I would suggest an additional amp like I have done in this video

doos subs rulzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ljmike1204 3 years ago
can u just buy the 4000 and use it for both top cabs and subs
DreamersEnt 3 years ago
If you are running mono, yeah. One channel could be highs & mids and another channel can be sub.
However, as I demonstrated in the video, if you try to just run your subs & top cabs paralel, the internal passive crossovers of your speakers allow a LOT of bleeding of other signals
