This movie and the theme had a major impact on my life. Just as Brian Piccolo died of lung cancer, so did my dad in late December of 1970. This movie and the beautiful theme song helped me cope with my dad's passing . I was 15 and a half years old when he died By the way my dad was only 53

My Uncle Abe Gibron was in this movie and I was there in Rensaleer, Indiana when it was being shot. Abe was then the coach of the Bears and even as we sat watching it one evening, he had a tear in his eye. It was very emotional for him and especially for Brian's his wife Joy. RIP Uncle ABE and BP.

such a powerful melody......my mother just passed away and this song helps me weep both tears of joy and sorrow.....her passing is simply gripping...funny thing,
i am a twin and back in the fifties when i was born they said my mom was going to have a big baby boy and my parents only had one name picked out, brian!!!!
I think this song, and the theme from "Born On The Fourth of July" are the only musical pieces that make me tear up and break me down, and not even have to watch the actual movie to get a Kleenex.
I'm a 49 year old man. I've seen this movie a dozen times. It's still the only movie that can make me cry after repeat viewings. Probably the best sports movie ever made.
i love brian picolo. and i want you to love brian picolo. and when you get down on your knees tonight (sob) besides your bed, i want you to ask God to love brian picolo
This was one of my favorites to skate as a young figure skater during the 70's. I never understood my mother insisting on this music until years later. Truly beautiful. Must say tears hit me now and then when looking at the old photos of competitions with this music. :O)
@Dontjudge4life When I studied music, one of my teachers told me that I would never be able to sing a love song or play an emotional piano piece well until I'd had my heart broken a couple of times. She was right. I was a much better performer as an adult.

I think this is the only football movie my mom ever watched. It brings back memories - I wasn't even 10 when it came out. You know a lot of real life Bears are in that movie - they needed the money.
@haroos I have the sheet music for Brian's Song, and it's really Michel Legrand's song because he wrote it as 334286 mentioned. It's been years since I've seen the movie, but it's a very pretty song.

Oh Wow!! nothing can top a Henry Mancini melody, that man really had it. I can always tell a Henry Mancini melody from the first few notes, he had such a distinctive style. And I think this melody is best played on a piano or an orchestra I think would sound good too. Thanks for this upload.
I was in 4th grade when I saw this movie; our teacher showed to the class. I saw it 3yrs. after it came out. It made me cry and it has been a favorite of mine. The theme song still chokes me up

One of my favorite movie. I dont know if one of them is gay. I remember back in H.S. in 1973 ,everytime they show the preview of this movie.,the scene was when they are jogging together. The narrator said WHEN TWO MEN FALL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER ITS MORE THAN JUST LOVE.I always remember that.

The music was composed by Michel Legrand. I believe Michel played the song during the TV movie as well. An absolute exquisitely haunting song. 10 + stars!
i first watched the original Brian's Song with James Caan when I was about 9. I still cry everytime I hear this piece and it is so appropriate for such a sad, true story. thanks for posting.
this song is amazing just like the movie we watch it during school and i just about cried so i thought maybe i listen to the song again and it was just as good as the first time i heard it
What a beautiful song. I was looking for it because my friend's husband just died of cancer at the age of 37 (two days before his 38th birthday) and his name was Bryan. I love the movie and the song and I just had to share it with my friend. Thank you.
This is from the TV movie Brian's Song. Written by Michel Legrand. The movie is about the friendship of Gayle Sayers and Brian Piccolo who played football for the Chicago Bears. Brian died of cancer in 1970 at the age of 26.
