I remember this. I was in dance class when this happened. The power went out, and we were all sent home. When I ran to my grandpa's car, it was hailing, but where I lived, no tornado. Next day at school, our teacher showed us a picture of it.

dude lol i was like i was like mom ita fucking tornado but i live in Sayre and there was a tornado 4 miles away it was scary and PA isnt in tornado alley thats what made me scared
Seriously! I live in PA and if I saw a tornado I would be acting exactly the same as this guy lol. You just don't expect that sort of thing around here...
It was actually a FUNNEL CLOUD!! I live amongst these Pennsylvania folks now (from Texas) and its amazing how many dont know the difference between the two and how many of the others are self proclaimed "experts" when it comes to severe weather LOL!! Either way, its cool to get excited about a funnel cloud, tornado, etc...I find them of the utmost fun and try to get out and see one when I can. Of course, up here the terrain is a lot more difficult to spot storms from. Good video.
@kingjesus777 when they say a funnal cloud becomes a tornado when it hits the ground, they are not neccesarily talking about the fucking cloud. they are talking about the wind rotation. once the rotating wind touches the groud, ITs A TORNADO. ever heard of invisible tornadoes, they are rare tornadoes that form wind cycles that reach the ground before a funnel cloud can completely develop. clouds and debris only give the tornado it's visible form.
@vice2vursa is 100% correct about the wind rotation. Destruction can already be well under way with a tornado even when the funnel cloud hasn't fully formed. The wind is the whole reason the clouds are doing that. It would just be fluffy clouds without that super cell rotation. Imagine a fluffy cloud picking up your car and throwing it a few 100 yards lol.

Yep, my town always gets attention for embarrising things. 1st, sexting with an ugly girl than this tornado video. I'm not gonna lie though, its funny as hell.
i am from that area and yes that was a true tornado that caused some decent damage!Who says tornadoes dont happen in PA, the other day there was a record of 5 tornadoes in one day, within 2 hours!
Were you that scared? Chicken shit. You should have stayed out longer filming it instead of being like mr. 5-0 police officer 'get in the school' to your mom. dont film shit if your not experienced.
Why do you people think it is funny how us "yinzers" react to this kind of stuff? Like seriously! I'd like to see how you react to your 1st tornado with hail the size of gulf balls. Ahahaa, That'd be hallarious! :D So, once you have your 1st tornado, make a video and post it and let me laugh a bit. K? Mmmmk.(:
Oh and btw, We don't get tornados where we live. It's quite clear, You didn't know that.(;
Give 'em a break. Anyone who sees this unexpectedly would be in shock, even in Kansas.Plus, they did the right thing by heading indoors and alerting others. I know some people who were killed near Butler, in May 1985 in a tornado..
The reason he freaked is because we're not realy supposed to get tornados in pa! I also live in pa but I didnt see it. But that tornado wasnt far from my house!
It's really uncommon in PA.. But 13 years ago Johnstown PA had one and it ripped of our apartment building roof off.. But really nice job to get to safety..
Nick...well done....NOT an over reaction to a tornado in PA...you got people to safety....I live in KS and would have been screaming a lot louder than that!!! And I agree with MinmatarThrasher....never seen one that close, either, and have lived here all my life, as well.
Great video! How is this overreacting? It was a tornado, which is very uncommon in this part of PA. How would you react if you were in a tornado??...it passed right over us (irwin) and I never actually saw the funnel, but I was scared to death...it touched down about a mile from my house! So glad no one was hurt!
Thank goodness nobody was killed. I live in PA too and we don't see tornados everyday. I was working in North Huntingdon when this was going on and that's about 30 minutes away from Greensburg where the tornado hit. We had hail and around 5:30 the sky went from green to pitch black. Day became night and we had no idea what was going on. We were told earlier there was a tornado watch and what was so amazing that despite what was going on customers were still shopping. Weird!
I would not say that Nick Farrugia overreacted. One should always regard the tornado with extreme caution and seek shelter. I would say that Nick reacted properly and wisely.
This guy could be yall's new "tornado warning"! Give him a mega phone and let him run around the streets! "there's a tornado, there's a tornado, there's a tornado!"
this was scary because there are never any tornadoes around here...so there is really no action or precautions one can take...your entirely at the mercy of the thing, not that people out west arent when the big ones hit but they are at least somewhat used to it and prepared.
@nickster105 I'm 40, and have lived my whole life in the Altoona area. I remember distinctly the "super outbreak" of 1985, in which an F5 was produced in western PA, making it THE most powerful tornado of the decade.
I still roll my eyes when I hear idiots around here claim that "tornados never happen 'round here, because of the moun'ains." What b.s.
i live near hgempfield and i dont think u peaple know, but the hempfiled highschool got hit, and the roof got ripped off.....they had no school the next day....good thing knowone was hurt
@fattyspinsuremom Yup my brother is in 11th grade there, (I graduated 2008). probably dont have school till sometime next week. It killed some buses. xD
I think Nick did what ANYONE would have done who lives in NW Pa where TORNADOS aren't common. Not only that, It would have freaked just about any normal human being out!...Glad no serious injuries from this bad storm, praying for those with loss of any kind.
@marmoa I live in NW Pa and I used to live in Eastern Pa. We actually get tornados more often than people think. We get them a lot, but often they don't last long because of all the mountains. We always know that when it starts to hail in warm weather to get the hell inside cause something nasty is coming our way. Also in Eastern Pa we get a lot of earthquakes. They are low in the scale, but still cause some damage.
@kitsunechan90 Heh heh, this reminds me--true story, now, but funny--of that time when I was sitting in biology class during the 9th grade, learning about how cells reproduce, and how pretty much every living organism on the planet is descended from a SINGLE. CELL. FROM. TWO. BILLION. YEARS. AGO.

And Nick- sometimes people in leadership situations "freak out"... that's OK. What is most important is you took charge and directed people to go inside.
Glad that you got everyone to safety. I live in Pittsburgh and we didn't get the tornado but it wasn't pretty here. I drove through three hail storms today during this storm.
