  • It is not "the ultimate in data protection". 1:30

First of all, a big fault of this device is that if there is a power surge, or if there is a fire, or the device drops off a desk, both drives could be unreadable. It is far better to have your primary copy with you, and then your backup drive off-site, so that it will not be broken when your primary one stops working.

Also, it only comes with USB 2! No ESATA or USB 3.0 (although USB 3.0 was not out in Sept. of 2008, but ESATA was).

  • Its only backing up your data ONCE, not twice. 0:38. Only 1 backup. You have your primary copy, and then the 1 backup both in the enclosure.

  • @danwat1234 Not true, depending on how its setup. If you are using this as purely a backup device (what its designed to be) you would have your primary HDD (internal) in your system and would arrange this device in RAID1. Thus you would have your primary internal HDD with your data, and your backup data would go to the device and mirror on the 2 other drives in the device. That is 3 drives with the same exact data, pretty good redundancy for a home user, which is the market this device is in.

  • @danwat1234 To add to my first reply... You are implying that someone would be using this EXTERNAL device as both a primary disk and your backup disk. Who uses an external HDD as a primary disk for daily use? You would have one INTERNAL HDD and then this device to back that drive up TWICE (if configured in RAID1).

  • I have a problem with my usb external hard drive, Everytime i try to plus it into my laptop it does'nt do anything. The blue light on my usb hard drive comes on but it still does'nt do anything, can anybody please help me?
