  • Mako sharks are very fast

  • Yes OJ094 but there are good shark information sites on the net too. try the likesharks site. type likesharks into google and its like the 9th or 10th one.

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU SET OF LAME BASTARDS!!

  • Wow great encounter !!!

  • That mako encounter must have been unnerving. Mako's no joke

  • The second shark, biting the line, is surely a blue shark.

  • There are ways to encounter sharks and swimming in a chum slick when you are essentially merging yourself with what they sense as good food makes you a nominee for a Darwin award.

  • Nice clip.. :) Were you spearfishing..?

    Thanks for posting it..

  • I have dived with makos, they are swift and proud fish. I kept my distance. They definitely showed little fear, and it was really humbling being in the water that moves like lightning whereas you move like a broken down Gremlin

  • More than most other sharks, makos seem the least afraid of humans.

  • They also have some pretty amazing brains.

  • actually, mako sharks are one of the most timid and scared of humans.

  • I agree, the hype created by the word "attack" isn't justified by chumming the shark. It makes the fish out as vicious and unpredictable, when in reality they aren't. I've dove with hundreds of sharks, and the only time they act like this is when provoked.

  • There were no clear warning signs i.e. body language cos this shark was investigating the camera like they do. Makos can be very curious and bold, they are a pelagic shark after all. They like to check out cameras & bump people... hence the biting of the camera!

It is not like anyone died or was attacked. It is such hype.

We should remember sharks have been here since before the dinosaurs... it is us who is killing them off... 100 million a year... we're losing a beautiful, essential species.

  • @chicademar80 Ive been watching shark videos all day. Almost every one has a comment similar to yours citing a massive number of sharks that are being killed each year. One said 1 billion every 12 years another said 50 million a year another said 80 million a year and now yours says 100 million a year. Dont you realize its just a bunch of bullshit that animal rights activists and coalitions put out so people will get concerned? They do the same thing with rainforests, they should be gone by now.

  • ..and thats why you should not stay in the middle of a chum slic.

the sharks sense the blood or fish oil or whatever but they see nothing swimming in the area which could cause the slik.... except for the diver.

fish remainings thrown in the ocean by fishermen were often the cause for "attacks" on surfers.

  • a mako shark is just a smaller version of a great white and is more agressive

  • who did you do this dive with?

  • A friend, Russ & his son (Kevin). Dr. Rocky Strong, was also in the boat

  • did you do it through a diving company?

  • We used Russ' boat. We chummed the water and drifted with the chum. Sun fish were playing on the surface so I jumped in to try to film them. They took off and the mako appeared. The next 12 mins. I was trying to film, while swimming against a strong current, back to the boat. I didn't have any air or snorkel and every time I broke to the surface or splashed, the mako would turn and try to bite me, so I had to fight it off underwater, come up for air, then swim underwater towards the boat.

  • wow, that mako gave you a hard time. I understand why you would have jumped in with the chum to video those sun fish though because they are quite oddly beautiful. a current, no air or snorkel, and an agressive mako...glad you didnt get hurt.

  • @IcySharks

Werent you scared? or is it normal for a diver to encounter a shark like this?

Please tell me i wanna dive to!

  • @DyonKe

No, it's not normal to encounter sharks like this. We were looking for blue sharks, in the open ocean. We had chum in the water to try to attract them for pictures/filming.

You should dive! There are many beautiful and interesting things to see underwater. Just be familiar with the dangers and remember to respect the ocean and its habitants.

  • @IcySharks

Thanks for the awnser altough i find sharks beautifull creatures, i am a bit scared!

So what if i dive/snorkeling and encounter a shark? do i need to get out of the water "quickly" or "calm" or not be afraid and just watch the beautifull creature with causion?

Im not directly diving in to open waters ofcourse but you never know when a shark pops up. I dont got the image of diving/snorkeling yet!

And that means im not well prepared for it yet.

  • @IcySharks You're have very large balls.

  • @IcySharks How did you really dodge the shark when it was approaching you?IT was really scary.

  • @IcySharks you are the man. mako sharks dont play around. i was told by a conceited diver that Makos are not that dangerous. in my experience they are one of the most if not the most aggressive sharks out there. Respect for your film!!

  • CUTE

  • Struggling to work out where it actually attacks. Few exploratory bites of a camera doesn't really count. Cool shark tho

  • how about 0:54? it ATTACKED the camera!

  • sharks like electrical stuff and metal.

they have an electro-sense which tells them that metal ist a living creature and thats the reason why sharks often bite into cages, boats and cameras.

  • Rather you than me.

  • that is one zippy fish hehe

  • mean shark
