"Bourgeois"? Do you understand the words you use? Blink 182 is FAR more bourgeois than Cash. Johnny Cash was a gritty mofo and he sang from the heart. He is probably the best American singer/song writer with the possible exception of Leonard Cohen. Blink 182? Give me a break. If you were saying you like the original NIN track I could understand, but that still isn't a reason to give a thumbs down. I knew Johnny well. He is Johnny one of a kind. Sellout? No way. Me Johnny and W.S Holland spent many nights sitting talking WS and johnny played every kind of song you can think of. There are pop and believe it or not Rock songs out there with Johnny in them. Hurt wasnt his life It was only his thoughts Things said at the end of ones life. The loss of June was what I think made this song.
