  • ok ,lets joke about 1 follower-must be justin bieber * now im getting 100+ likes *

  • The nine inch nails display this song as a more looking forward song, Cash on the other hand makes it appear to be like he's stopping in his tracks and giving it all away. Truly amazing, in every way.

  • @BronzeApples JC has a different take on it compared to NIN. He knew he wasn't long for this world and I think this was his own reflection on his life. Superb!

  • LEGEND

  • 1 persons shitting themselves with 325 people after them

  • whoever disliked this song has no taste in music

  • my favouritist song everrrrr <3

  • One of his last but best R.I.P. Johnny Cash

  • @M16machine1 Agreed......but I love the lyrics and sound of the highwayman by the so called. JC brings it home superbly !!!

  • Why is there a fat bitch singing katy perry in the suggestions??

  • isnt this song called empire of dirt? still best song ever

  • @thedarkestni9ht This is a cover of Hurt- Nine Inch Nails.

  • U sure?

  • @mtorres2866 duh... everyone already knows that captain obvious. this was one of the last songs he recorded before he died...

  • @Raeka92 .... he was replying to someone asking the name of the song :|... my lord, read before you start commenting.

  • ok i wud just like to point out that whoever said Johnny Cash was a pop sellout, you are a complete and utter idiot! you obivously dont listen to an artist before you start bagging on them because if you did you would know that Johnny is probally one of the most " real " artist to ever live! also i would like to say that you are bashing a man that can only look down from the clouds of heaven and shake his head, hope that this feable attempt to make you pathetic life seem better was worth it.

  • woa woa woa who the fuck is dissin johnny? if it because he sings country? or is it because he sang a couple songs that other artists done? WHO THE FUCK CARES! the man sang what he felt was true and meaning full if you have that your either a communist or a whinny lil punk who needs to stfu and keep his mouth shut

  • Can people please stop trolling on Johnny, please?

  • "Bourgeois"? Do you understand the words you use? Blink 182 is FAR more bourgeois than Cash. Johnny Cash was a gritty mofo and he sang from the heart. He is probably the best American singer/song writer with the possible exception of Leonard Cohen. Blink 182? Give me a break. If you were saying you like the original NIN track I could understand, but that still isn't a reason to give a thumbs down. Keep listening to your post-punk pop and leave the real music to people with taste.

  • please check out my new youtube video...there may be something left to feel...an old friend

  • for a sec i was really pissed about the bufffering then i started playing snake

  • @thatcurtisbrother LOL same. I was so pissed and then I started jerking off too.

  • Yes, I know it's a cover of NIN, I never denied that, but yes. It'd be easier to finish this argument. I believe doing as you just said would count as assault and I would be able to track you down and sue you, but yes, no hard feelings. Haha

  • What the media seems to have forgotten about... Real songs, written by real people, played by real instruments...

  • What do we have to say more about this song? Just one word: BEAUTIFUL

  • I knew Johnny well. He is Johnny one of a kind. Sellout? No way. Me Johnny and W.S Holland spent many nights sitting talking WS and johnny played every kind of song you can think of. There are pop and believe it or not Rock songs out there with Johnny in them. Hurt wasnt his life It was only his thoughts Things said at the end of ones life. The loss of June was what I think made this song.

  • @Basstubs Thanks for backing me up mate. I've been trying to explain that for about a fortnight.

  • @papashangofan Trent reznor (NIN) wrote it in 1994

Johnny cash covered it in 2002. simple as that. Far as i know, blink 182 is nowhere near either of them

  • @teejay929 My god. The song is What's My Age Again. Just look it up already. Cash changed the title so the commercial viability of the song would be more popular, cause What's My Age Again bombed at the charts.

  • @papashangofan ok, i'll level with you here. if this is what's my age again, why are the lyrics completely different? and the chord progression? and the fact that this song has the exact same lyrics as the nine inch nails song oddly enough called "hurt?" i will dedicate my life to you, you prove to me that this is a blink 182 song.

  • every does know that nine inch nails singed the rights of this song to johnny cash, knowing damn well he absolutely deserved it after his coverage of it

  • This song's so good, it gives me chills.

  • I love this man

  • this man was the greatest artist history has ever know. r.i.p

  • who is that one dislike mf

  • @BALDAZO95 It was me. We covered this earlier but I prefer the Blink 182 version of the song. I feel this one is just too bourgeois.

  • who ever disliked this song go die

  • @AwTNIASATAF I did. Do something about it. The Blink 182 version (titled ironically What's My Age Again) is way better.

  • @papashangofan That's not a version of this song. If you're looking for the original, it's Nine Inch Nails.

  • @NotTooParticular That is a cover of this song actually. Mark Hoppus sings it and everything.

  • @papashangofan I'm sorry, but I don't see any relation between the two songs at all.

  • @NotTooParticular What do you want? It's a cover. It's not gonna be identical.

  • @papashangofan It's not a cover if the two songs are completely different in several ways, especially in mood.

  • @NotTooParticular The surface features are different what with Hoppus singing one and Johnson Cash singing the other, but this is a cover. The mood of what's my age again is somber and dark, if you actually listen to the lyrics instead of just being a music slut you'd hear this.

  • @papashangofan I listened to it a second time and I also looked at the lyrics. In no way do I see any relation between the meanings of these two songs. Tell me again why I'm a "music slut," or maybe this is just some feeble attempt at an insult.

  • @NotTooParticular This song is all about wasted life and pain. What's my age again is about the same exact thing. His life has flashed before his eyes and he (Hoppus) is having regrets. You're a music slut cause unless you're listening to Katy Perry, Johnny Cash or any other pop sellouts you don't bother to listen to the music. I can't tell if you're trolling me but, if not listen to 1:37-2:48 of What's My Age Again and then come talk to me.

  • @papashangofan Johnny Cash is a pop sellout? What in the world are you talking about? He put his heart into his own music and others, that's no sellout. Listen, I'm no troll, so let's agree to disagree. We both seem to have completely different observations of the music. I apologize for starting this fight.

  • @NotTooParticular Apology not accepted. You baited me into this fight against my better judgment. You've wasted three days of my life that I've spent agonizing over my responses and now that I've proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is a cover of Blink you end the argument? And by the way how can you say that Johnny Cash isn't a pop sellout. Firstly, even in his name, Cash? that means money literally. Secondly, he covers obscure songs from the 90's by blink 182. Does it get any more pop?

  • Comment removed

  • @papashangofan Okay fine, you want to start it up again? Johnny Cash was born with the last name Cash. What you say is your "better judgement" is really just your opinion. He didn't cover a song by Blink 182, he covered a song by Nine Inch Nails. He's covered many other songs by many other people and has his own music, a lot of it. I advise you to look up the definition of a cover, because you are obviously wrong. Good day to you.

  • @NotTooParticular I'll operate under the assumption you haven't listened to What's My Age Again recently. A cover does not need to have the same lyrics. Just look at the first cut is the deepest by Sheryl Crow and Cat Stevens. Too completely different sounds yet what are they....COVER. You're a music slut through and through. Go ahead and googel music slut, you'll find pic of yourself. Also, I tried to end this stupid argument civilly but here you go starting it up again. Go suck a lemon.

  • @papashangofan I tried to end this argument and you kept it going, so don't even accuse me of anything. I don't listen to Blink, but I listened to that song when you told me to not too long ago, There's nothing relative between the lyrics of these two songs. You also have no support for why it's a cover of Blink. They may have slightly similar meetings but that's not covering. I just looked up a music slut by the way. I don't listen to what's hip, I listen to what I like, so back off.

  • @NotTooParticular Sorry my friend. Let's just bury this once and for all. Let's agree that yes it is a cover, but no you cannot recognize it as such. At the very least, you'd have to admit that this is a cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails. It's ludicrous to me taht you'd deny that. Either way let's agree to disagree and if I ever meet you in person I'll ko you with a check hook. No hard feelings mate?

  • @papashangofan your making no sence at all... "lets agree to disagree. I'LL KO YOU!! no hard feelings?" wtf...

  • @papashangofan you have to be trolling. noone's this stupid.

  • @papashangofan i would like to see you be half as talented as johny cash. then maybe instead of saying nasty things about a truely great man you could actually do something notable for society.

  • @shonmobs I'm a cop. A police chief and I'm damned if some young hacker is gonna talk to me like this. I actually met Johnny Cash one time in '54 and he told me that he personally respected me. So please, bud out you racist. Just because I'm Polish doesnt mean I have to take this from you.

    -Paul Shango

  • @papashangofan i dont know what race has to do with anything? i didnt even know you where polish until you said something. also i dont know if you met johny cash or not but 54 was a long time ago. if you really did then why rag on his music so much? i dont know what you mean by "hacker" but i most definiatly dont hack things. im just sticking up for a man (johnny cash) that cant stick up for himself anymore.

  • @shonmobs Shut up you racist twat. Why is it that every attempt at a real discussion on youtube turns into senseless racist bashing.

  • @papashangofan i said absolutely nothing involving your race! your probably just some fat kid that eats eggos off of his stomach and gets off to people hating him. because honestly i dont know anyone that could put up with all your bullshit.

  • @shonmobs I get off on clitoral stimulation. That's right. This whole time I was a girl. Bet you feel pretty sick to your stomach right about now.

  • @papashangofan actually no because i dont believe a word you say. your a pathetic waste of life and i hope you leave this earth soon because your wasting oxygen for the people who actually deserve it.

  • @shonmobs I'll KO that bitch Johnny Cash in hell with a check hook.

  • @papashangofan really?

  • @shonmobs Sorry mate. I was out of line. I meant teep.

  • @papashangofan No you need to shut up, being a female does not change things jackass. Because I know you are douche only running your mouth.

  • @1998disco72 Some detective you are, did my giant hungarian fasz give it away?

  • i mean you could be the president of the united states and i would still be mean to you if you insulted johnny cash.

  • @papashangofan Pop sellout? There isn't a more honest or emotionally sincere piece of music out there than this.

  • that one disliker.... nice try bieber :)

  • Like many paintings, a song with various interpretations. Johnny Cash near the end of his life, Johnny Cash at his best.

  • How does anyone listen to this song and not reflect...........

  • @MrDownslider I use mirrors to reflect you IDIOT!

  • @papashangofan Nice

  • The people who click dislike are officially dead inside.

  • Who the hell disliked this??? That's an insult, I cannot hear a minute of this without feeling a strong beating inside...who can tell that's bad?

  • I love Nine Inch Nails but.. I like this version better to be honest

  • It's a shame Johnny Cash was so into sky-diving. While he had fun, it evetually led to his death.

  • @papashangofan What

  • @samwisescalf Im what you call a queer Irishman, I prefer women over whiskey you fucking little bitch,

  • @papashangofan whoa what did I do I was asking what did you mean sky-diving

  • @papashangofan *EPIC* TROLLING MY FRIEND :)

  • @papashangofan Blasphemy! haha

  • @morr0w Tell me about it mate.

  • a voice like a good whiskey

  • Cash is great, but something about his later songs make them so much better. I don't know if its because his voice is slightly different, but I cant tell what makes them so much better

  • this song, about addiction, is true to Cash because he was and addict, himself...long before Trent Reznor was born.

  • sssaaddd

  • I'm big on hip/hop and R&B but Johnny Cash is in my top 5 artist of all time.

  • I don't think I would classify John Cash as Country. I look at him as a great American folk singer.

  • this song is a gem among youtube, no dislikes.

  • 0 dislikes. Now thats what I like to see. R.I.P,Johnny cash. You will be remembered forever and ever.

  • thumbs up if this song made you think about non-materialistic things in life.

  • :)

  • had to listen to this song after they had it in criminal minds =)
