Yeah I bet it was a short maintenance hop and he's saving a a gear cycle. Normally it's gear up when you have a positive rate on VSI, flaps up at 100kts, climb at 120 kts. That will get you to an altitude that you can possibly turn back to the airport from in the shortest time, should the engine fail. That altitude will be different from pilot to pilot depending on reaction time and technique. I have done it in the sim from 600 to a 1000 ft VFR and IFR. Hope I don't have to do it for real...
I doubt he 'forgot'. The public and the NTSB loves to blame pilots when something is not their fault. This is a single engine aircraft, so I'm willing to bet that it's standard procedure to leave the gear down until at a safe altitude if this were a short field takeoff... No backup engine to keep climbing after takeoff rotation in this plane, so a forced landing would be necessary if the only engine were to fail. Gear might not have enough time to transit if it were right after takeoff...
@berndl i know a large regional airline that does LOFT training / check ride in the simulator for the Embraer... first time a new hire touches the real airplane is on day one of their IOE with passengers aboard... not kidding.
this plane is a dog.....

Normally gear goes in earlier and always before a turn. I think it was a planned go around for training purposes.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
dude, nobody takes up a plane this expensive for training. lol

Dude, I am a pilot myself and don't you tell me nonsense. There are training rides in any kind of planes... not everything is done in simulators.

I did my type rating in the real thing. Have never seen a PC 12 simulator.

I wonder if the pilot forgot to put the gear up or that there's another reason for delaying.

That was an amazingly short takeoff run!
