  • Connie is right..."Stimulation" allways inproves a girls CUMplexion!

  • I wish I woke up already to go in the mornings! Hair perfect, eye make up on, lipstick on, just gotta bathe and put a ton of cream on my face and I will be ready to go! Haha!

  • I remember when we called it Blush. Goodness forbid we called it Rouge, that was so old fashion!

  • I used to make fun of how unrealistic the whole waking up with makeup thing was but I'm now convinced that many women back then would actually sleep wearing makeup only to take it off in the morning only to reapply it again..

  • i love it no matter what ppl say how weirdly she does... :)

  • i love constance

  • which part was the makeup? she used about 4 creams and it looked like she was already made up the whole time. what about her heavy eye makeup? and i guess her hair just does itself. and those lazy bitches that use powder blush...doesn't that just beat all? this was hysterical.

  • What are in these creams? Was this all snake oil or were there really stimulants/other active ingredients in these products?

  • Who the fuck wakes up with pretty clothes on, hair already made, and perfectly applied makeup? seriously...She has lipstick on to and that wasn't even smudged..

  • @TheDellanator lipsticks in those days were much MUCH different in texture than that of today's lipsticks...they were harder and waxier and did not smudge quite so easily :]

  • does she put on the cream and THEN get into the bath? weird.

I recommend watching the Rifftrax version of this short. Pretty funny!

  • I love the end when she says, I wish you all loads and loads of loveliness. :)

  • What did she say before she put on cream rogue? It sounded like "glow base".

  • @c4rous3l that's how I look in the mornings. : P

  • Those lazy bitches, using powder rouge...

  • I look like that when I wake up too... honest.

  • "Good luck" - Michelle Phan, 1930

  • how does she put all that stuff on her face and not mess up her perfectly applied makeup???

  • "to be beautiful and natural is the first right of every women." Amen to that!

  • The Hollywood Movie-Star Constance Bennett. No matter how many silly tips she may dish us out, we 'll be grateful for her astonishing beauty and we 'll be shavouring every single second she offered us.

  • Now I feel guilty. I consider my morning routine a success if I find the strenght in me to put on mascara. Women of the 30s (an 40s etc) were amazing.

  • Oh my god, I should have been a teen at this time not now, not this lil wayne justin bieber miley cyrus world. I belong there. :'( Oh well I'll bring this world into mine :D

  • I love how she wakes up with her makeup already done, rolls out of bed and then greets us in a heavy smoker's voice.

  • This is a commercial right?

  • and how did Mary treated her skin before work?

  • And of course, everybody has a maid lol

  • I've watched several movies with her in it. Such as "Merrily We Live", and "Topper", and "Topper Returns". All B&W movies. This is the first time I've seen her in color. This clip kind of defeats the purpose though. She woke up with make up on and wore it throughout her beauty ritual.

  • I love that bed O__O

  • she woke up with full make up.

  • I live in a city, my face has no spots when I wear lots of makeup, it looks terrible when I don't, I think it is to do with the pollution, ps. I love this lady's voice....charming

  • I enjoyed this video, the only thing that I had really recongnized was at the end hearing "that's all" if no one knew, that was Annette Hanshaw saying that, she would basically say that at the end of ever one of her songs. Just thought I'd say that :P

  • Did women ever actually wash their faces instead of just applying cold cream?

  • @scorchedcandy Cold cream DOES wash your face. Oil dissolves oil. :D It's been used since ancient Greece for a reason, and I've found that I have less zits since I switched to cold cream than I ever had when I used foamy face washes. Drying your skin out only makes it produce more sebum, after all.

  • Alright Mary, hold your fucking horses.

  • aww...they cut out the good stuff her getting in and out of the bath...guess i'll have to buy the dvd lol

  • very nice. Can I share this in my site beautycare-tips com

    or beautycare-beautytips.blogspot.com

  • the cream doesn't grow fuzz? It that what she said?

  • "Alright Mary I'll be there in just a minute."

DON'T YOU SEE I'M PUTTING ON COMPLEXION CREAM?

  • I can't believe i'm watching this

  • she washed her face, took a bath with lipstick still slabbed on her lips

  • I, a 31 Y/O male truly appreciates " old hallywood ", the golden age, the glamourous era, so when I see this i think how lovely it is to see what TRUE femininity SHOULD be like, and today, it's a lost practice. I enjoy this video, and today, ladies ( far and few ) can STILL do this and look stunning ! Well done.....

  • @iluvparfums -are you straight? I just ask because no straight male I know (& I know many) would never openly say this.. Now homosexuals are a totally different story..

  • @pineappleupside

Yes I am in fact ! And if I was gay that STILL would NOT matter, as " I " do infact appreciate a Woman who embraces her Feminine side, don't you or would you prefer a Woman who has more of a " Butch " side than even yourself ? If so, perhaps YOU have an idenity issue, so I wish you all the best in your endless quest to finding yourself....

  • @iluvparfums , I am sorry if my question offended you-and maybe I should not of been so blunt. Don't assume I am butch, hahahaha (which is the funniest thing I have ever heard in reference to myself tbh - no offense) I am extremely feminine (and have an enormous perfume, jewelry, cosmetics, and skin care collection- more than 200+ lipsticks & 100+ perfumes..) I would be thrilled if my husband was appreciative of things of this nature. More power to you.

  • @pineappleupside

No need to be sorry, I respect what you asked, so I answered you the best way " I " felt, so no hard feelings, and I wish you and your lover all the best, oh, NOTHING more sexy than a Woman who's feminine and omfortable with her body, her image, her heart, that's a very attractive trait I have to say, thanks....

  • wierd that people back in those times have less acne than people today and they use all those oily greasy products.

  • @MrSamixOxo18 I know. But it's cause of the food. Back there, their food was not like nowadays. Nowadays the food has a lot of chemestry in their making, besides, nowadays the climates are changing with global warming and stuff... it all affects our skin too.

  • She sure smears alot of crap on her face.

  • "Alright mary, I'll be with you in just a minute.. " ¬`__´¬

("FOR FUCK'S SAKE MARY, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M DOING A TUTORIAL HERE?!")

  • i love these insane propaganda films, they were innocent as fuck, i like mst3k over dialouge as well, ha!

  • FANTASTIC, Thank you!

  • In the 1960's, Miss Bennet played Lana Turner's mother-in-law in "Madame X".

Lana was furious with her, because she had a face lift just before filming began.

Anyway, Miss Bennet died before the picture was released.

  • I wish people still spoke like this <3

  • @ReadMyCrimsonLips My grandmother talked like this. She was such a beautiful lady! ;D She had an hourglass figure and a pin-up face. I remember going to her and she put always red lipstick on me because she said I was Snow White ;D Dark hair, pale skin and blueish/greenish/greyish eyes. I miss her know soo much! ):

  • @DeSmurfen125 Oh your grandma sounded like an amazing woman! xx

  • @ReadMyCrimsonLips believe me, she was! :D

  • @DeSmurfen125 Awww I wish my grandmother was like that.

  • Starlets were so classy and fabulous back then. What happened?!?! Now we got starlets like Lindsay Lohan and Britney spears! Whatever happened to the classic beauty of back then!?

  • hehehe...funny...and beautiful

  • Goodness, isn't she just the picture of the everyday woman.

  • "I'm fond of battery acid for a facial stimulant... It really gets the blood flowing."

  • damn i wish i woke up with flawless hair and makeup like her!!! ^_^

  • What is this?! : S

and was it actually made in the 30's?!

  • But Ms. Bennett! Its a quarter of eight!

  • She should sack that maid! "F*ck sake Mary!!!!! I said I'd f*@king be there in a minute!!!!!!"

I'd hate to have read a diet book by her, I'm starving just looking at her.

  • how is this in color!!! i thought the only thing from the 30s that was in color was the wizard of ozz

  • @TheEgyptianOne The wizard of Oz was the first Film in color. They never said anything about little things like this.

  • @ThisSinginGirlAK

Sorry, but that is not correct. The first movies made in color appeared in the 1910's already but they were often limited to simple colors. However they made several dozens of technicolor feature movies in the 1920's and 1930's BEFORE The Wizard of Oz. Most of these movies have since long been forgotten and they haven't stayed in the collective minds of people like the Wizard of Oz did.

  • @McLarenMercedes Really? That's cool. I'll have to look those up :)

  • @TheEgyptianOne probably edited after a few years, color was added later..

  • @TheEgyptianOne

You thought wrong. Technicolor existed in the 1920's already and by the early 30's it was pretty commonplace. However those early color movies had a serious flaw. They tended to fade and age very quickly compared to the black and white movies, so after going through a lot of projectors they started to look dreadful. This was not a problem with the black and white movies, which is why they remained more popular way into the early 50's.

  • nice video :) Btw people had good skin back to these days, because they didn't have acnes even though they used alot of creamy products

  • @BellaSilvery Well, lets face it... today we have less than perfect environmental conditions and as for our diets, we all drive cars and eat fast food and our sedentary lifestyle is turning us away from the portrait of class and turning us into the epitome of classless.

I hope one day we can turn back those hands of time a bit and remember we have the power to change things at least a little.

  • Once you use your glow base, cream rouge really pops the color on your cheeks. :) lol Love that, and where she said us women are always on parade. It must have taken three hours to get ready every morning. A lot of them did wear makeup to bed, so waking up with makeup on wasn't uncommon.

  • @staciarose20 But keeping your make up over night gives you pimples.

  • I would like to see how they did the hairstyles in the 20, I mind: A process in VIDEO, no photos = S

  • yeah i get it,im upset because if it wasnt for media women today would not feel like they should rely so much on cosmetics to look good,we've shifted to depending on always the latest product in the market to be enough and to me thats very unhealthy.whether or not shes on tv or what era shes from is only secondary to the fact that we've raiseded a generation full of women who are always in the lack and thats what im upset abt...but really sorry if i came off wrong, dnt take it personal

  • 'to be beautiful and natural is every woman's birthright'!!!!is she fckin kidding me?she just spent 4 min teaching us how to load up warpaint on our faces and she ends off with that! put some effort into being a hypocrite!

  • @MsLimeice You realise this was in the 1930's? You know, 70-80 years ago? Skin care is important to LOOK natural, not BE natural. Also, she's in a VIDEO, which no doubt would of been on television, yes? Do you know how much makeup is needed to be on TV? It's very heavy.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder what women did for acne back then. Their faces are always so...perfect. >.>

  • @unknowndeoxys00 nowadays 90% of all that we eat have chemical substances and artificial substances that can cause our skin to get oily and get zits. the food in the past used to be more natural.

plus, there is a lot more of pollution nowadays, and the dirt caused by pollution can affect and cause pimples on our skin too. back there, pollution was not as harsh as today.

hope people care more about enviroment and nature, so it won't affect ourselves, in health and even on natural appearance.

  • those were the days

  • I thought the speaker was charming. Not to folksy and not too stuck up. But, unless they're applying makeup with a lead base, there's no need for all those nasty creams. I guess it's too late for her to realize she was actually making wrinkles by smearing all that stuff on. I thought it was funny when she talked about looking 'natural'. I think her routine, when she's sleeping on curlers, would take her about 90 minutes.

  • @msterezz That was the only makeup they had in the time, technology was not that advanced.

But I agree, she does seem really stuck up at this video. But she was a very famous diva, so we can't expect that all the fame she had back then wouldn't spoil her.

  • Skinny means taking a lavish bubble bath over breakfast.

  • What's happened to women these days? I miss how we used to be! Thanks for posting the video.

  • @ROSESAPPHIREx What you mean, how women used to be? I didn't understand...

  • @ROSESAPPHIREx How did ANYONE used to be like THIS??? This was a fantasy film designed to steer women towards the beauty industry and make them feel like their routines were drab and not enough. I love it though-she is too much. Notice how she avoids her eye makeup and lipstick when applying her "creams."

  • I just love this!

  • The maid was starting to get impatient with the lady of the house. She had to tell her twice to get in the tub!

  • I love this videos!!! Very fun.

But..who prepared bathwater for the maid ???

Or she are a bad woman and not go to shower in the morning??

She wakeup like me, certanly!!! hahaha

    Great videos.

  • haha i couldnt even finish watching this video i couldnt take it seriously because duh!! yeh i wake up and my hair is just looking perfect like hers lmao yeh right i look like one of those troll dolls when i wake up!!!:P

  • These days we also hear about I makeup. What happened to her eye makeup

  • Did she really need more lipstick at the end?

  • women afraid of of a cream rouge are LAZY? LOL slap another tub of oil on your cheeks, dear. <3

  • @noirpoetix1 To be honest I believe it is true, like for liquid eyeliner, some friends say "I don't know how you can line your eye with that, I could never do it! I always use pencil" I hate pencil eyeliners and I had to learn to use the liquid liner... I believe they are lazy to learn how to use it

  • @balletzenaida I've used liquid, cream and pencil eyeliners, and I prefer the look of pencil. Also, some people have very shaky hands and I don't think it is lazy if they do not wish to spend a long time just lining their eyes.

  • @balletzenaida no she was talking about rouge, or blush, not eye make up. She said she used a cream rouge.

  • @littlehouse15 I know what she was talking about, I was making an example from my own life... SOMETIMES people just don't want to learn how to do things

  • I half expected birds to fly in the window and dress her.

  • @marbeque: me too :P as in Grease ^^

  • "That goddamned, no good maid..." You and I both know that was her tone.

  • Her voice...I .love her voice!

  • Constance Bennet is Joan Bennet's sister.

  • LOL = loads of loveliness :)

  • Of COURSE "creme rouge" works best for her...she has 72 different layers of oils on her face. What WOULDN'T blend with that kind of canvas? Why did none of these women in these old videos ever wear eye makeup? LOL, I DO enjoy watching them tho. I notice this woman said NOTHING about breakfast...Skinny! ;-)

  • That's a lot of layers!

  • Haha great video wahooo!

  • so many creams...

  • Shower!! Shower!!! do not ¨"bath" on your own broth!!! antihygenic yiacks!!

  • "But maybe they're just lazy." Keen observation Miss Bennet . lol XD

Oh, I love how the women of T.V and Movie land wake up (and go to sleep) with a full face of make up .

  • ....above all IT DOESNT GROW FUZZ!! lol nice video :) nice golden days

  • Ahhhh those were the days!

  • Stimulant creme?

  • I wish I could wake up looking like that! Then I wouldn't need a morning beauty ritual at all ;D

  • My butler just handed me a martini, and my maid is making sure that my bath water is just right for my sensitive skin. However, I have someone to put all that goo on my face.

  • Her waist is almost nonexistent!

  • i want to be herr ;)

  • shes so glamorus :)

  • @darkopacity: What she means is that at the time, hormone creams that women used on their complexions had a tendency to grow "peach fuzz" on their faces. (There's a well known anecdote about Marilyn Monroe in relation. That's how it was said she had that ethereal glow on screen, because the translucent "peach fuzz" on her face from the hormone creams she used reflected light from the lights used on set.)

  • stimulation??? Hummm,.. LOL

  • "and above all...it doesn't grow fuzz"

    uh...

  • Similar to Nozema:)

  • 3:19, yeah lazy bitches.

  • awe-inspiring instructions - nice one, has any of you used Rimmel's latest line of products? it is hard to obtain good makeup in Pleasant Grove yet i managed to obtain some impressive samples of make-up using 'Gratis Makeup Samples', theyre ace.

  • My goodness, all that face cream is enough to clog the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico- let alone her pores..

  • Loved this...

Because you know girls the only time we aren't on parade is when we are in front of our dressing tables ;)

  • This must be the first color film Roach made.

  • Great video!! I don't know who Ms. Bennet was, but she was a very beautiful woman! I agree with the comment about how our diets and acne today. It appears that alot of us forgot how to eat healthy, fresh, homemade, portioned meals. I do have to laugh at the maid thou! I was expecting Ms. Bennet to turn around and tell the maid a few choice words every time she interrupted her. I know I would have. LOL!

  • @Idoljunky32 - This is Constance Bennet...I'm pretty sure! Someone may have already told you.

  • @Idoljunky32 people still had acne back then. If you're using old films as a comparison... well everyone looks good in a movie.

  • I love that alarm clock!!

  • what a fabulous video! i'm jealous...

  • how glamorous ! love it

  • How did women back then NOT have acne? Can someone please tell me their secret? because I just don't believe, nor understand how in those times, skin was relatively FLAWLESS.

  • @TanyaAlinaSaide I think a lot of it has to do with our diets now. I think in general people are eating fattier foods these days... Just a theory.

  • @TanyaAlinaSaide People in the 30's did have acne but, like today acne was most present in teenagers. Also, think about this - of course they chose someone for this film with a pretty complexion like they do in modern films. They ate relatively the same foods as we did (minus the fast food - but despite popular thought grease does not cause acne, sugar intake and a lot of dairy does)

  • @DanaInWonderland93 Then I'm gonna stop eating sugar! Thanks for the information, very useful!

  • @TanyaAlinaSaide You're welcome. I can't promise that giving up sugar is going to clear up your face entirely but for me it did help I noticed. Also, increase your water intake. I try to drink at least 4 bottles a day - it helps flush out toxins. Btw the sugar in fruit is perfectly fine it's just the refined crap that's bad.

  • @TanyaAlinaSaide

It also has to do with the films. When you see pictures of the people in that day they look relitivaly flawless, or in the movies. The fuzzy black & white was quite flattering compared to our HD nowadays.

  • @TanyaAlinaSaide getting a lot of exercise that makes me sweat profusely has been the BEST for my skin. I don't think it's possibly to really clear your pores from the outside.

  • I aspire to be THAT fabulous!!

  • wow...SO AMAZING I CAN'T STAND IT. I want someone to draw me a bath at 7:35 every morning. :)

  • oh man. i think i am going to die, this is so amazing.

  • Don't we all wake up with a full face of makeup and a head full of waves? Now where is that maid to run my bathwater?!?

  • @CrysnMakeup it's like you read my mind!i thought the exact same thing when i saw this!! :)

  • This is scary... but I love it! Hahaha! Thank you for finding this clip. X

  • @visualkeik it reminds me of one of your early videos LMFAO!

  • @SleeplessSinger I so totally wish I was that glamorous!

  • @visualkeik didn't you find it strangely addicting, I watched every second LOL

  • @SleeplessSinger I so totally wish I was that glamorous!

  • I just hate it when you see a video of a woman waking up and she has red lipstick on

    Great video though :)

  • @KleineJumbie

Hey, I fall asleep with my makeup on all the time!

  • @KleineJumbie Those were the days, pal. Those were the days.

  • non capisco qual'é il primo prodotto che usa, usa un fazzoletto di stoffa...

  • That Mary, what a bitch.

  • @marbeque LMFAO i know right??

  • cute video love it!
