  • To cool the burner try using a bit of water mixed in with the methanol or covering a bit of the burner (or you could make a custom burner)

  • I know a few fellows who water their fuel a little bit. I've not run this one since hearing about that, but it is something that I will certainly try. I know at least one person who constructed a heat shield for the inner firebox to prevent this happening.

  • Hey Mr Occlusion, did you ever find a way to prvent that from happening? Or did you just go back to solid fuel?

  • I went back to solid fuel for the time being, and I've not run this one for at least a year, so I've not had a chance to muck with it. I know a few others using meths burners in theirs and they don't have the same problem. It might just be a quirk of this particular roller. Or else I'm just putting far too much heat under it.

  • AH HA! THOSE BURNERS DO WORK! im thinkin bout buyin one for my old d40 and im not sure about the size. i guess it works! thnx

  • do you think?

  • ...only when I have to

  • does your machine has rust in the chimney and so yes, do you know a way to get it away?

  • It wasn't rusted the last time that I looked at it... I think enough oil gets all over this thing that even the steel parts won't rust (I over oil habitually).
