Datsyuk, Malkin, Semin are all from Siberia, born into blue collar families, raised in industrial cities. None of them has ever attended college. It's no wonder they struggle with English.
A good comparison would be if we send Lebron James and Dwayne Wade to play in Russia, how well do you think they'll learn Russian?
"and um we know really uhh he come back to na home he try to be more play physical n uh more attack an uh we try to first and means we know its a fan like six player and we try to play easy and uh try to play ozone an we happy we can make it like we score first....." Thats what i got out of what he says from 0:59 to 1:20
i remember when i lived in wixom pavel used to come in to the tennis club and just sign some autographs eat some food and play tennis he is such a quiet guy we usually left him alone though but he is a very polite person
I love watching these two. Interviews and games.. By the way.. What a sweet backhand pass by Pasha to Z who ties it up in the last 4 seconds of regulation against Calgary. This is why Datsyuk is worth 2 mill more than Perry.
I know wat Pavel was thinking when they asked about his 3 goals he was like (the fuck! it's getting goals I get to the offense deke a little and shoot at the open part of the net dumbass...not like back home in Russia *all in Russian*)
The best part of this video is Zetterberg's face at 1:26. After Pavel's first incoherent response, both Pavel and Hank have this simultaneous incredulous reaction when Pavel is addressed yet again.
lol i love what he does after the "hannnk". like "hey man wtf, help me out here" haha and then the second question as he nods to z "man ask him the fuckin questions, fuck"
Sakic on the other hand, had one of the most feared wrist shots of all-time, played a solid two-way game, and was a prolific scorer who was able to score at will when his team needed him the most. Neither Datsyuk nor Zetterberg will have the resume Sakic has when they're done; they won't match either his 625 goals, or his 6 seasons of 100+ points.
@aeiouy123 yeah sakic is one of the best of all time, but you cant compare points. many more points were scored in older games because of the rules, goalies werent as good, equipment, etc. has changed. Thats why guys like gretz, mario, sakic, messier. Not sure their records can be touched even by the best of today, in which the skill level and speed is much higher, but because of those all time greats.
@GooseLeagueGamers I do understand your points there, but you have to also understand that Sakic's prime was played during a period known as the 'Dead Puck Era' where obstruction, hooking on the arms and legs, and a move called the 'can opener' were not penalized. You would see hulking d-men who barely knew how to skate employed by top teams to manhandle skilled forwards. Goalie equipment was also not limited in size back then, so you had goalies like Garth Snow with noticeably gigantic pads.
@GooseLeagueGamers You can definitely make your arguments about Gretzky's era though, because goalie equipment was inferior back then, and Patrick Roy hadn't popularized the butterfly style of goaltending yet. Gretzky, however, continued to dominate well into the early 90s, so he most definitely was skilled and did not merely feed off poor defenses and goalies. Mario Lemieux is a beast all together, playing most of his career in the 90s and early 2000s, dominating regardless of the defenses.
@GooseLeagueGamers He never had played a full season due to injuries, his battle with cancer, and finally back problems, but would win scoring titles handily over the course of 60 - 70 games. He basically helped Jagr become the dominant star he was in the late 90s and early 2000s, and was possibly the most skilled and prolific European player ever until Ovechkin came along. He was the European Michael Jordon to Ovechkin's Lebron James.
@GooseLeagueGamers When Mario came out of retirement in 2000 at the age of 35, and until he got injured a third of the way through the season, he scored at over a ridiculous 2 points a game pace, almost doubling the point total of his nearest competitor. He ended the 2000 season with 76 points in a mere 43 games. From 2000 until his final retirement in 2006 at the age of 40, he was the leading scorer in the entire league on an average point per game basis. No matter what era, he was unstoppable
@aeiouy123 - Yes true, now I understand where you are coming from. It was my mistake to classify mario with the gretzky era. You definitely covered my point though about all the easy points the were racked up before the butterfly style became popular.
You guys have to be kidding me. As good as Zetterberg and Datsyuk are, they are certainly not better than Sakic and Forsberg in their primes. Forsberg was outright DOMINATING, especially in the playoffs when he would score at a pace of 2 points a game. No one could take the puck away from him no matter how hard they checked, charged, or prodded. He was Joe Thornton before Thornton, only with a better shot and physical toughness.
I love how people argue on youtube. people that comment don't go back and see what you write about them. get a life. I'm a huge Red Wings fan and Pavs and Zetts are amazing, but Joe Sakic was an incredible player with a wicked shot and Forsberg was a stud, too.
Those who try to say that Sakic and Forsberg are better are mentaly ill !!! like these guys can skate! WTF could Forsber or Sakic do??? they are F legends!! they can't play right now, because the speed of NHL got Jagr and other players who left the NHL!

Oh, by the way, how many Hart trophies, Richard Trophies, Art Ross Trophies does Datsyuk have? Or zetterberg? Calders? 100 Point Seasons? What is their PPG Avg against Sakic and Forsberg? IF you folks truly believe they are better then the Sakic-Forsberg Combo-YOU THEN OBVIOUSLY NO NOTHING ABOUT HOCKEY! No disrespect but Sakic and Forsberg would out perform them with no problem. Like I said- They are good players but not elite and they are not even point per game players.
@dashasohn you are an idiot. datsyuk and zetterberg ARE a better combo. lets take into cosideration the defensive games. how many selkes do forsberg and sakic have? datsyuk and zetterberg are better than sakic and forsberg. and i love sakic.

O-Zone. lmfao. he looks so pissed when he hears he has to answer the second question, but i mean he has that "Gotta love him because he is foreign look."
you guys are stupid he is saying OWN ZONE. you know.. pretty much saying that the team played well in their own zone because hockey is played at both ends of the rink. he did not say o zone. and also, i thought he said OWN pretty clearly. i not once thought he said O-Zone. he probably doesnt even know how to say O-Zone in english. datsyuks a beast. best two-way player in the game. 'nuff said.
@Dangler96 cracks me up every time. It's almost like Zetterberg is his older brother or something. Man, I really hope these two dudes can get one more Cup. Datsyuk is finally playing extremely well this postseason and I'd hate to see the Wings get bounced.
Pens were lucky that Datsyuk was injured. I know that injuries are part of the game, hockey is team sport and all that crap but if Malkin had missed 4 games, Wings would've swept the Pens. Wings had the better but injuries killed them in the final, that's it. Pens are good but not THAT good. This year in a best of 7, I'd take the Flyers, Caps, Sharks or Hawks against the Pens.
out of all the euro and russian players coming through the leagues over the years and especially detroit. I think Pavel has picked up on the english word the quickest. I remember seeing interviews with him his first couple years and he needed a translator...not many media personel would touch a player who doesnt speak a lick of english but you have got to know whats going on in a insanely good hockey players mind. Hes the best in the league right now
I don't know how quick these guys picked it up... but Lidstrom, Alfredsson and Koivu speak english as well as any canadian or american could hope to... every once in a while you'll hear a bit of an accent but they sound real good
lol huh?almost every russian player needs an interrupter when they first come over.secondly he's not the best player in the league right now!!as long as ovie, malkin, and crosby are still playing he never will be either!!!!

I like how when Pavel says "Play O-Zone" Hank looks up a bit and he's like WTF?
LlamaInk 2 years ago 4
LMAO youre so right, he just looks up and then he just sorta accepts it. hahaha love the euro twins.
dreforsleep 2 years ago 3
@LlamaInk lmao.he doesnt know what hes saying
xoDalejrxo 2 years ago 2
you guys are stupid he is saying OWN ZONE. you know.. pretty much saying that the team played well in their own zone because hockey is played at both ends of the rink. he did not say o zone. and also, i thought he said OWN pretty clearly. i not once thought he said O-Zone. he probably doesnt even know how to say O-Zone in english. datsyuks a beast. best two-way player in the game. 'nuff said.

armenianply 2 years ago 6
@armenianply yea i kinda do just because shanny was so much more physical, the euro twins do play the better defensive side though

@Dangler96 cracks me up every time. It's almost like Zetterberg is his older brother or something. Man, I really hope these two dudes can get one more Cup. Datsyuk is finally playing extremely well this postseason and I'd hate to see the Wings get bounced.

I love all of the long pauses after Pavel is finished speaking. Pavel is easily the most likeable player in the NHL. Hilarious!

Hes the best in the league right now
m1sterh0tsauc3 2 years ago 4
I don't know how quick these guys picked it up... but Lidstrom, Alfredsson and Koivu speak english as well as any canadian or american could hope to... every once in a while you'll hear a bit of an accent but they sound real good
Stjonnypopo 2 years ago
lol huh?almost every russian player needs an interrupter when they first come over.secondly he's not the best player in the league right now!!as long as ovie, malkin, and crosby are still playing he never will be either!!!!
