Neither Datsyuk nor Zetterberg will have the resume Sakic has when they're done; they won't match either his 625 goals, or his 6 seasons of 100+ points.

You would see hulking d-men who barely knew how to skate employed by top teams to manhandle skilled forwards. Goalie equipment was also not limited in size back then, so you had goalies like Garth Snow with noticeably gigantic pads.

Mario Lemieux is a beast all together, playing most of his career in the 90s and early 2000s, dominating regardless of the defenses.

He was the European Michael Jordon to Ovechkin's Lebron James.

You guys have to be kidding me. As good as Zetterberg and Datsyuk are, they are certainly not better than Sakic and Forsberg in their primes. Forsberg was outright DOMINATING, especially in the playoffs when he would score at a pace of 2 points a game. No one could take the puck away from him no matter how hard they checked, charged, or prodded. He was Joe Thornton before Thornton, only with a better shot and physical toughness.

Pens were lucky that Datsyuk was injured. I know that injuries are part of the game, hockey is team sport and all that crap but if Malkin had missed 4 games, Wings would've swept the Pens. Wings had the better but injuries killed them in the final, that's it. Pens are good but not THAT good. This year in a best of 7, I'd take the Flyers, Caps, Sharks or Hawks against the Pens.
