It shouldn't be any less awesome because it's easy to do. Yes, compensation for acceleration and dispersion is mildly complex, but it's still only a second order DE. Proprs to the people who built it though; it is neat.

If you look though you can tell that they don't actually account for the acceleration of gravity or anything. Essentially all they did was make a scanner/printer. All they have to do is have an image in black and white and then scan the image and have a jet turn on when it's section is black and turn off when it is white. it is insanely simple. all you need is a little code and a whole bunch of valves that can be controlled by a computer, and turn them on and off.

Regardless, it's a pretty darn inventive idea, and the stuff in it is original and cool.

That is not as easy as it looks.

Having to compensate for the acceleration of the water, due to gravity, as soon as it leaves the dispenser is incredibly delicate. Who knows how long it took to perfect.

You can even tell if you watch closely how much faster the water at the bottom of the image is than the water at the top. And it's still legible.
