Christmas for me was always mainly about all of the symbols surrounding the Winter Solstice. And, the Baby Jesus story is actually just one more story in the tradition of the Light being born at the darkest time of year. There are as many beliefs about Christmas as there are people celebrating it. Nobody can tell anyone else what Christmas "should" or "shouldn't" mean to them. That is just silly, not to mention impossible. Happy Solstice to All, and to All a Good Night!

Today, a bunch of us went to see "The King's Speech", w/ Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, & Helena Bonham-Carter. Magnificent! Then we went to our wonderful local Chinese restaurant. Theater & restaurant were both JAMMED. I enjoyed Pork Lo Mein. We talked about the film. It doesn't get better than that.

And now (Dec. 26), Happy Boxing Day (Canadian), & of course (Seinfeld fans), Happy Festivus! Let the feats of strength & the airing of grievances begin!

Honestly, I feel like not celebrating Christmas for religious reasons is silly (Jehova's Witnesses excluded). I mean, I've been raised in an atheist household and I celebrate Christmas. Easily half of my friends don't belong to any church, and they celebrate Christmas. We celebrate Christmas not because of any religious reason but because it is strictly the most fun holiday. If the irreligious celebrate Christmas, why not everyone else?

@LittleDas thats a pretty dumb point because if you look at what christmas used to be (not the corporate money fest it is today), it was about celebrating Jesus' birthday, and the jews did not believe that jesus was the mesiah, so they are not going to go out of their way to exhalt him by celebrating his birthday like this (he is not considered anybody in the Jewish faith).
