another question commander, what kind of laserjet printer should i be looking for? most of the laserjets i see only do 8.5 x 11. won't i need something bigger than that to cover shirt how i want to?
thanks for the reply Commander. i just did some research and our wonderful GOVT made it illegal to grow hemp in the US cause they can't seperate the difference between hemp and marijuana - SMH shirts made of this material is far superior to cotton, but since you can only get the shirts outside the US the cost is higher. i was thinking of the hemp, so i can charge more for the shirts and maybe rappers would think it's coold to wear ;)
Commander, this is a great video, but i have some questions. i've been wanting to do a t-shirt buisness for a while now and i have a note pad full of raunchy yet fun comments that i wanna license and produce on my own, but i wanna do something different than just using cotton or cotton blends.
i wanna make my shirts out of hemp. what do you think of that? any downfalls? quality issues? is it an expensive material?
@PANTYEATR1 Well all I know is that hemp is lightweight yet very strong...like 3 times stronger than cotton But It may cost more for that reason. Also im not sure if these decals work on hemp but they most likely do...Research all before spending cash...The cheaper it costs to make, the more profit you will make.
Imagine walking around in a shirt that says "Blow me now, ill eat you later" LOL :)
I've used the transfer paper before and you can't use inkjet because they use water based ink and after just a few washes it fades badly.
The transfer paper itself isn't good quality unless you get the same transfer paper they in professional operations.
The process is easy but it takes some reasearch to get the right equipment and paper.
I haven't tried it in a few years so maybe the quality of transfer paper has improved but I wasn't impressed with what was available to the comsumer then.
I've thought about it.. This is something that goes in relation to lots of products out their.. Here's one: "No name" brand vs other food brands that could sometimes charge double, or even more. It is common to see variating costs for products in a currency society.. Some companies choose to charge more for their products, their is also variating wages which causes this.. I could write forever, but in conclusion the money system with increasing debts and product value will only lead to disaster
Dude your 100% right, i was going to msg on your last video and when the chaps reply came i had to laugh haha only then does the option of pay pal come.
I wanted some shirts for some well fucked up ideas for my band, glad you put forward the decal idea
it would be cool too if you put many small decals on one sheet so you can customize bowling shirts...some shirts look cool with just a little decal on the pocket or somewhere.
These iron-on papers rarely turn out as well as screen printed shirts and having worked with them in a professional setting, I am highly skeptical of transfer pages that claim they work well on dark shirts.
You are right, though.. companies like Cafe Press and Zazzle really do charge too much for their shirts. I could make most of my designs for less just going through a local screen printer but I just dont have the resources for that kind of enterprise. My only recourse is to use Zazzle.
Oh and for anyone who actually wants to do this as a business, take a free name from me. Honest, use it if you want. Just send me a free shirt sometime or something...
"Start Some Shirt!" T-shirts.
Maybe not so good for a brick and mortar storefront, great for the net.
If the city you live in has what's called a "garment district", like LA or SF has, you can also get shirts for less than a buck sometimes. I have about 20 black 50/50s I snagged a few years ago for around 20 bucks. That was a few years ago, but even if it's double that price now, that's darn cheap! If you screen print yourself (easy but messy), it's a couple of bucks, materials and elbow grease(charge 8 bucks for 'em!!). There are a lot of screen printing tutorials on youtube. Hope that helps.
I'd just like to say that I've become very impressed with your progress, both morally and intellectually. Additionally, I'm very pleased to be subscribed to you, keep it up commander don't let the trolls keep you down.

@PANTYEATR1 This may not be a good option for you if you want giant coverage...Maybe silk screening is a better fit for your ideas.

You can do screen print also, which a lot better quality and doesn't cost much more. But, it is only if you making a lot of shirts.

also something to remember is the full cotton shirts don't hold up to as many washes as the 50/50 shirts....

Good idea! I may just look into it, although I'm in Europe and that kind of things tend to be a little more expensive here. Still, great advice.
Good vid, I'd rate it 5 stars, but can't. So here it goes: ***** ;)
