most bleeding hearts think waterboarding is torture, but remember 99% of the time, the person being waterboarded is there becuase hes has a very close to link to terrorism, and the person being waterboarded most times, wouldnt think twice of beheading someone or killing them if they felt it helped thier cause..why do we have the follow the rules if no one else does? especially terrorists ask them about the geneva convention, youll get a knife in your throat
@lethrneck4 Show your evidence that 99% of waterboarded people are closely linked to terrorism. I'll save you the time, you can't. In fact most have no evidence against them at all which is why they can't be charged with a single crime or tried in any court. But this isn't only about these individuals. It's about whether America can retain any moral high ground or respect in the world while it tortures people back home. Or after Abu Ghraib, Baghram? The rest of the world has said NO.
@PktMma When you see the interviews he gave after this he's pretty much of the opinion that a person will say whatever they think you want to hear when waterboarded because you don't just feel a lot of unpleasant water being poured on you, but genuine impending death, unless you give your torturer what he wants.
To put someone in fear of impending death isn't enhanced interrogation. Its pure & utter torture whether its militants carrying out mock executions or the State waterboarding captives.
@Flabbergast101 Dude before you call anyone a pussy because of this you need to understand what waterboarding is. The victim is completely unable to move, when the water is poured onto the rag it enters their mouth and nose, this triggers a reflex and since the victim is unable to move they experience extreme pain and it can lead to death in many cases. The psychological effects of it can last for years. I would be amazed if you could stand it for more than 15 seconds.
I thought they had to ellevate the legs up into the air then pour the water into their face so it flows down into the nose and mouth causing a panic and drowning sensation therefore causing the perso to telllll you what ever you want to know!!! hah
@helpdonate1, then it is illegal under international law and the Geneva Conventions which makes the perpetrators war criminals guilty of crimes against humanity. All that's missing so far is a trial against them but every dog has their day and the Americans who sanctioned torture will pay for their crimes.
@FlyinSpaghettiMnstr7, so did the Nazis my friend but a few years after they'd been toppled the men at the top were either swinging by their necks or serving long prison sentences and some at a lower level are still being hunted down to this day. Times change. America won't always hold the place in the world it does now and those involved in torture and illegal wars will be brought to justice, God Willing.
@FlyinSpaghettiMnstr7 , no I'm comparing how above the law, untouchable and superior the Nazis felt in their day to how Bush and his cronies will be feeling today, ie. they'll always be the world's superpower, no court will try them, they're above all that and won't have to answer for their crimes. I'm saying time is a great changer and sooner or later a non-allied nation will supercede the US in terms of military power and they will no longer enjoy the immunity from prosecution they do now.
@Bloodlustless So this torture is illegal and a crime against humanity eh? What about an unborn child who is MURDERED for things THEY cannot control. You Liberals are SO COMEDY!! These people are trying to kill us, but heaven forbid we try and use whatever NON-LETHAL tactic we need to use to SAVE LIVES. Go kill a baby loser and call yourself PRO CHOICE
@helpdonate1 Funny. Because if you search up torture it says. "The infliction of pain and harm on a human being." Water boarding neither hurts nor harms a person. It just scares the crap out of people.
It is a tough call but one way you DON'T defeat terrorism is to become a terrorist yourself. You have to belive that you are right and your morals are better than the terrorists and ultimately that will bring you victory. If you give up all the qualities that once made you better than the terrorists then what have you become?
War is always nasty & I accept that but for me there's something especially disturbing about torturing helpless, unarmed, shackled captives. We should all be above that.
Truth serum doesn't work. If it did they wouldn't be using these barbaric methods of torture. But remember this torture isn't about getting the truth or preventing terrorism. It's about extracting a confession (any confession) under duress so you can put somebody behind bars or execute them then claim it as a victory in the "war on terror". It has nothing to do with getting at the truth or protecting the public.
One measure I think would be legal, more accurate and humane would be to attach suspects to polygraphs and question them that way. They aren't 100% reliable but get you far closer to the truth than waterboarding or electrocuting somebody's genitals, practices that make people tell you anything you want to hear whether its true or not.
Torture doesn't work, it's terrorism, it dehumanizes the people doing it, and inspires even more people to join the enemy. It belongs in the dark ages.
And if happens to innocent people then you become the terrorists of this world. Not to mention the use of torture actually inspires MORE people to take up arms against you, produces false info (ppl will say anything when tortured), and goes against the charter for human rights which forbids cruel and unusual punishments. But hell if it makes ya feel better who cares if it works? After all it's all about you ain't it?

It is what it is a form to extract info from a terrorsit or the enemy to prevent loss of life or gain the upper hand in any operation. The hilarious part is that this has been going on before many of us were even born but. OMG now its torture and its wrong. Why because it was brought in to the spotlight by freedom of the press and of course the U.S. needs to set the example by now condoning this form of extracting information from the enemy.
Thing is it's used mainly against innocent people and is ineffective. Some prisoners have been water-boarded several hundred times and yet as this video shows anyone with info would give it up right away. It's torture for the sake of torture.
I don't think there's anything funny about the fact mankind has been using various forms of it for thousands of years and I hope you meant CONDEMNING and not CONDONING in that last part of your post or are u another saying the US needs to support torture?
INNOCENT!?? INNOCENT??!? Get a GRIP man. Seriously.
Let me ask you one simple question, would you like it if ANY of the Gitmo detainees took up residence next door to you? And you don't get to pick and choose which ones. If you feel safe with that, move to Afganistan or Pakistan and you can live with as many terrorists as you'd like...
If ANY of them are guilty of crimes in America then they should have been tried in America. If they are guilty of crimes outside of America then they must be tried in the country where those alleged crimes were committed. That's how the law works.
How would you view being kept without trial in Afghanistan for a crime you didn't even commit in America? That's how ludicrously unlawful the Gitmo situation became. At last the US has a president who acknowledges this.

Poor terrorists. The next time they murder 3000 plus Americans we should definitely give them the honeymoon suite at the Waldorf, because they have rights too, ya know. Waterboarding saved American lives. I'm looking at you, Los Angeles.
9/11 = inside job. Americans killed 3000+ Americans. Anyone who thinks differently and supports the torture of other humanbeings based on that lie is a gullible fool devoid of any kind of reasoning or humanity.
Yeah, your Loose Change theories are certainly sweeping the nation, including the families of the people on the planes that cut into the buildings. They're ALL in on it, you know. Don't look now, but the black helicopters are surrounding you!
The only deluded ones are those who didn't and still don't see the most blatant false flag operation in American history unfold before their eyes. And that's saying something considering how many you Yanks have actually owned up to from the past.
These incidents are nothing new to people who know how your intelligence services, military and govt have conducted psy ops and black ops for decades. Keep being a good little sheep tho. They'll need people like you again next time.
Likewise. A brainwashed Yank who thinks a plane hitting a skyscraper has the exact same effect as a series of controlled explosions. Not worthy of anyone from the real world's time. Crackpot.
We are not doing any physical harm to the person. If you want to see torture go to some nations in Africa, Iran, Saudia Arabia, Syria, Pakistan, etc. We are giving these people the illusion of torture. No matter what you people say I am sure this has kept this country safe for the last 7 years, stopped attacks on our troops and other nations abroad. We won't "all get along"! I don't care if you think so or not, this is a needed. It may not be nice but nothing compared to being beheaded.
Well that's just too bad for people like you who support the toture of their fellow human beings because unless you've been living on another planet for the past 6 months you'll find that President Barak Hussein Obama has outlawed the practice of waterboarding and all other forms of cruel and unreasonable treatment, ie. torture. So suck it up Mr Torture Guy. The game's over for your lot and the world is heading is a better direction for it.
When it is done, it will just be more covert. You may think we are heading in a better direction, but all this did was tie up an arm in a fight. I don't like torture, but it is reality.
Don't complain when more of you end up being beheaded live on the net then, idiot. Violence begets violence. You reap what you sow and you're sowing a world of shit that's going to come back and bite you on the ass. But like I say not all of us support the torture of our fellow man. Only people like you.
Yet if we treat our "prisoners" better our soldiers and reports will still be beheaded on the net. I don't like it, but sometimes violence must be meet with violence. You can't always play defense thats how you get in trouble.
Still too bad for you. Your president has outlawed torture. But since you're so pro-torture don't let me see you bitching about how bad terrorists are anywhere on YouTube or I'll point out your hypocrisy to everyone by directing them here.
Your remarks are also akin to Bush who said "Bring it on!" on al-Qaeda. Now there are 10'sof thousands of dead or badly injured Americans. Well done in repeating the mistake of the dumbest man on the planet!
So because I support waterboarding I am not allowed to comment on terrorists or their activities? You know how much of a hypocrite you are? I will continue to put my opinion out there and I don't care what you think, because well I am self-confident enough that I don't need other peoples approval for my thoughts.
In ur attempt to show that u just dont give a damn about what anyone thinks you've just posted words to the effect that you do. You tried too hard Yank. Ppl who dont give a shit just dont give a shit. They wouldnt even post back. You did & more
Lets hope for ur sake the next Yank squealing like a pig as theyre slaughtered for the camera isn't u. I'm sure your views on torture would be, how shall I put it, "re-adjusted" if you were. Only by then you'd just be one more headless corpse.
Neither do I. That's why I posted the video! If you read the conversation above you'll see I'm the one who opposes torture no matter who is doing it and AKhunter85 is the one who supports it so what are you finding offensive about what I'm saying?
actually he only said he would end it. he reistated it along with rendition...so it is very alive and well at this moment....think I'm full of it? go research it. obama is a liar....watch "the obama deception" on google videos.
I do plan to watch that. I have it on a DVD but have yet to find the time to see it but yes, I will check it out with an open mind, although I can see just from its name it's clearly portrayed from a biased viewpoint against him. But still I will view it and if torture is continuing under him then there will be continue to be recriminations for Westerners everywhere around the world.
dude i could take it. brain power is legit power. Monks protested nam by lighting selves on fire and held perfect meditative posture until they were basically charcoal, showing absolutely no signs of pain. People capable of withstanding this sort of 100% psychological pain are also capable of seeing that it just doesnt help ANYTHING to cause pain to those around them, thus never coming to the point that they GET waterboarded. Waterbaording is neither good nor bad. it simply exists.
this fellow had a towle over his face which greatly reduced the amount and flow of water and he couldn't bear it. All torture is wrong no matter how you try to justify it, and two wrong don't make it right, so what if someone else does it, only the depraved of mind are for it for any reason. God says, "since you have shown no mercy, none shall be given you." Remember, the apple dosn't fall far from the tree
See actual death toll in Iraq. Type in google search; 1,000,000 civilians dead in Iraq
Waterboarding would be considered light compared to the treatment of security prisoners in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Any of the African Republics, Syria, Pakistan, China, North Korea, Russia and India and many more countries for that matter. Only in the western countries are security prisoners treated as humanly as possible. In most of the other countries I mentioned the prisoners will be tortured and then disappear without a trace or a word of news ever uttered about them.
Just Because other countries use worse torture is not an effective argument on why it is reasonable at all for us to do it. What it comes down to is this: Does it save lives of American Troops? yes, probably. Is it right? No, I don't believe it is. it all comes down to whether or not the end justifies the means. I don't believe it does. Our Morales sell for so little, but in the end, they're one of the few things we have left.
I guess the people who masterminded the murder of thousands of innocent civilians just be given massages and luxury suites. Some of these left winged idiots are ridiculous!
Why would anyone want to massage George Bush and Tony Blair? I know they like to massage each other's lying ego's but I don't see many others joining in, not even president elect Obama.
Ah, the good old fallacy of false dichotomy. If we're against torture, we're in favor of coddling our enemies. Are those really the only options you see?
When you go into the Navy Seals waterboarding is actually a part of the training as much as going through an actual CS chamber is which i had to do when I went in. Waterboarding is not torture in my opinion, your not physically harmed in anyway, it just creates the phsychological effect of being drowned, this is Disney land compared to what they do to our troops when they get captured
most bleeding hearts think waterboarding is torture, but remember 99% of the time, the person being waterboarded is there becuase hes has a very close to link to terrorism, and the person being waterboarded most times, wouldnt think twice of beheading someone or killing them if they felt it helped thier cause..why do we have the follow the rules if no one else does? especially terrorists ask them about the geneva convention, youll get a knife in your throat

dude i could take it. brain power is legit power.
