As the Brits would say, what a load of rubbish. This responsibility shit is just that, a load of shit, cars will only be zero-emission when its economically feasible, and that requires a new technology or the use of nuclear power, which idiots fear for no good reason. Everything this woman said, like having your car power the engine down at stoplights which will wear the bearings and cylinder surfaces out like no tomorrow, is rubbish.
80 or more percent of all engine wear is done at start-up, which is when your engine turns on dry bearings because of no oil pressure, allowing metal-metal contact between the moving parts instead of being cushioned by the constantly pumped oil.
A modern engine uses very little fuel at idle anyway. If you want to help save a little fuel and have an automatic transmission, put the car in neutral while stopped and your engine wont be wasting power spinning your torque converter.
@81broncoman whether the car is in gear or in neutral, it would still be spinning the torque convertor. It would only wear out your transmission linkage to do that every time you come to a stop. Also, the injector duty cycle would not change, even by 1%, between drive or neutral, it only changes when you press the gas and the maf see's more airflow or the tps sig raises.
Most of the worlds politicians have their hands in aoil companys we wont be seeing a big change in fuel for a long time maybe not until we run completely out of oil
London buses was useing trolley bus, your did they stop, There is not fuel being burned. So the bus is on a route. Why not go back the trolley buses, James
somer one shut this woman up not all countries can be developed to the samer levels with the same standards of living people have to be poor for people to be rich..........what are we going to do tuirn into a shit hole to let everywere be the same
we need inovation in the U.S. not stupid hybrid cars cars with lithium batteries to help cut down fuel consumption are even worse for the enviroment what happens when the batteries bad they just get thrown into land fills poluting the enviroment evenmore. i garuntee there is already a solution to the worlds polution crisis but the oil companys wont let it happen.
A lot of fuel is wasted in the USA by pointless STOP signs and endless road junctions. Legally, you must stop at a sign even though you can see nothing coming for 1/2 mile! Wasteful on fuel, time and brakes. Endless road intersections with "dumb" traffic lights, on RED despite nothing coming the other way. The cure is ROUNDABOUTS, as in all over UK! They keep the traffic flowing. Cannot understand why only UK has these.
Ermm.. By 2050 it will already be too late, the whole ecosystem will be messed up and it's an irreversible process.
Maybe people will soon realise how one man's greed can turn the world into the mortally death defying planet we have now, I just hope by that time it's not too late.
Ah hell, why not! We already have cars that produce NO emissions such as; electric cars, cars that run on lithium batteries. There is a model car that you can find that uses water for fuel. What the hell. This is all BS. These oil industries must be paying people off to keep them hush-hush.
By 2050? Make me laugh! Man is certainly underestimated here. Oh, yes I forgot, all the billionaires have to make sure everything is in proper order so they can make more money. Is this where the red tape comes from?
Why isn't man utilizing the 3000 active volcanoes under the ocean and many on land to make electricity? Isn't using coal, diesel & nuclear fired generators hugely decadent?
There is no such thing as zero emission vehicles. Where do people think the electricity to charge batteries come from?

@81broncoman
Why would turning off your car at stoplights wear your bearings and cylinder linings?
It does sound like rubbish to me too.

you have no understanding of how a cars engine oil system works do you?

No I don't. Thats why I asked the question...
