Hi there I've had memories of ireland,I've enjoyed your video.and the older chap talking what a sweet guy,can you give me ingredients for both breads.I would love to make it for my hubby here in England.thankyou so much....
thank you for your comment. County Mayo, what a beautiful county and wonderful people. We visited there in 2002. My dad, brother and sister and myself. I love the accent too. and glad I recorded his voice. Every time I make a soda bread, I think of mom & dad and still smile..You made me smile today too. Thank you.
I love Ireland and Irish food and butter are really yummy. I have cherished memories of our Irish mom baking soda bread, some plain, other with raisins and some with caraway seeds. They were a special treet.
Thanks so much for the memories this vid stirred. My own dad (passed a good while ago) used to love both making and eating soda bread, and also loved to regale us with such old favourites as Phil the Fluter's Ball, Paddy McGinty's Goat etc etc.
happy to share a memory that reminds you of yours. Great men that they were, bringing joy to their families. You might enyoy a video my niece has on UTube "Paddy Joe Wilkie sings Danny Boy"
Dad was 99 yrs old years old when he recorded this. He always made folks smile. My brother always wrapped up the remaining soda bread for him to take home. Very happy memories.
God bless this good-spirited man. It's refreshing to see someone so mature retain such a young and playful soul. Thank you for putting a smile on my face! :)
Nice music.

My grandmother was from Co. Mayo and she made awesome soda bread with raisins. I miss hearing the accent...all my relatives from there are gone now.

Love your videos... beautiful memories.
Soda bread and Kerrygold are definitely things I miss from my travels to Ireland. Actually, Irish food and Irish dairy in general!

How did your soda bread turn out? Thanks for your reply. Yes, life is good. Keep on smiling.

@Grannybid - It turned out great, actually! (I used to be "vioilettesmile"). My 12-year old son loves it and calls it "his" bread now!
Hope you're all well!
