  • Yeyeahhhh

  • the first blocking shown was nonsense.. the guy holds the knife downward without even pointing to its victim.. immature assholes

  • when hes trying to stab you, you can do the x block grab his arm and do a osoto gari or osoto gaeishi

  • Comment removed

  • that blocking is called x blocking

  • I do not like saying negative things...so...goodbye!

  • some of this is JUDO but most of it looks like filipino escrima

  • Also, when you was blocking, all he was throwing was 'hooks'. I doubt anyone would hook with a kinfe, they'd come in with a quick, short jab. If he did hook with his right hand, you could enter in on his left side, avoid the knife, and he'd be open. Look really closely, he never ONCE tries to hit him with the knife. Even if he didnt 'block' the knife would miss because it's going around his body. This is a very cheap video.

  • @KurtCobain198666 See "Knife attack myths 2"on Youtube for a good look at how people really attack with knives. It ain't what the dojo dancers teach their students.

  • Another thing, he stays too close to the guy with the knife. If someone tries to throw a PUNCH enter in. The less momentum they build, the easier to deal with it. If they have a knife, it doesnt matter if you get closer, they don't need momentum, just a constant application of minimal pressure and its in you. Best to slide back, take your longest weapon (leading leg) and strike the closest targer (knee) If thats a real knife, i'm chuck norries, coz your arms would've been cut.

  • Yea, you blocked EVERY knife strike there with the inside of your arms. You WILL get cut like that, arteries will get nicked. Even the smallest cut, you go into shock, you second guess your movements and its over. Also when he was 'hooking' the knife up, you was leaning over and blocking. If he's aiming for your gut, leaning over and limiting the distance between the knife and target=thick.

  • OK all those blocks are great-but i would want to seize the knife arm --for two reasons

    1. it immobilizes the weapon- and since no disarm is ever perfect--you minimize damage and increase your chances at survival.

    2. If he is not on any drugs- his focus becomes the possibility of you gaining control of his weapon to use against him.- this psychologically puts the defender at an advantage. if on drugs--then better practice for someone who wont feel pain. use incapacitating techniques.

  • is there still a judo class in P.I?

  • this sucks. better check out silat harimau berantai or krav maga

  • cool

  • You all should also check out Ed Parkers American Kenpo i like the looks of it

  • This is bullshit. as bad, if not worse than systemma. The music is also shite:P

  • cool, but that is not judo!

  • don't judge the art for how they look, some art may look nasty but more effective specially the part of blocking drill than with other art with flashy movement. this is what jkd is all about and

bruce lee will even vote a thumbs up for these guys! mabuhay kayo bro!

  • Almost as shit as the systema bollocks

  • to static. and krav maga is good but not the best.

  • There are some teachers out there who teach you REAL REAL life defense meaning they were former prison gaurds when a guy in prison stabs you its just BOOM BOOM and BOOM stab after stab after stab he has his arm up to protect himself as well looks simple but it svery affective. Anyway people who teach you how to defend yourself in real life are guys like the Doc Broghers and Dan Inosanto is probably very good. I also recommend the Valente Brothers because they use more then just grapling in BJJ

  • Krav Maga's knife defense is 10 billion times better than this and makes more sense.

  • yeah, not realistic

  • Thats not Judo.

  • maybe not in lower belts but over brown i think that is self defence

  • realistic my ass!

  • I've seen real knife fights in bars, I've been stabbed, and it doesn't go down anything like you see in this vid--unless the attacker is retarded. What you see in this vid is not judo.

In real life, if you have to take a knife away from someone who is determined to kill you, even if you are a judo expert...well, see 1 Samuel 17:47 "for the battle is the Lord's." God decides who will win and who will lose. Basic Calvinism.

Vist my channel page for more videos on Calvinism.

  • if you are are very good at martial arts you can hope winning versus a knife holder but practicing running shall be a better idea :)

    no god in this

  • living in reality or illusion? not realistic

  • I totally agree. but this is the closes thing to a defence against a knife that works. I know exactly how you feel. I personally believe self defense is an illusion in our heads.

  • Do not go to that extreme. You probably believe that because you haven't found REAL self defense teachers. If self defense is an illusion, then why the military train themselves with self defense methods? Or, it is that you consider yourself a more intelligent and wiser guy than military intelligence experts? Use your common sense. Self defense is not illusion. But the fact that there are many FAKE fighting methods, well that's a different history.

  • military fighting is a different strategy. Nobody wants a soldier thats scared to defend. So they practise to install courage in the line of defence. If someone see a blade and runs. That would not make them effective. So military ppl need to learn not to have doubt in their heads. have you seen how many soldiers in action are maimed with blades thai, cambodia etc not much gun use with these type of soldiers

  • There are defffinatly teachers out there who teach real life self defense some are former prison gaurds, or they were policemen, Lee Gray was a corrections officer he teaches Goju, The Dog Brothers teach corrections officers how to disarm a knife properly. Then you got Dan Inosanto who's a legend he knows so many arts silat, FMA, JKD, and recently he's learned BJJ, BJJ is another good art but people think its mearly a ground system ITS NOT. BJJ can incorperate, throws, punches, kicks, headbutts

  • Unless there is more to this type of judo, this looks more like silat to me.

  • in a real knife fight stabs aren't used much cause the got to much chances of being deflected and countered quick slashes is what really happens

    still good vid

is this actually judo cause it dosent look like it

  • well im not expert but it look like SILAT combat to me.

By the way-i think youre right! this kind of practicing look very realistic.

    good stuff-5 stars!

  • Lots of good posts here. I must say, if you are going to do knife defenses you must practice thousands of times for years! You must practice with partners who can "shut off" the fact that they know what you are going to do. They must adopt a mindset that dictates realism! Good discussion!

  • With no knife, I've been taught to never stand infront of someone striking you. Boxing, muay thai, tkd etc..... no instructor ever says stand there and block over and over. Why would you stand there with a knife? Not realistic. Going to get you in trouble.

  • wow! that dangerous@! bro..

  • Actually, his defense is exactly what defense experts have said to do. Just in case the knife does penetrate flesh -- at least its your arm rather than your lower intestine.

  • aren't you supposed to govern the USA? Jesus, you're stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan and here you are, watching movies on youtube and commenting videos. It's nice to be a president of usa

  • @georgehwbush doesn't matter if he cuts your arm, abdamon, or pinky. As soon as that first cut hits 'boom' you go into shock, second guess your movements, move to fast, or to slowly. It's over on the first cut. Also if an expert tells his student to block with the inside of his arm, he needs to learn about basic anatomy. You get one cut there and your going to spray arterial blood everywhere.

  • @georgehwbush IF you see his knife, best to stay back and strike his knee, he'll put that foward first to walk towards you. Strike the knee, then run. He doesn't stab you and cant run after you. If you don't see the knife until the last second, martial arts goes right down the shitter, do what it takes to survive.

  • you can get stabed a million times if you block like that.aikido rules

  • @TranceTrooper the defence in aikido is fair, but thats if you train in a school where they attack realistically. Because in most aikido dojos- they dont.

  • in the tv news of Peru, a month ago it said that a soldier that was the national champion of tae kwon do tried to figh with 3 drunken men in the street, one of them with a knife, the soldier died

  • Maybe there's many people around talking about suicide and stuff, but not without reasons. He who thinks that it's possible to fight an average knife fighter bare-handed hasn't ever confronted real knife fighters. Everything in this video will work in a movie, but not in the street. Am I wrong? Well, just try and then tell me if you're alive to do it.

  • "He who thinks that it's possible to fight an average knife fighter bare-handed hasn't ever confronted real knife fighters"

Exactly how often do you meet "real knife fighters" out there in the streets and how often do they attack you?

  • If you're an expert then you train with "real knife fighters". If you don't train with real knife fighters, then you are not educated to have an opinion. You question his knowledge, but clearly you have no knowledge.

  • You didn't answer my question. How often do you meet "real knife fighters" out there in the streets and how often do they attack you? you see a difference between TRAINING and REAL LIFE SITUATION?

  • That's my question to you! I don't think you can train for real knife fighting. You can practice and do drills for technique, but real knife fighting is a lose lose situation. I practice these techniques in a gym and I have learned in a real situation my chances for victory are still very small. Expert knife fighting is not the same as being unarmed in a knife fight. Understand where I'm coming from?

  • I can't agree more. Good drills for teaching timing but nothing else. In all my years of training I've learned that you never confront someone with a weapon. The better I get, the more I realize that you can't beat a knife.

  • many people talking shit about suicidal or not, and what to do or not... like they been in many knife fights, pppffff

  • thank it help..the info given is good

  • First this guy blocking in this vedeo is a complete moron. This is not a realistic knife fight. FIRST, your attacker is not going to keep jabbing he will slash. SECOND he is blocking the knife and putting his heart and throat next to the knife. DONT FOLLOW THESE GUYS. I would put money that they HAVE NOT been in a knife fight. The more fancy it looks the LEAST EFFECTIVE it is.

  • @dudefromhenderson with all due respect...have you yourself ever been in a knife fight?

  • @dudefromhenderson

he's using x-guard, which comes from arnis. its actually a form of brush grab strike.

  • @dudefromhenderson I completely agree. I'd also like to add that their is nothing Judo about this video. Just so everyone knows.

  • Arm locks and wrist locks with a guy seriously coming after you with a knife is suicidal.

  • I once asked a karate master no lesser than 5th Dan, What happen if someone attacks you with a penknife and his answer was "RUN" as fast I can.

  • he was telling you to run, he probably wouldn't have had to.

  • they just showing basic blocking...

    try to observe....

  • im not saying your bad or anything its just im saying you should try to depend more on one hand to block then imediately follow it up with a counterstrike with the other... that way even if you dont counterstrike you can be a little more flexible and adjust to any other sudden movements of the opposition.

  • here is the thing.... when someone fights with a knife... they dont only try to hit you with the knife... so when you block with both hands... you leave your entire body open to their fist... or a kick... which then most likely in a situation of which someone is trying to kill you... will be followed by a fatal blow with the knife...

  • I guess it would be harder to defend against the knifes attacks if he was actually trying to hit you... Anyone who would really try to hit you with a knife would kill you if you tryed to defend like that...

    Also this is not judo

  • are you sure that that is judo? it looks like fma to me

  • How is this judo?
