I see Xavier Cugat on violin in the first row. I think Bob Crosby would have had a lot of pressure on him trying to sing a tune from his older brother's movie, Brunswick probably put in their two cents in, too,
Hello i was wondering do you have any of these covers to copy, my husband and his brothers who are musicans, their grandfather Leo Kronman was with Anson weeks from 1929 to 1933 we have pictures and some radio recordings but we dont have any brochers or covers or programs, how could we get these??
Super Weeks record and what a nice transfer for us YouTubers to enjoy. BTW Bill Moreing joined the band before 1933 as I have a number of Weeks sides from '32 on which he sings.
I've always been baffled why Weeks didn't use Bob Crosby to do the vocal on "Buckin' the Wind." He sang on that session -- it would have been a perfect fit. Especially since Bing never cut a disc for the song.
Boy! Anson Weeks. Is Tops On My List Of Dance Orchestras. I Love The Fact He Was Still Using A Banjo In His Band When Most Other Bands Abandoned It`s Use In By The Mid 30s. Great Post As Always. Thanks.
Great recording. I didn't realize the Anson Weeks orchestra was so large,..I think I counted seventeen members in the photo you posted. Another top notch recording,..great job.
Great sound! It's so great hearing such high-quality recordings of that time period.

Anson's best period, easily, and his most distinctive. A gimmick was a gimmick, but you can copy a gimmick. Nobody could quite copy that beat.
Moreing, who sang, was one of the violinists. Bob Crosby, in the photo, came on the band in '33 and recorded with it too.
