  • fucken Seth efrikans, hope the pilot can "Pork his Core" better than land that Aircraft

  • it just amaze me that 3 ppl are flying such a big flying machine, good job

  • Why would you make a museum out of a fucking 747? things must be boring in SA

  • nice...nice!

  • I used to believe that things like that happened only on Flight Simulator

  • It put display in museum hanger and Next 100 or 150 years, It will be scrap.

  • ooooh shit!

    super pilots

  • were does SP stands for

  • @Waddeck43 Special Performance

  • @Waddeck43 The SP " Special Performance " 747 was shorter than a standard 747. The SP, being shorter and lighter could fly far more distance than its bigger brother or sister. South African and Quantas type routes, best regards.

  • good lord. i would never even think of putting a 747, even the SP model, on a runway that narrow and that short. those are some outstanding pilots.

  • belive you me .. if this 747 wanted to it would get up and fly again . in 1994 in england at luton airport a 747 had to land on the runway because of a problem . i am not sure what the problem was . the runway was said to be much to short for it to take off .. when she took off she was off the runway 3/4 before the end .

  • @razor2001wgc They probably would have to remove all the interior furnishings and take off at near zero fuel in order for it to be light enough to take off from that short a runway. I don't doubt it could take off, but not with any sort of load.

  • Credible. The Rand Airport main runway is 5600 feet. Either of the two 747s can take off with minimal fuel/zero payload and go to Johannesburg Airport 8 miles NE and refuel. Heck, the new 747-8 was off in less than 5,000 feet, I witnessed it myself earlier this month.

  • Stubby little yoke, isn't it?!

  • Nice fkying bby the Springbok piolets there!!

  • this 747 is the personification of south african airways.

it will never take off again.

  • lucky pilots!

  • awsome skill by the pilots!

  • very nice, great job!

  • Very very nice!!!. Anybody can tell me what is the name of the song??. Thanks

  • The Show Must Go On by Queen!

  • Thanks man ;)

  • I had to cry watching this video. One of the coolest aircraft put to rest... Sp's were the best! Does anyone know if any SPs are still flown anywhere in the world? Really sad especially with this song... :')

  • they are sometimes flown in airshows, but rarely. last year one was flown at mirimar air force base for a show. wish i was there ;) haha

  • Cool one dude, rare filming opportunity.

  • Oh, but it could take off. Build more runway.

  • :'(

  • Ha ha, that was the first thing that I thought of!!!

  • Ahah, fantastic response man

  • am I wrong, or does he actually land with a crosswind as well?

  • 747> a380 all day..

  • SP was like the shorty of the family...Great piloting skills....

  • 747s are going back into flying, at least the new versions are

  • It is better to have it in public display than havin´it scrapped. It won´t fly anymore but still remains in one piece.

  • a sad day ps american flew 747sp not any more

  • that's weird, I came back home from disney world the same day this video was shot.lol

  • they arent retired... i was at alanta air port like 2 weeks ago and saw like 3 parked in the international flight zone... i only remember only one of the airline it was china airlines. lol plus i went to las vegas in april and saw one for America Airlines (AA) take off and vigin alantic leave its gate so ha they arent retired

  • American and Virgin Atlantic do not fly 747SP's.

  • oh lol im might be thinking of the 747- 400

  • american used to, up untill 1994.

  • american had them for low passenger roughts

  • Well, AA did fly the SP years ago for flights to London Gatwick. But Virgin had no SP.

  • Boy those go-arounds sounded great!!!

  • who was the pilot ?

  • this aircraft is smaller than normal 747-400

  • at least they did not scrap it as tey have done with so many others

  • Amazing that the runway surface didn't fail under that much weight.

  • very sad,747sp's is one of the successful aircrafts in the past. great vid. so long 747sp! youve done a good job

  • Lol, that's what I call a man with HUGE balls xDD

  • sad times :(

  • It's always sad to see such a beautiful bird grounded for good.

  • Fantastic! Great airplane, great video.
