Thank God we get to listen to this recording! It'll do for now. It brings me back to that night, in that supper club in Toronto, where he whisked me off, breathless and holding onto my chair! One of my best memories of him...(siggghhhh)
I saw Kurt do this in Toronto last Sept. At 59 years old, I never thought ANYTHING could make my heart flutter like a school girl's again, but THIS song did! I was breathless when it was finished!
Like the sketch on "Saturday Night Live" about Antonio Banderas, it was "Too sexy! Oh no, too sexy for the bambinos!" I was ready to crawl into bed with him right then and there!!! (I wish!!!) Kurt's my one and only...
@1tenicatita: I agree - he's a very sexy man, isn't he. I love songs that bring out a vulnerable quality in him. He does that kind of intimacy very well, much better than other male singers can. And he hits some incredible notes here!
Oh my Goodness!!! I saw him sing this 5 days ago at the Detroit Jazz Fest - he was stupendous! Been looking for this tune by him ever since - no one has posted any of his set from the Jazz Fest yet - and had almost given up finding it. THANKS for posting!!! I remember when "The Baby" made this record - and he has done it right, too.
i still have this recording on cd. its from a set he did at jazz alley in seattle washington. lots of great stuff on this bootleg. also its from about 2002
Thank you for posting this!! I was at a performance when he did this song and I was floored. It was right after he interviewed Nancy Wilson at IAJE. This brought me to tears. This is why i love Jazz.
Randomly found it back when I used to download music on Limewire. Now I'm a devoted iTunes shopper, the only downside is that you don't come across stuff like this! Its nice to know that a few have his fans have found it on youtube :)
I was at this gig, and it was truly magical! This recording was made by someone at my table. You can even hear me swoon a little at the end. ;)

Whenever I hear Kurt Elling sing anything, I can't seem to hit the 'like' button enough times to express just how much I like it.
