  • Why would u do such a thing? He is obviously not enjoying himself, but desperately trying to get out! You can even hear the little grunts he makes.

  • ragdolls are VERY docile so i wouldnt expect them to scratch. i do recommend feeding ur cat the RIGHT food(ex. grilled chicken with vits) and playing with CAT TOYS to prevent overweight, wetting them often in a week can make him sick. Usually it comes naturaly for an animal to swim (even horses can), cats dont like water so i dont think ur cat would JUMP into a pool and drown like a kid would. its funny how owners tend to wanna over exercise their pets when they themselves are out of shape :O

  • Cats happily put themselves into harms way when chasing things they like. Bees for example. Our ragdolls quite often chase them and try to eat them, regardless of the risk of getting stung (which both have been, 1 had to be rushed to the vet). Chasing a birds/insects and falling into the pool is a big risk for a cat. Why should there be a strong need to teach children to swim, but not pets? I applaud the owner for teaching their cat the skills to survive the back yard.

  • @midspaceAU what are you talking about? there's no need to teach cats, or dogs, to swim. they do it naturally, unlike human children. he obviously knows to go to the side and is able to get out by himself, so how is putting him in the pool helpful? chipmunks also can swim

  • @midspaceAU by nature, no one teaches them. but they can swim forever, they'll still drown eventually without assistance. that's why pool companies sell ramps specifically in case something like that happens.

  • People are freaking out over nothing. He's obviously being watched carefully and is learning a very crucial skill that may come in handy someday, like if he falls into a pool. Calm down!

  • @neobabe120788 it shouldn't ever have to come in handy as ragdolls are not meant to be outside unsupervised.

  • 26 people suck. Sure he may not have been to happy to be in the pool, but not once did he try to hurt anyone. They say all cats will bite if there scared so he must not have been that scared, just uncomfertable. He's so cute I love him all fluffy, at the the end he looked like a completely different type of cat. I bet Trig was like "Dude what happen to you?" LOL!

  • @Eszra i know it makes me sad when people tell me that i am harming him. i would never harm my cats -but yes, i will put them in uncomfortable situations when they are with me, so they can learn to understand them. much like swimming - it's important to me that they know how to swim and how to deal with swimming when they are in the situation - glad you understand.

  • He's like "Noo! No thanks! Escape! Must escape!" lol

  • I can tell you're really giving a him a versatile lifestyle.

  • my Ragdolls have never been in the pool, but I have to wrestle them to get out of the shower when I go in. They also like to sit on the edge of the bath and bat the water with their paws :) I'm sure Charlie's owner wouldn't let him swim if it caused him distress. hugaliciousragdolls.webs.com

  • @angela3067 you are correct - charlie's owner was filmming this video and is typing this message and I would never ever put him in harms way on purpose. i have heard of cats being very fond on water, i don't think charlie man is so much.

  • Go, Charlie, Go, Go, GO!! :) Good boy, GOOD Charlie!

  • Omygawd!!! This is sooo awesomee!!! I want a ragdoll!

  • This Ragdoll is clearly distressed and is trying to get out of the pool. The fact that he is obviously trying to escape and is crying confirms this. Why would someone want to upload a video of them committing animal cruelty?!

  • @davidsmith633 David, as with a human that cannot reach the bottom, when swimming a cat cannot stay in one place - so of course, he is going to swim towards the sides and try to get out. Now he gets on a raft that I've taught him how to get on. If this is considered animal cruelty, then I suppose you'd consider my cat's distress at the vet as animal cruelty as well. Charlie is the happiest cat I know and believe it or not, he likes the entertainment.

  • @davidsmith633 BTW, my last cat died at 19.5 years old and rode a jetski. I take great care of my felines and expose them to many situations so that they are well-rounded and have been complimented on their personalities because of it. I am sorry you think this is animal cruelty.

  • Oh he's so good, Jen! Love the blue in your pool, too.

  • @133Pip wish it were my pool! it's my parents' pool. it's painted black on the bottom, rather than white - so that's why it has a different appearance. he is such a good swimmer. i need to get in there with him and see how he is with me. i think he would be better as he is used to me.
