It took Kobe seven seasons to reach the 10,000 point mark, from his rookie season (1996-1997) up to this game (2002-2003)

Since then, he played five more seasons to reach 20,000 points (2006-2007 season at the Madison Square Garden against NYK).

Now Kobe is around 27,000+ points in his career as of last season. On the 2012-2013 season (I believe there's no 2011-2012), he would surpass Shaq for the 5th spot, nearing Wilt by just 3,000+ points. More seasons for Kobe and he may get near Jordan.
