my dad had an old LP record of the original music from War of the Worlds, pretty creepy, and i got nightmares from it cause of the tripods on the cover. I compared them to platforms out on the ocean because of the similar legs. When i saw this in the cinema and heard the noise it was really scary

Yeah I'm a sucker for cool sounds 2.  I wonder what makes it so resonant. The sound of a wolf howl, the cry of a peacock at sunset, The blare of a tornado siren and the sound of the Jewish shofar all have a similar eerie resonance. It's something primal.

Some of the scenes in this movie actually scared the shit out of me. I haven't been scared by a sci-fi movie since I was a kid watching the Invaders from mars. It was a cerebral fear and those can be pretty emotional When that thing came up out of the ground and started walking I was actually scared shitless.
