@Thoth1ontheroad -- thank you thank you for your encouragements, i really value your insight and comments very much.. i will do my best to keep up with the koto instrument, its a very discipline and strength demanding instrument, i am getting a little better each day with dedicating more time to practicing it.
@nivsha Its one of my favorite instruments. Really love though some of the improv material your exploring with it though (which is why I am intrigued by this piece). I like the idea of using the natural soundboard of the instrument as a procussion accompanyment (people have been doing it with guitars for ages; so why not other things).
Thank you for enjoying and your comments ! I have a few new cds being prepared for release check back often to my channel or subscribe to find out more.. In the mean time there are huge catalogues online of contemporary koto pieces by many amazing composers. I only perform original improvisations in the moment which can never be repeated. Free style !
I listen to very few things but for koto I love to listen to Tadao Sawai, there are many of his CDs floating around online especially at a site called Far Side Music based out of the UK, they distribute a ton of world music from all heritages. I'm inspired by everything around me and I create from the depths of my own emotions and life experiences. Thanks.
Thank you for enjoying my improvisation on the koto. I started a lot of the tapping and percussive sounds on the 'zheng' instrument yes. This is the only recorded version. I perform with a singer in the city and one of her pieces I do tap on the zheng mainly. We have to record that to share on here. Thanks for reminding me!
My dear you give this music so much drama and life. It is a crime you are not on the world stage, isn't it a crime everyone? To watch and to listen, puts me in that place of imagination and wonder. This is what music today lacks, this is something you pour out through you music continually!
LOL! Thanks Tomaji. Nope my hair is all coiled up on all parts of my head and held together by a silver, pointy crown from a Miao tribe in China. You can't really tell cos the video has a tiny glow effect on it, plus I need to get better lighting!
try puente de los alunados by gerardo nuñez, i'm sure you would like it.

One video was enough to get me subbed :) Was the drumming/tapping done on the 古筝 as well?

Praise Vi An,

This artist never ceases to astound me,

Love the rhythym of this improv, almost sounds like a build-up of some sort--like a conflict ready to happen.
Great music! Keep it up.

It sounds a little like a Zambra (I play the zombra form on my dulcimooer a bit). Good Job!
