Vicky had to keep playing as if Mac was still alive. She told me that doing that and having to go onto The Today Show the next morning after Doug's death was the hardest things she had to do. Ever the professional, she knew the show "must go on" I love her so!

Yes. The music playing in the background when Rachel reads Mac's final letter to her is the opening theme from the movie On Golden Pond by Dave Grusin. You'll hear it again at the funeral during Michael's eulogy.
