@spartan55874 No twin turbos. Only one. I drove both the GN and GNX back in the 80's. A friend had a chipped GN that ran 11.4 @ 121. GNX turbo is bogger, with more boost and better intercooler, but still only one turbo.
I'm not even into muscle but the GN is a sexy, sexy car. Very angular and very purposeful looking, almost like the Lamborghini Countach of muscle cars.
Although the GN is kind of discreet, whereas the Countach... well it's discreet if you compare it to say, a plane crash.

BUT... the factory time for that Civic is 16.5s secs in 1/4 mile, and had to be HEAVY MODDED to make 4.5 seconds less, that almost a fully modified Honda, using 90% if its displacement.
The GNs time factory is 13.3s secs, and was slight light modded with a basic modd. and did 12 secs. 1 sec. less. and its using a small portion of its displacement like a 5%. This is not even a GNX.

Crappy MPG? My 1988 Buick Park Ave was good for up to 32 MPG highway. Sold it with 223,000 miles and still running good. My neighbor's 2002 Accord (smaller car) can barely make 30 MPG highway. New Hondas are inferior to 20 year old Buicks.

Toyota posted its biggest loss ever last year. Nissan and Honda are soon to follow. Nobody is buying ANY cars right now, period.

That was not a "Fast" Gn by no means. It ran pretty good, as did the ricer car. It cost very little to get a good running stock Turbo Regal into the 11's.

Factors that stand up for the GN is higher safety and maybe greater endurance of the engine (although if it was used in everyday traffic, it wouldn't count - both lived up to the same endurance).
So being a huge fan of the GN I still say the Civic won the race of advancement.

Crappy MPG? My 1988 Buick Park Ave was good for up to 32 MPG highway. Sold it with 223,000 miles and still running good. My neighbor's 2002 Accord (smaller car) can barely make 30 MPG highway. New Hondas are inferior to 20 year old Buicks.

I'm saying the 1988-1990 3800 V6 was better, and still is better in some respects, to new Honda, Nissan, and Toyota engines. It took Honda nearly 15 years to match the tpower of the 3800 V6, fuel economy forget. Of course I's take a new Accord over a 20 year old clunker Buick with 300,000 miles, what idiot wouldn't . My point is no new Nissan, Toyota, or Honda V6 matches the reliability and fuel economy of the 1988-1990 GM 3800 V6.

Um, Buick Line Cancelled? You better do your research. Why are 2009 Buicks still being sold? The 3800 V6 was named one of Ward's 10 best engines of the 20th century. It was sold from 1975-2008. 33 YEARS. If you want to be technical, the design was there since 1962 on a different motor. A 33 year run is certainly not junk. Toyota posted its biggest loss ever last year. Nissan and Honda are soon to follow. Nobody is buying ANY cars right now, period.

Factors that stand up for the GN is higher safety and maybe greater endurance of the engine (although if it was used in everyday traffic, it wouldn't count - both lived up to the same endurance).
So being a huge fan of the GN I still say the Civic won the race of advancement.
