i solo'd the viscount son quest ALONE no companions at level 8 and that was my first playthrough i just stopped and looked at all my skills and planned it out like u should do with ur char and all the others.

According to one video I've seen a duel with the Arishok featuring a rogue archer, he used Decoy to confuse the Arishok, allowing the player to continually strike him with arrows while he was confused.

Dueling with the Arishok as mage Hawke is the way to go, as you can dump both ranged attacks and close-up attacks on him. Anyway, most of this fight was a total waste of video.

@Crazyware212 This fight was just bad no matter the class. You pretty much have to play it the exact same way, either range attack and run or stun him, get a couple hits in and run. Wouldn't be a very heroic or entertaining fight for the crowd anyways. Considering the opponent is insanely tough and can heal, there aren't many choices.

I wished they still had the Ranger specialization, summoning bears to tank. But NOOOOOOO, they want to make archers a bad class in 1v1s. Furthermore, Toegoff, you should have put the pillar between you and Arishok and just use skill, such as Rain of arrows. The wall would stop him from rushing at you.

OR fight him with you party. It would be easier for you.

I noticed what helps a LOT in this fight is using the grenades to stun him and then attack from far away. Ugh....my mage will be running away a lot too.

I remember fighting him one on one with an archer. I used pinning shot to stun him while I got a way a bit while activating crit attack. Worked like a charm but still basically was the same tactics Toegoff used -_-' At least he remembered to use his dog in the fight, I forgot to use mine.

You know, I really thought that the trip to the deep roads and the discovery of ancient Dwarven Artifacts from a clan of dwarves without paragons would have much more of an impact on this story. That evil mask that the one dwarf took before he locked the party in, sure seemed to be a major plot point and yet, nothing. Did Bioware just forget that whole thing? I thought for sure it would be something akin to Fable3's enemy, an ancient evil unleashed.

@ReplaytheMusic Thanks. Still, that seems a bit of a let down. I mean after DA1 with the whole darkspawn, Arch-Demon, Andraste's Ashes, Anvil of the Void, etc... this game seems very mundane. I was thinking that the mages, pressed by the templars would acquire the mask and in their desperation unleash an ancient evil that threatened to destroy the world - maybe an ancient Tevintor mage, or a magic that would destroy the dark city in the fade thus killing the Maker and destroying the world.

@cerebulon i don't want to spoil anything if you haven't played or finished DA 2, but help anders out especially when he asks for you to distract the grand cleric i won't say anything else but i think if you do that and side with the mages later you'll find something pretty satisfiying i think. I will agree with you that this story is a lot slower and not as gripping as DA O but i find it still a great game never the less
