Don't know where you got your information for this, but it's way wide of the mark. Might be worth mentioning, too, that Copernicus (to whom you wrongly ascribe 'everything Galileo did') was a Catholic priest - rather making a mockery of the claim that Galileo ended the Church's monopoly over science and reason.

Galileo affected western world to so much that Einstein himself changed his equations, because he couldn't stand dynamic model of the universe. He believed universe to be static and until he was proved wrong by other scientists using classical mechanics of Newton.

Vulgar yet educational, I love it. One thing though, Galileo didn't invent the telescope. Hans Lipperhey invented the telescope, but never used it to view the sky. Galileo heard about it and built a better version (without ever seeing one) and used it to view the sky.

Galileo did not invent the telescope, it was invented in the Netherlands. Galileo did however figure out how it worked when he heard about the invention and made his own. Galileo was also the first to use it to observe extra terrestrial objects

Copernicus was never condemned by the Church. In fact the Copernican theory was applauded by Pope Clement VII before Galileo. Galileo was just an ass who was just asking to be imprisoned ... so he was.

Yeah, actually the church did not doubt Galileo base don the bible...but on Galileo's own inability to prove Copericus' theory. The church has this crazy notion that theories that aren't proven by science must not be taught as fact (nutty, right?) and Galileo was instructed not to teach heliocentric theory as a fact because it was not proven.
