@fixitman21 no they control how much steam then need to launch they can launch it so fast that if they do it at full they can yank the front wheel out of the airplane
@djlolypop I should clarify. Yes, the steam pressure is calculated by weight of the aircraft, but a lot of people wonder if it will lose power with a heavier aircraft. Basic physics says the resistance will work against the steam pressure and keep it from decreasing, provided there's no catasrophic parts failure. I would bet that during that first second or so of the launch, the pressure gauge rises.
@gnapalm Yea, and they also cant take off at full combat weight. Unless they start back halfway into the landing deck. On US carriers, landing and takeoff (of fully combat loaded aircraft) can take place simultaneously. And even if the Russian design was "totally" better, they only have one. So there.
F35's have the ability to move the main thruster downward and a rotor in the base of the plane that allows it to hover vertically like a helicopter. They can use that to take off from an aircraft carrier only using a small space. F/A 18s need to use afterburners and catapults to take off from the small end of an aircraft carrier, and blast shields to prevent damage from the amazing power of the 2 jet engines in the back.
@lumixenz wether or not they use the vertical lift function is another matter intierly, it takes a whole lot more force to lift a plane vertically than it does to catapult it and let lift do the work for you. My knowlage of planes is very basic but my knowlage of physics is ok, so i could be wrong.
Yeah, people who like blow jobs are sick. You're a moron and cannot spell (just one of your many traits indicating your lack of intellect, I'm sure). Now beat it bitch.
I would just like to say that I know neither of you but I doubt you know him and presuming that is correct then how can you know 'many' of his traits indicating a lack of intelligence on your part. Also I liked you alliteration at the end, very nice (alliteration is two words in close succession starting with the same sound, just so you know)
Different ships handle different a/c; different missions. You don't send an AV-8 in to do would you need an F-18 to do. An F-18 hitting a "ski jump" with after burners would be a mess.
wtf u r jealous we are the obly country that has 10 active carriers anmd we can afford to maintain them u sir r disrespectful u dont even explain why u insulted us
This traitor (NObama) called the improvement of MISSILE DEFENCE systems, the STAR WAR system and the development of FUTURE COMBAT systems "A WASTEFUL SPENDING" and he vowed to slow them down.
In my opinion this is an act of treason to the USA and its military, in a critical time of the war against TERROR worldwide.
Put this piece shit in front of the fire Squad, not in the White House, before it is too late.
the boys from the land of the brave can only drop bombs from 30000ft
farmers in a poor country are too scary for them

@bigpurple100 In rebuttle, Sir, you're full of shit.
Bombs tend to be dropped from low altitude, where any stray bullet could bring down the aircraft.

The heavier the aircraft, the harder the catapult launches them. The resistance increases the steam pressure.

Why do the guys run to where the planes were standing as soon as they're away? Is there a reason? (0:18 and 0:52)

Uhm, only the B versoin.
The C version is nothing more then a F/A-18 in a diffrent jacket and a diffrent engine.
(C=The carrier version, only the B can move the main truster downward, and A is CTOL.)

jet blast deflectors

Because when the jet starts fire comes out of the large hole. Have you seen Hot Shot the man used that fire to cook the sasuages!

The jet exhaust pushes against it as it takes off to give the plane more thrust and it also protects the deck crews from the hot exhaust trail.

is that a f35?
eaglez4evr 2 years ago
No, these two a certainly Hornets...F-35 has different engine output and different tail
BenRoots65 2 years ago
definetly not!, a F35 wouldnt need a catapult, its single engine and way different than this F/A 18 Hornet

Now, seeing THAT live, it's worth 10 thousand blowjobs

Ok, having and enjoying both is one thing. But that wasn't my argument.
My contention was/is that there are things that are better than flying a plane off a ship, irrespective of whether or not it is possible to do both.

i don't understand why the U.S. navy doesn't use ski jumps like the rest of the world. It's so much cheaper.

Because our jets are faster and require higher take off speed than the verticle landing Harriers.
