  • Why isn't there any new music like this ? Fellow youtubers, if you know of any new artists who sing songs like this, then please let me know ...

  • It would be worth learning French just to understand this song.

  • @wrichik i can translate if u want

  • @straightouttabmt

Thanks for the offer, mate! I read the translated lyrics almost immediately upon hearing this the first time.

I was referring to how nice it must feel to actually understand the words as Francoise pronounces them ...

  • @wrichik I did! I only know a few French words, but I've translated and remembered the meaning of every sentence in this song. The lyrics are actually very beautiful and sad. It's about a girl who sees everyone of her age having a boy/girlfriend, except for her, which makes her feel lonely.

  • All the boys and girls my age

Walk down the street in pairs

All the boys and girls my age

Know well what it means to be happy

Eyes in eyes, and hand in hand

They fall in love without fear of tomorrow

Yes, but I, I walk the streets alone, the lost soul

Yes, but I, I am alone, because nobody loves me

  • When I took high school French class back in the 1970s our teacher made us listen to this. All the girls were swaying to the music excessively, but we high school boy were honor-bound to hate anything about romance and love. It's actually a very sad, pretty song, and I had no idea that Francoise was so pretty too since we didn't have YouTube, the Internet or even personal computers back in those days. Heck, I didn't even have a hand-held calculator! :-D

  • @AdmrlLocke yes those were the days and somehow I like to have experienced it

  • @60evergreen Hi Evergreen! If you're saying that you're too young to have experience the 1970s, then don't feel bad. We had the terrible war in Vietnam, and stagflation across America and Europe. You didn't have to live through those messes, but thanks to YouTube and the Internet you can still sample the few great things we produced, like this video! :-)

  • @wrichik good for you because you go to understand the romantic words

  • @wrichik i don"t know my french perfectly , but i would"nt mind trying to get you on the way . i"m from belgium so it should be my second language.

  • Nostalgie !!!!!!!!!!!! :) ^^

  • It's just sad how the french have lost the golden moments of their 20th century culture. Francoise Hardy,Joe Dassin,Anna de Noailles and many more are a perfect example of what the french culture was.

It's just sad i cant think of any french artist that closes even a bit to what they have accomplished. France,as well as every other european country should be proud of what their artists made and think about the future generation that will replace them.

Oh and that song is amazing!

  • @MrMastera i agree that they contributed a lot more to popular culture than any other european country, but it still doesn't hide the fact that so much that was produced was derivative of the music the english and americans were creating at the time.

  • @robjs89 I don't really agree with that :) It's true, french pop and rock music has always been inspired by american and english music.

But not the so-called "chanson francaise", whose meaningful lyrics don't imitate anyone. Not that a new genre was created : many countries have their own local songs, nothing extraordinary in that...except that they have unique characteristics. Does the song "Non, je ne regrette rien" from Edith Piaf (1961) have ANY american influence ? I don't think so ^^

  • @MaRiAtheHeDg3hOg : if your French teacher tells truth, then you must be a very pretty girl

  • @MaRiAtheHeDg3hOg Indeed. You cannot get prettier than Francoise hardy.

  • My first high school French teacher back in the 70s loved this song.

  • High class elegance.

  • She is amazing. I can't stop lookin at her :-)

  • @dogshy61 Don't hate.

  • @dogshy61 T'as fait un Google Traduction? Je n'ai rien compris à ton message =(

  • How do you say beautiful in French?...Francoise Hardy, that's how!

  • @JORGEPSOUSA911 jolie!

  • she is just so beautiful.

  • Love her face! but why she had to shake her head all the time?

    just curious .. = ="

  • @BlackGuillotine

It's a form of body language. A lot of French people move their arms, head...etc while talking. It might seem exaggerated at first, but most of the time it's completely natural and sometimes serves as a better means of communication than words.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kupolyth Haha I didn't notice ! Because I'm french I guess ;) But yeah, you made me think and actually french people move quite a lot their bodies :P Thought everybody did but apparantly not...

  • @Kupolyth It's because they have a mediterranean culture. And do the english, americans, indians, chinese move less their bodies while talking ?

  • elle est tres jolie
