So, what are the benefits of drawing with a Wacom Intuos over a Wacom Bamboo? I have the latter, and if I’m going to be as polite as possible but still being truthful, it’s shit.
@raindropsneverfall Aside from size usually, the biggest difference is that the Bamboo is much less sensitive to pressure. So it's very difficult to control the opacity with it, and you will have to manually change opacity a lot more often to create equal results.
I have a Bamboo, and at first I thought it was impossible to use it for accurate painting compared to an Intuos. Now I realise that it just takes practice, but the Intuos is still faster and a lot more fun to paint with.
sycra I was wondering how do you compress your videos to a small file size. I did a 10 hour long painting (up on my page incase you wish to see) the original videos totalled to around 3 gig i think and then getting it down to under 20mb was a battle, been quite a while since I've done any drawings so can't remember now but I wonder if you know a easy way. nice to have you back btw :)
@Sycra I believe That was something I tried already using quicktime pro, (camtasia only exports in avi or its own) and I encountered issues of sorts. I will try again for the future. I think my main issue was to render it down to a nice size it would take forever. I actually remember me going to bed with my computer on to render overnight. That's not natural is it?
in case you're a techy I have a dual processor with 2 gig ram.
Oh, and I know that you weren't able to make a tutorial, but this might be a good idea if you want to give some information at the end without subbing or dubbing your video. Perhaps you could, at the end of your painting session, uncheck all layers (making them all invisible) and then, one by one, making each layer visible in succession, on top of one another. That way, we'd know what was on each layer and how many layers you used. But I still learned a lot!
When you shifted to color, did you use an Overlay/ Multiply layer(s)? Or did you make another layer on top and simply paint in a low opacity over the black and white?
@zepher234 I didn't create a new layer, I just painted on the same layer. I didn't paint at low opacity, I have opacity at 100% but set to pen pressure, so I just lightened the pressure on tablet pen.
@Sycra to be honest, i picked up a few good hints there, and i like the way you just use the one layer, its more like real painting in that if you make a mistake its a challenge to re-work it. too many people take the safe option by multi layering. i personally dont get on with my graphics tablet, for some reason im better using a wifi mouse.. great work, it was a pleasure to watch.
every time you start out your drawings/paintings you start out with nothing more then a bunch of scribbles, then my jaw hits the floor when you end it with such awesomeness like this!! thank you for sharing with us!
@92howes Well... I read books like "Alla Prima" by Richard Schmid, and 'Color and Light' by James Gurney... But for this one, I'm just winging it. I think it suits me more to just be experimental with colour now...
Maybe it's a bit 'off', but I'd say it's more stylized.
It's definitely not awful, and I think it's rude to say so. Art is different to different people, and I would honestly kill for a scrap of the talent that Sycra has.
So unless you've got some constructive criticism to say, then keep your mouth shut. Kthnxbai.
What brush do you use to paint this sketchs? Amazing sketches!

@LokkoForm i agree, the faces are very odd looking. the woman's jaw should be more inward at an angle. the whole lower third of the face is off.
