  • He was funnier without all the cussing...

  • @TheMabes69 Agreed!

  • maclean Steveson, always on the tonight show couch...with all those failed sit-coms , i guess he slept there after the show was over..

  • for those of you who wish he would get back to stand up, he is! :D he said it on a interview with ellen.

  • Chris Rock did a good impersonation of that President skit...

  • he used the modeling joke in delirious

  • Hahaha I have never laughed so much! Thank you Eddie for making me laugh so much today. xD

  • Damn, Eddie Murphy had so much style back then.

  • What is the name of that song the band is playing at the end??

  • I remember watching this back in the day ... was funny then and is still really funny ... maybe more so ... unfortunately the sillies have taken over the media and you won't see or hear this stuff on TV ... can you just imagine anyone saying homosexual on TV and then cracking a joke ... too bad ...

  • Eddie Murphy didn't become the first black president :/

  • Eddie did more for bettering race relations than any modern day political correctness.

  • Wow! I can't believe this was more than thirty years ago. Funny thing is, now we have a black president.

  • @martinbondesson Yeah took 30 years and it finally happened.

  • i love his laugh!!! so cute

  • Young Eddie was vicious....

  • Que olla!!!

  • TOO MANY GODDAMN ADS!!

  • In 1982, It was Bill Cosby and O.J., very clean, no prostitute named Trix. Well Richard Pryor, but he was treated like a village idiot. Eddie was Yea I said that and you can stop looking at me like there's something wrong with me or waiting for me to become Bill Cosby. I got to say Eddie was the first to mainstream the Black Ghetto identity as We are this no matter if we move to the suburbs or are surrounded by White people. Now White suburbs sound like this.

  • Love Murphy but he lifted the black president joke from Pryer. Murphy was young and fearless.

  • I had an '86 Oldsmobile and I would leave the headlights on on purpose.

    xD

  • That Buckwheat joke...so awesome.

  • Eddie Smurf.

  • all the greatest started with Mr Carson

  • 280zx??

  • Cars spoke? In 1982?!

  • Look at the swagger when he walks out....also when he shakes Carson and Ed's hand at the same time!

  • This clip is STILL FUNNY!

  • 1982 and talking about the first black president, I'd love to see him do a remake of this skit.

  • he got one big. ass. head.

  • he got one big. ass. head.

  • funny

  • Odd that Eddie seems to know that the actors who portrayed Buckwheat and Farina were named after black folks shown years before on cereal boxes, yet seems confused that those names are not part of the average black family tree. Kinda ruined the whole first part of his bit.

  • @themredweirdoshow because thay are not part of the black family tree u hillbilly.

  • @themredweirdoshow Buckwheat and Farina aren't named after characters. they are named after crops in fields that were used in early cereal.

  • shut up!

  • i was born 3 days after this show..i am 30 and and still laughing to king E.Murphy.

  • wow 2012 generation sucks

  • The first Black President Obama decided to get Osama Bin Laden. I think they win. :)

  • 2012 now

  • 30 years ago, and physically he hasn't changed much at all. Just an incredible talent. A national treasure.

  • ediie has a bit of a weird laugh doesn't he LOL!

  • listening to comedian right now and it is so fuckin racy its amazing. Such great delivery

  • I wish it was 1982 again. We could start over...

  • Eddie da man!

  • 30 years ago tonight. Strange.

  • Comment removed

  • 4:19-4:58 LMAOOO!! Hilarious as hell! xD

  • Regardless of the more dubious career choices he has made since then, this is a masterful first appearance

  • 0:55 He Looks Like That Everybody Hates Chris Kid

  • Love eddie !

  • Anyone feel that breeze? That breeze is from the door Richard Prior left open for Eddie.

  • I thought Eddie Murphie was a dorky and lame comedian until I saw his old standup stuff, which is soo good.

  • @Osukastairu Well if you only knew him from the goofy family films he's done the past decade or so, ofcourse that's what you'd think. In the 80s and even the first half of the 90s, he was razor sharp as a comedian.

  • @gothatway09 Yeah the family films are unbelievably bad compared to this!

  • Eddies the Best!

  • Funny stuff, probably was funnier, before everyone started using racial jokes.

  • What happened to that laugh he used to have?

  • Eddie Murphy hit a home run with this monologue! Everything he said was hilarious!

  • I wish he would have said "And there are my 3 cousins Snap, Crackle and Pop".

  • he's so good in this!

  • Its 2011 and Eddie Murphy still looks the same, he hasn't aged at all.

  • I REALLY wish Eddie would come back to standup!..

  • @muzikman183 Does anybody know why he doesn't? I'd say he's best at stand up out of everything he's good at!

  • @muzikman183 Robin Williams did a stand up show not to long ago. I agree Eddie should too !!

  • At the end of this clip, that lucky son of a bitch Eddie Murphy got to meet THE Mclean Stevenson, actor and brother of a former vice presidential candidate--and I didn't.

  • Thanks Eddie. After watching the Jay Leno clip, I needed that to get the shit taste out of my mouth.

  • @rustytrombone1027 LOL! Ditto!

  • @rustytrombone1027 yep Jay leno is super lame

  • @rustytrombone1027 GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

  • @rustytrombone1027 You guys like me, you really like me.....

  • @rustytrombone1027 God yes! Jay leno is not funny!

  • Eddie is so awesome. i like this guy such a lot

  • Lmfao Special K

  • He looks EXATLY the same!!!!

  • How prolific of him to joke about a black president..lol He has paved the way and comedy has never been the same..nobody as good as this man Eddie..A true Original

  • Damn, i was born in '82.

  • Eddie laugh - Epic! <3

  • woo! shut up. haha

  • Looks like a goddam kid... xD

  • The greatest comedian of all-time!

Our band is named after a Eddie Murphy "SNL" skit.

It's so cool to see Eddie perform a few skits from his first brilliant comedy album, "Eddie Murphy"....the greatest comedy album of all-time!

Thank you for posting this on YouTube!

    Hope all is well.

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • @THECLARENCES fantastic name!!! do you guys all use afro-sheen?

  • @j2times2006 Yes, we do! Kudos to you for referencing the Eddie/The Clarences skit. Paul still wears afro sheen too.

  • DONKEY!!

  • Carson made EVERYONE a star, what a G

  • @nickmordo Carson did NOT make Eddie a star. Saturday Night Live did.

  • 29 years ago... damn...

  • "Special K".... hahahaha! Soooo great! :)

  • It's a modern-day minstrel show. Unbelievable.

  • His head was way too large for that body.

  • I have a buddy called Buckwheat, no one knows his real name he's just Buckwheat lol

  • This was back when Eddie was funny.

  • Its puts it all in perspective when you see how far-fetched it was to have an african-american president in those days. Times have changed tremendously.

  • @BlueJay88 It was still somewhat far fetched to have an African-American president in 2002, not just 1982. You remember how people reacted with amazement in 2008 when Obama was elected, it was a big deal. Future generations will look back on even the 2000s and look with wonder at us that we made such a big deal about the first African-American or non-white president.

  • Oh, he was saying bulge, not balls? Finally caught that!

  • THE NOW LEGEND EDDIE MURPHY, MAN HOW TIME FLYS, AND YES A BLACK PRESIDENT AMONG OTHER THINGS.

  • He was only 20!

  • One of the most unique laughs ever!

  • Still just as funny today

  • Hey, that ain't funny. LOL

  • GENIUS BRILLIANT, Love Eddie !!!

  • What did he say @ 4:00 ?

  • @MsRaichuD 'Scuse me Man, Um... You crowdin' the President."

  • @breezy501 Thanks dude.

  • 0:27 Shut Up!!

6:22 That guy in the middle is Mick Stevenson (aka: M*A*S*H's Henry Blake).

  • @bachelordan0470 McLean Stevenson? Never heard anyone call him Mick.

  • @Y2Jin99

Most call him McLean. Others call him Mick. I always call him Mick. He died in 1996 in Culver City California.

  • i aint got no last name buckwheat im serious! lmao

  • Eddie: That's my little sister over there her name is Shredded Wheat. lol

  • barack obama

  • Palestine trees bear a strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Palestine bodies swinging in the breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the olive trees. Pastoral scene of the palestine land, The bulging eyes and a cramped hand , Scent of olives, oily and fresh, Then the sudden smell of burning flesh. Here is fruit for the crows to pluck, For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop, Here is a strange and bitter crop.
  • I wonder if, at that time, Eddie ever thought he would one day be a big time famous actor.

  • I wish they had a collection of all of his tonight show episodes

  • 4:40 thats in delirious too!

  • @MrTatsubei it's called a "bit" he has bits like all comedians do he just used what he knew would get laughs and was safe for network T.V. (dont piss off the network when you are starting out)

  • that was the cleanest eddie murphy standup ever

  • eddie murphy cudda made up these jokes 5 mins before he went on and they still wudda came out hilarious. funnyfunnyfunnyfunny7 people got they fuckin heads up they ass.

  • Some material he would use in delirious in 83

  • Obama watched it from @ 4:15

  • This man right here is the reason i started loving action comedy movies LOL

  • Jay Leno would never have a Black man making up fun the gays these days. 3:20

He gave in to GLADD's harrasments... They're so stupid they're probably gonna boycott Johnny Carson!

  • @ohgee1 No Jay Leno had many blackmen say worse things on his show,so whats the point you making,he aint gonna kick a blackmans ass for saying it either, ya ass!!!

  • shut up!...hah man knows whats funny!

  • thank you.... shut up... HAHAHAHHA

  • lol he always looks the same xD 1982 - 2011 :<

  • I'm watching this in 2011 and we now have a black president :)

  • He was real young here. 1982 was Murphy's debut in his first movie 48 Hrs. co-starring with Nick Nolte. He kind of remind me of a young Sherman Hemsley here. When The Jeffersons came out in 1975. Sherman Hemsley voice sounded much younger then. But then. It got more older. It's like Eddie Murphy took his place. My point is. Eddie Murphy's voice was more younger and deeper here. Until in 1984 it got more light in Beverly Hills Cops.

  • It's strange seeing Eddie Murphy perform stand-up in a normal suit for once!

  • his timing and delivery is perfect!

  • see eddie murphy can be clean and funny

  • the next host for the Oscars.

  • It was risky in 2011 to Eddie! :/

  • I didn't know lucky charms were that old : O

  • I love Eddie Murphy as a comedian, not as an actor in children's movies that aren't that great or funny.

  • Did he undergo a 'Shoulder-Plastic Surgery', I swear his shoulder is too short in this video :D

  • the birth of the "Bulge" in underwear modeling xD

  • Love old Eddie Murphy. So confident

  • Gotta love that grin

  • he used that black president joke on his delirous show hahha

  • Obama doesn't have to give his speeches like that :)

Great time capsule, and beautiful quality! Johnny Carson, by far the best Tonight Show host! Thnx 4 this!

  • The good old dayz of comedy ..I love old Eddie Murphy comedy......

  • Eddie is my fav stand up comedian of all time!

  • He is one of comedic heroes! Much respect Eddie! Thanks for uploading.
