I remember watching this back in the day ... was funny then and is still really funny ... maybe more so ... unfortunately the sillies have taken over the media and you won't see or hear this stuff on TV ... can you just imagine anyone saying homosexual on TV and then cracking a joke ... too bad ...
In 1982, It was Bill Cosby and O.J., very clean, no prostitute named Trix. Well Richard Pryor, but he was treated like a village idiot. Eddie was Yea I said that and you can stop looking at me like there's something wrong with me or waiting for me to become Bill Cosby. I got to say Eddie was the first to mainstream the Black Ghetto identity as We are this no matter if we move to the suburbs or are surrounded by White people. Now White suburbs sound like this.
Odd that Eddie seems to know that the actors who portrayed Buckwheat and Farina were named after black folks shown years before on cereal boxes, yet seems confused that those names are not part of the average black family tree. Kinda ruined the whole first part of his bit.
@Osukastairu Well if you only knew him from the goofy family films he's done the past decade or so, ofcourse that's what you'd think. In the 80s and even the first half of the 90s, he was razor sharp as a comedian.
At the end of this clip, that lucky son of a bitch Eddie Murphy got to meet THE Mclean Stevenson, actor and brother of a former vice presidential candidate--and I didn't.
How prolific of him to joke about a black president..lol He has paved the way and comedy has never been the same..nobody as good as this man Eddie..A true Original
Its puts it all in perspective when you see how far-fetched it was to have an african-american president in those days. Times have changed tremendously.
@BlueJay88 It was still somewhat far fetched to have an African-American president in 2002, not just 1982. You remember how people reacted with amazement in 2008 when Obama was elected, it was a big deal. Future generations will look back on even the 2000s and look with wonder at us that we made such a big deal about the first African-American or non-white president.
Palestine trees bear a strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Palestine bodies swinging in the breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the olive trees. Pastoral scene of the palestine land, The bulging eyes and a cramped hand , Scent of olives, oily and fresh, Then the sudden smell of burning flesh. Here is fruit for the crows to pluck, For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop, Here is a strange and bitter crop.
@MrTatsubei it's called a "bit" he has bits like all comedians do he just used what he knew would get laughs and was safe for network T.V. (dont piss off the network when you are starting out)
@MrTatsubei it's called a "bit" he has bits like all comedians do he just used what he knew would get laughs and was safe for network T.V. (dont piss off the network when you are starting out) like Dice Clay did

@ohgee1 No Jay Leno had many blackmen say worse things on his show,so whats the point you making,he aint gonna kick a blackmans ass for saying it either, ya ass!!!
He was real young here. 1982 was Murphy's debut in his first movie 48 Hrs. co-starring with Nick Nolte. He kind of remind me of a young Sherman Hemsley here. When The Jeffersons came out in 1975. Sherman Hemsley voice sounded much younger then. But then. It got more older. It's like Eddie Murphy took his place. My point is. Eddie Murphy's voice was more younger and deeper here. Until in 1984 it got more light in Beverly Hills Cops.
He was funnier without all the cussing...
