  • well done!

  • People at Cannes are uneducated dicks! They have absolutely no respect... passing out and walking out on the coolest scenes.

  • there is not holocaust , sorry

  • "The Best"

  • I'm shocked. How can ANYONE take his comment seriously? It was SARCASTIC and meant to provoke, he is a provocateur, every year he says something like this to shock the political correct hipocrites that Cannes is full of. Stop analyzing what is not meant to be analized! He is ofcourse not a Nazi. By the way, if you are a human being, if you have empathy, though you don't agree, you will ALWAYS have SOME kind of understanding og sympathy for the bad guys, it's part of being a human being .

  • If he admires Hitler so maybe he thinks Shlhanok women and children in gas chambers is a good thing? Or to women and babies on the edge of a pit and shot with machine guns is heroism?

  • If he admires Hitler so maybe he thinks Shlhanok women and children in gas chambers is a good thing? Or to women and babies on the edge of a pit and shot with machine guns is heroism?

  • @AS525252 Oh get over yourself.

  • @AS525252 you are a retard

  • @AS525252 But what the fuck makes you think that he admires hitler, you knwo what irony is? do you know how von trier thinks? see europa and then tell me that he admires hitler,...

  • The Pope is the anti-Christ He came out of the divided roman empire after its collapse He called himself JESUS'S equal He killed the saints in the inqustion He changed the sabbath day from saturday to sunday HE sat in the christian church calling himself God He lost his power in 1798 but he is making a come back and creathing a new world order Just as JESUS SAID the anti christ would do at the end of time The pope controls the Jesuits Freemasons and llumanati

  • Hey, HEY, you, YES YOU WHO BOOED, go fuck yo mama!

  • Lars Von Trier is very talented.. he knows how to make a beautiful picture... I love that.. but it's true... he's depressed, you can tell that because of the way he talks and he really needs help... I think his potential is not shown completely... and obviously the people that are as damaged as he is will accept all of his products :/

  • The film is product of his mental illness, I m sorry for that, he s a great artist, I hope he ll get better.

  • @majawow But its great, if you use the postmodern theory, the schizophrenic is part of the art, and lars is a great director. And Antichrist is a huge movie because is a critic against the ideology anti-woman of the Christianity.

  • @Vladesplit koliko se razumem u postmodernu, makar u knjizevnosti, nigde to ne stoji. a sve i da je tako, utoliko gore i potresnije po to teoriju.

  • @majawow Non posso capire quelo che tu dici. No puedo entender lo que quieres decir. I cant understand you are writting.

  • It's an amazing film. Yes, it's disturbing, violent, graphic but that's because it needs to be that way in order to make the audience feel what the characters feel. All the criticism about it being misogynistic comes from people who didn't take the time to analize it in depth and just "read" it literally.

  • the first thing u see in this movie is von triers name in big letters on the screen. thats the first clue to what this film will have revealed at the end: that trier in love with him self and wants everyone to know what a extraordenary person he is.. films made by narcissists bore me to death

  • @NEUHEITEN100 this appens when you take a book too...

  • I AM THE ANTICHRIST!

  • Think of this movies as a sniper rifle; it hits very few people but hard! Think as Hollywood movies as shotguns hitting lots of people but weak. Douchebags stay out, if this film did not hit you, then shut up.

  • Watch Ma Mere if you really want to be horrified, or read that debased authors book it's script is taken from

  • Genius. God he's so damn brilliant

  • it was O.K.

  • I had to pet my penis and tell it everything was ok after seeing this film.

Gorgeous movie. Dialogue is Bergmannesque, and visually it is a synthesis of Lynch and Svankmajer with LVT's own original genius forging new ground.

  • Yes, by the grace of God!

  • This movie affected me for a few days after viewing it ... i think was tripping out.

It also left me wanting to know more about the ending.

  • Makes other horror films look weak and childish. This movie transcends what I know horror to be. If you want to be truly "horrified", look no further.

  • What is the plot of ANTICHRIST ?? I heard there are hot sex scenes in that movie

  • dude, i was mentally mind fucked for days becaus eof that movie, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt watch it!

  • What is the plot of ANTICHRIST ?

  • googling helps actually, didnt you know

  • these two actors (who weirdly dont have a name in the film)

had a child that died. The woman went to a specialist because she was psychologically traumatised, but then, the man ,who was also smth like a psychologist decided to do her treatment..

there's more to it..but this is the general idea..

    its pretty ....real..

you should see it if you can handle it(just finished watching in myself..)

it has sex scenes and violent scenes, you may wince but it will not be a waste of your time..

  • Yeah sex scenes are hot ,I hope that slut got fucked doggy style in the movie

  • she didnt:p

go see it, i think you'll like..

(but then again if you're only interested in the sex scenes you could always look at porn...)

  • Von Trier is GREAT. Childish yes, but he pinpoint on the harshness of life in a superior way. I think the harsh emotions in his films reflect upon his own poor mental condition. In each movie he makes he renews himself, and get out the grittyness that you don't see that much of in modern film. To me that's a good thing, and he is truly one of the best filmmakers I can think of.

  • FANTASTIC MOVIE

so weird to feel so happy and disturbed at the same time... the movie itself is just so horrifyingly beautiful

    HE IS A GENIUS

  • this film has more intensity than 5 Avatars in 3D.

  • @henrix999 This Picture has more intensity and deepness, than 7 Avatars in 4D and thousand others of Hollywoodmovies.

    It's so deep and fascinating.

It changed my mind, like each other Lars von Trier Film.

  • @henrix999 amen for that words.

  • @henrix999 yes, but an intensity of shit

  • @henrix999 What a weird way to make a statement. I fell asleep and slept the last hour and a half of Avatar. I woke up in the midst of a some scenes, with my 3D glasses still on - but quickly fell back into peaceful sleep in the middle of the cinema.

  • people have completely bashed the movie but the images are just so beautiful. im glad to see that there are people here that agree.

  • great!!! I can watch a slide show with beautiful images.

  • WTF booed?? Classless

  • Close-up ejaculation of blood, now that is real class

  • i dont get why everyone is criticising it so much..

there are plenty of movies with senseless violence...yes some of those scenes couldve been avoided but its a horror film..you wouldnt really expect them holding hands skipping through the forest happily while smiling at one another eating candy..

that would've been a Disney film..

saw has senseless violence as well f.e.

    but does anyone care?:P

  • @nikkiwhite40 doesn't mean anything, Indiana Jones 4 got a standing ovation in Cannes. Shows what they know.

  • Existerm aquels que tem acesso a personalidades do cinema mundila enempor isto vão ao quarto 666. Continue assim e mais, sem letreiros de game 3D de tiro em primeira pessoa... Carlosmagno

  • alejandro jodorowsky, david lynch, dusan makavejev, lars von trier, guy maddin, takashi miike and peter greenaway are the true gods of cinema!

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful film. it's the most impressive cinematography i've seen in any of hi movies. He dedicated it to Tarkovsky, and the mise-en-scene is reminiscent of Mirror and Solaris.

  • The epilogue scene was so beautiful, perfect and equally disturbing. From that you knew you were in for a ride if you were going to stay w/ this film.

  • From the looks of it, Charlote and Lars didn't really get along. Maybe I'm wrong?

  • since when does Lars get along with his female leads?

  • Have you written that stupid comment in every video?

  • Yes, by the grace of God!

  • The acting was amazing in this film, they both deserve oscars!

  • what a fucking asshole! nothing but a pervert. but genius.

  • nice little poem from an internet tool.

  • HAHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NICE!

  • I know, it's so lame. LOL What a loser.

  • i dont remember writing this.... either i was realy drunk or it wasnt me!

  • you-tube raped xD

  • It's a masterpiece. Hard to watch, hard to forget.

Lars von Trier officially joins the ranks of the true movie artists....(a small group and most of them have passed away.)

  • truely a shaking movie... i am trying to forget it... it affected me in a bad way... i will get over it soon...

  • Well... At least this one is a thousand times better than dogmatized Les Idiotes.

  • genius movie with a totally different atmosphere to everything else.

  • I am sorry but, as a long-time fan of LVT cinema, I did not like his last work. No one question the fine acting of the two characters, but the movie in itself is full of a lot of good ideas, but all underdeveloped. The 'magic animals' are senseless, as well as the final 'in memory of Tarkovskij' (oh, please!!!). Neither I found it 'shocking' or 'distubing', but only exagerated. Sometimes even boring...

  • @vins1979

I had the same thoughts after watching this movie. + the beauty of a symbolic movie lies in the fact that it intrigues you to think over its symbolisms, trying to give them your own explanation. In my opinion, Antichrist doesn't achieve this.

  • I can't agree because it made me think of the symbolism for weeks. To each their own.

  • @ptl1143 the film really stuck to me too! I've been thinking about the symbolism and certain shots for about 2 weeks now!

Really great film, has so much depth to it.

  • Perfect! Lars Von Trier is fantastic!

  • Freedom expression also means I have the right to avoid seeing crap. No one can force me to watch it. Perhaps LVT should get an enema. There's nothing like indigestion and slow bowels to induce a morbid state of mind.

  • Good movie, but I did not need to see the scene in the shed towards the end. I think no man ever should have to see that ! otherwise a beutiful twisted movie.

  • amazing!!! masterpiece, it´s totally a new level, new ideas, this it cinema needs

  • agree is the best movie this year

  • Masterpiece. It takes cinema to new level.

  • 'Antichrist' is indeed symbolic, as Lars von Trier has insisted.

It seems to me that the film is an exercise on Nietzsche's essay " 'Guilt', 'Bad Conscience' and the like", from his book 'On the Genealogy of Morals'.

It is clearly Lars von Trier's artistic interpretation of Nietzsche's text.

If you haven't read it or haven't understood the film either, I'd advice you to read the book. It will answer most, if not all, of your questions about the film.

  • Thank you for the information.

  • I haven't seen Antichrist yet but von Trier is a genious. Those of you who haven't seen his previous work is recommended to do so. (especially Europa, Dogville and Element of Crime)

You don't come by excellence often and especially not in our modern world with all it's hype and flim flam.

I rate von Trier up there with Carl Th. Dreier, Hitchcock, Eisenstein and Stone in terms of innovation and brilliance

Look beyond his slightly 'geekish' behaviour. Greats are often like that

    Cheers

  • When you say Stone, do you mean OLIVER Stone?

  • Sorry, yes, I think some of Oliver Stones films are master pieces (born on 4th of July, Salvador and JFK to name a few)

  • Hey, dude...

WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING 'BOUT?

    SORRY?

You should say sorry for not including Natural Born Killers on the masterpieces of Oliver. He's another one at the top, with Kubrick, Tarantino, Hitchcock, Lynch, Edwards...

HEHEHE, I saw your face. I saw you were afraid with that caps...

  • Sorry for not writing Oliver (just Stone - took it for granted people would think it is Oliver Stone) There are so many super films from OS and yes you are right Kubrick is another one up there. Tarantino and Lynch: They are good, but not quite my taste

    Edwards: is that Blake Edwards?

  • Sorry, yes. He made some of the greatest comedies EVER.

  • Totally agree, he is a master. Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards is a powerful team yet to be surpassed.

  • go and see it mate, it's awsome. Kinda ruthless, though.

  • I will, unfortunately don't think it is in New Zealand yet! Not exactly a main stream film :-) Wonder if it is on the internet somewhere.

  • advice for trier is, he's a great film-maker (a depressive film maker) who has a flair to potentially create great films like tarkovsky, antichrist is his best film I think, and manderlay and breaking waves are good as well. basically, what he says officially - e.g. at press conferences - is not to be taken seriously i,e, the dogme principles, "I'm the greatest director around", etc I hope he keeps this vein of tarkovsky influenced films going.

  • I am not sure I follow you!

The dogme principle is about minimalism not being the greatest and LvT doesn't say that at all. In case you haven't read his resume, do so, and you would be very impressed. The guy is truly a genious but also slightly weird (like Mozart, Beethoven and so on and so forth.

    Cheers

  • It's really rather dissapointing seeing that this is the director of a film that seems well amazingly thought out and one of the most unsettling and brilliantly inventive films i've seen in a long time.

  • @mapothercruise So all the e-dates you kinda want to work out, does NOT work out, because everyone gets rather dissapointing seeing a picture of you.... awww.

  • Anyone have a clue if this has been cam:ed or otherwise ripped yet? I've searched like hell with no results. Would gladly pay to see it, but It's been pulled from my theaters.

  • Wannabe experimental? That doesn't really make sense. I haven't seen any of his movies but it sounds like he's the definition of experimental filmmaking. You can't really be a wannabe experimental filmmaker. You can suck at it which I'm guessing is what you're saying.

  • Wannabe??? Hahaha...just because its not a typical mainstream Hollywood production and it actually makes you think and feel strong emotions doesnt make it a 'stupid wannabe' movie....And why would he have to kill himself or you just want to get some attention with your comment. Certainly you are not very original!!! P.S-HOw many of his movies have you seen?

  • Haven't been disappointed by anything he's done so far and I've seen all his feature films.

    Saw ANTICHRIST 2 days ago.

  • so what? who tha fuck are you? why should I bother with your routine? say something meaningfull or shut the fuck up!.

    ops.

    sorry bout that.

  • Say something meaningfull yourself.

I at least stuck to the subject of the clip.

  • lars rocks

  • Hes married.

  • LMAO!! Have a lot of fun bro

  • He's a genius. He makes very disturbing movies and your reaction i the the proof of that. And sure he's got some problems with women but he wrote it when he had a depression and just take the movie for what it is. And you cant be upset for the fact that a woman is the source of evil in movie. I mean thats just how it was. Otherwise it would have been the husband and that wouldnt have made it less freaky...

  • True.. men are usually the source of evil in movies, just because it's the other way around in antichrist it doesn't mean that von Trier a mysoginist.

  • With INLAND EMPIRE (David Lynch people!!!!), this movie has been one of the deepest emotional trips i've ever experienced. That's ART folks!!! U come out of the cinema changed in someway; i've felt some sort of connection with the soul of Lars. And if u go often at the cinema u know that this is not easy to find with 90% of works.

  • Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 100% true (wo)man!

  • backto 1960 sound like a backwardthinkingrightwingerhillbilly

  • i think that in this movie man comes out worse then women... he is a "cinyc" professionist in some scenes and sometimes he seems so distant ... he could not understand human(women) nature. I think Lars loves women, and u see it in almost all his films (Bjork rules!).

  • it is not for everybody, but the movie was amazing.. The visual side is on of the best i have seen in a while, and the whole film really made me think

  • I have watched the movie, and while it is not for everybody, i personally love it..

You don't have a good feeling when you walk out of the theater but it was an amazing experience that invoked alot of emotion in me

  • Minha alma-gemea.pena que nunca nos encontramos ..sniiiiffff!

Lars von Trier is my soulmate, its a complete shame we have never met.... sniif!

  • Well...... I can only hope Lars's wife is worthy to be the one by his side.... I had dreamed it should have been me! ;-(

Lars von Trier is undoubly one of the best film director and in my opinion THE GUY! Well done and congratulations for your amazing and creative contribution to the art-movies worldwide!

  • Von Trier said he got into Strindberg while writing it. Maybe it's kind of an update of the play Miss Julie? I look forward to seeing it. He seemed a bit down here, hope he gets over his depression or whatever.

  • Went to see it tonight, and there are definitely rough spots in the film. However, in the end it's imagery is etched into my brain and it IS uncompromising like few other movies in the world. And not because it is ugly but because of the vast beauty in ugliness when Trier is directing. This film will stand. It will be a favourite topic at media science at the university. And years from now, it will be a classic.

  • And if so?

  • for the american friends, i don't see this film getting an american release. As I saw it, it would be a double NC-17 with ice. Not very market friendly, but one more reason to appreciate the film as a film.

  • I read somewhere that it was getting picked up in the US by IFC Films and that they were going to release it without editing.

  • yes, it seems IFC will release it. The producer told me they would listen to distributors about content, but that so far they had no problems with the material shown. Still...

  • I heard the same - but be aware that it will be in a censured version.

  • As I have been told both the censured and the original version has been sold to the US. Either way it's not that great of a loss to see the edited version.

It is max 2 minutes we are talking about, and they are not that important to the movie.

  • Lars von Triers is very good

  • wtf LOL

  • Are u a little and repressed christian? come on man WAKE UP!

  • valeu amigo! Belo trabalho.

  • obrigado pelo vídeo. sou algo próximo de fã de Von Trier

  • Thanks you for this. This is probably the most i've ever been hyped to see a movie! Get a US release date already!

  • people boo? rude beyond belief!

the man made a movie, that's all...

  • in Europe a movie is not just a movie

  • eu gostaria de pedir se possivel colocar aparete que lars discute com o jornalista britanico parece que o negocio foi feio e ele disse que era o melhor do mundo se voces puderem postar eu gostaria muito

  • agradeço tambem o cuidado por ter legendado
