City construction started on new Manotick sewers just before the OMB ruling. The Ottawa sewers have been in the news a lot recently. It appears that current infrastructure cannot support the homes currently on the system. On a very frequent basis sewage and chemical spills occur into the Ottawa River. The OMB is allowing 1,800 homes to be added onto to a broken system.
The Green Home, is built 32 kilometres from the parliament buildings down town. In this rural community a car is required for every outing new residents will commute to down town jobs. There are no plans for additional retail or supportive facilities
9 street lights and two flood lights that light up the one Green Home; all night long. Main street and Bridge street are at capacity now and cannot be widened to support the additional homes.
The majority of the Manotick residents opposed this Minto development.
The Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee voted against this Minto Development
The Ottawa City Council voted against this Minto Development.
The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) is allowing 1,800 new homes to be built on the farm land and forest. As per most peoples understanding of a secondary plan only 200 homes, were to be built on this land.
