If you look at the fundamental cycle you will discover the thermal shielding upstream causes the combustor to grow significantly. The combustor has to grow so more heat can be added without thermally choking the flow. See AIAA 2001-3748. The combustor is too big for the inlet in the AJAX cycle.

It's not the sound barrier. I was at Edwards for a few years and saw these regularly. We were in the tower for maintenance one morning, one of the "tower flowers" called that the B-2 was comming in and we may have to leave the tower. Now we all would see these flying on a daily basis, the NCOIC said it was ok, and they were all like "watch this!" the B-2 came by low altitude, low speed, almost silent, with an F-16 chase plane and all you could see were the wings, even less than in the video.

Let me help you guys out. Hi, I'm a former B-2 pilot. The Stealth is not going supersonic. This phenomenon occurs at high subsonic speeds at low altitude. I have a similar shot of an F-18 on my channel (yes the F-18 is supersonic, but the one in my video was going about .95 mach). Also, the B-2 uses normal jet engines, similar to the one found on an F-16. If you want to know more about the B-2 and stealth ops, google James R. Hannibal. the B2 spirit can't brake the sound barrier at 36600 ft where the air is thiner but colder about -61F thus making the engines work at its best capabilities the top speed of the B2 is 560mph the speed of a jetliner, this happens cause humidity is high at lower altitudes. F1 cars can also cause this condensation at about 200 mph. So Don't post about what you dont know, B2s is Slow an depend on stealth, but thats no longer an edge tornados and su-30MKs can pick up their signal and bring it down

Yeah ive seen this happen on a b1 bomber, nothin but condensation due to breaking the sound barrier, a cloud will actually completely hide the plane in a cloud if the conditions are right
