i could play this on the tuba with my mouth while playing carnival of venice out my ass on a french horn while singing Ave Maria through my nose when I was in 4th grade
omg.. i pretend to this like everyday in jazz band and regular band at my high school. haha there always like.. Taylor.. Baritones can't do that. and this.. is.. AMAZING! thanks for the vid guys :)
I disagree. Just the other day, I was assaulted by three ninjas... If I hadn't had my euphonium to ward them off, they would likely have succeeded in their plan to tickle me to death!
Carnival of Venus is by Adam Vizzuti(sp?) It's his personal version created to basically show off, he finds Carnival of Venice too easy, he plays some of the Variations with his horn upside down.
I dont think that is a 3/4 size tuba. It just is wrapped more tightly then yours. I think that all full size tubas have a length of approximately 18 feet, but that 18 feet might be more coiled, sort of like a regular trumpet vs. a pocket trumpet.
Full size Tuba's are much easier to hit lower notes with than a 3/4ths. With a full size there is the 4th valve which makes going lower so much easier.

im in 8th grade and can play evry octive of bflat i also played beautiful colarado for solo/ensamble and i got a one on it... i have a YEP-842S WHEEEE (love euphonium)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yeah dude thats not amazing i could do that in 7th grade. what really matters is if you have a good tone. and you probably cant go that high. its probably low register.
The tuba puffed his cheeks alot tho sounded nice and yea didnt like the squill at the end never seen this music in my hand but i pretty sure its not suposed to be there if im wrong sry :P whats the note tho my highest note is the super high D on Trombone (9th Grade)
Lucky you. I can get to the A or maybe B above middle C on the trombone (bass clef). On the euphonium (I play treble clef), I know I can get to two A's above middle C, but there's a note above that I can play...except it has terrible tone and I have no clue what it actually IS. Transposing for bass clef euphonium, I play the G above middle C.
...This is the piece the Carol Jantsch played at a summer camp audition which led to an audition with the Philadelphia Orchestra! And she got the seat too!
Well, that would depend if you are really referring to the tuba.. OR... one of the Baritones... Not all Tubas have the fourth compensating valve. The same goes for baritones/euphoniums.
its not really that hard to play flight of the bumblebee ur just sluring the notes and you need a lot of air to play... i've been for 4 years =) and euphniums are one of the best
You saying tongueing them would be easier?!! To play this properly is $£$%&%^£ hard! Well done if you can to any standard its a feat! What band/group are you in?
this song isn't really as hard as you would think. if you study the chomatics a ton, then you already pretty much know the whole song if you find out the pattern and first note in each key change. for instance, on the pattern with the first note as a concert d, the fingerings are really easy and even a non-expert like myself can play the pattern pretty damn fast. the hard part is really just moving your fingers fast enough- like this incredible group. Amazing skill.
....when im not playing all i do is the fingerings for chromatic over and over again as fast as possible (unless im in a performance or talking to someone...oh and i play trumpet)
That was AWESOME! And I love the ending when that euponium player (I think it's an euphonium) does that little run of high notes! It sounded so awesome. I play euphonium and I don't think, no I KNOW I will NEVER be as good as you guys. Just the plain ol' truth. All I can say is WOW and that was an awesome 2 minutes of my life!!!
Tubas dont really need a 5 octave range unless your doing hard solos but even those only get as high as a high G (G above staff) You really only use at most 4 octaves for any professional tuba player. the added 5th would just sound like a squeak and it would just kill the song
If this wasn't a slight variation on David Taylor's arrangement, his is at least very similar and it's available for free. Go to www[dot]geocities[dot]com[fwd slash]dtmusicuk/?200624 (YouTube doesn't allow URL's to be posted). It's a fine arrangement our trombone quartet performed a few times and the price is right.
