Trombones have a really different tone to trumpets in the end. Provides a different feel playing in the trumpet's lower register and fills out the tenor. Trombone high notes don't really sound like trumpet low notes, different tone colour. Take it from a trombone player, though no doubt a lot of you commenters probably are players anyway.

@BaseballproDiGy94 Dude! A trombone is not a trumpet. there both brass, but the similarities end there. trombone uses slide, trumpet uses keys. They have a different note range, different sizes mouth pieces and trombone reads bass cleft, and trumpet treble cleft. And then most importantly, they sound quite different.

@samiojo smh! trombones can have valves also. im sure that i know what both instruments are. just bcuz they read in different clefs doesnt mean anything. u can make a trombone sound like a trumpet if ur a good enough player. trombone high notes sound like trumpet low notes kid! :)

@BaseballproDiGy94 yes you can get a trombone with valves, but they are not common, a standard trombone uses a slide. different clefs mean different pitch and part. the key word in all of this, different, you claim they are the same. the high notes on a trombone are the same notes as the low ones on trumpet, but they sound very different. even if they had the same tone on a central Bb (which they dont) playing one in its high range and the other in its low range gets a much different tone,

i actually agree with KlumpAliasJohnRambo. he got a good point wotojld and what u say about the sound is not completly true, yes u can get sound almost the same but not exact the same. Tuba is made more for the purpose of concerts and make much rounder sounds than the susaphone.
