Every now and then I go nostalgic and take out my 45's and play them. Just thought for the fun of it I would look it up on YouTube and to my surprise it was here. Thanks for keeping the older music alive!
HOMER'S ASS GROOVE HA HA HAThat's Not funny! What's funny is that unless it has to do with somebody's ass, it's not amusing to you. A log of shit has to do with an ass too, yet, It's not funny or cool, WELL WHY NOT? REMEMBER when homer was takin' A shit?! do you post that on "I've been working on the railroad"? well why the hell not? You've proven yourself to be as stupid as Sarah Palin, so WHY NOT? Why not be TOTALY STUPID at ALL TIMES?!
circa 1971 did we dance to this tune in high school, did we just.the party was not complete until this was spun on the record player.wonderful memories
Yeah LoveIsLove1100, MrNiteOwl is right...I was one who searched for music at your age and found a whole new world...when I was your age it was still the 80s and aside from the underground punk and what was to be dubbed "alternative" later,,,most music at that time truly sucked (sorta resembles things today i.e. beiber, etc. Anyway, search and share the music you find...your life will be richer..A whole new world opened up for me ...
Love this song and all the un restricted soul it has. Love it. But as woman, after really feeling what he is saying ...... it sounds like he all a taker and not a giver in any way at all. Too bad. Kind of a turn off.
Yes that actually is a nice version. I am more partial to the version by Tony Allen and the Champs but both are good to the ears and feel good to hear.
Having an appreciation for many different types and styles of music starting at your age is to be admired. you will only find more music to enjoy. Share it with your friends they will probably like it to.
@LoveIsLove1100: You are probably a whole lot hipper than your friends, because this is real soul music, not that stuff they play today. 'Course, I'm biased because I lived through those times, but I think the soul music of the 1970s is far better than today's version. Enjoy!
Yes this was done in the early 70's - I have some great memories of this mans music , even as i happen to be a "white boy" ... I was incarcerated in a Youth Facilty for being a Juvenile Delinquent and every nite the Adult Guard of our Facilty would play a few record albums the old 33 size until we went to sleep and he would play this King Floyd Album every nite , I loved it because it comforted me on those tough times . Nobody ever complained and i think we all loved that record .
i didnt know this was king floyd. dagggg. learn something new everyday. malaco really turned out some hard hitters didnt they. malaco is going to go down in history as Staxx and the others. the difference is they have turned out gospel and r&b.
A #1 hit for King Floyd on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 219th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It was the first #1 R&B song of 1971. It also hit #6 on the Top 40 charts.
let me tell you one thing, i am the whitest guy you could know, and i cannot dance and dont ever, but when i hear these old songs, james brown, stevie w anyone i cant help but dance around my appartment.
I'm dying right now (of laughter). I used to sing this ALL the time when I was a kid. My daddy said I got it from some commercial. I remember loving this song so much singing "Sookie sookie now" everyday. Lol I had to be like 5 years old. Memories :)
@INDIEcentExposure wow i wish i could spend time with my parents when i was young my father died after i was born and my mom worked like 12 hours a day so i really had no parents much
There must be something in the water. Why don't singers sound like this anymore? Where are these men hiding? With the exception of Anthony Hamilton & a few others, dudes nowadays sound like they've been inhaling helium. I'm not saying everybody has to sound the same or ol skool. But, you just don't hear that RICH authentic tone anymore. Nowadays, you have to stop a bum on the street to get some real talent. Crazy!
@MrNiteOwl I was thinking about that commercial the other day. I remember being a kid and was dying laughing at that commercial how the guy poured the water into the woman's empty milk glass. I miss those 1990's commercials.
I wonder which came first Rick Danko's move me or this !? One was ripped from the other for sure. Both great songs for the genre in which they were intended though.
Groove Me came first. It was released in 1970. Move Me has a record date of 10/25/1972. That is two years later. It is really slowed down but I can hear what mean.
The Blues Brothers did a good rendition of this tune only with more of a reggae swagger. I love the crackling of the record as this original tune plays.
Yeah isn't that wild. New Orleans DJ George Vinnett is said to have been the first to flip it over getting it started. It got as high as # 6 on the charts.
This is weird... because it makes me think of Fat Albert.
