  • Sounds like a video card is failing if it has to heat up to start running means you need to re flow the graphics chip just take it out and use a Heat gun to reflow it.

Need help let me know ill try and do a tutorial soon for everyone on how to do it. also how to clean out the main fan/ heat-sink and clean it out if dusty.

  • @BLUEPUNK86 I have had the same issue today. Can you provide some help on how to "re-flow" the graphics card. Thanks in advance :)

  • November 2010 update - the replacement unit is now dead as well, doing the same thing except that it will never actually start. It just come up blank every time. I'm very sorry I wasted my money on this computer.

  • hey i have same problem how do i fix it?

  • honestly my gx630 sucks.... the video card isnt work at all.... and the cpu isalways close to 120f to damn hot!!!

  • @vnvbuho 120f isnt that hot for a cpu

  • Sounds like the GPU isnt soldered right on the motherboard....when it heats up...it gets connection but not when its cold...i have a 2 year old acer aspire 5920G and i have overclocked my gpu some...and now i have blackscreen...the machine boots up just fine..but i have no picture...but i guess since i overcklocked it...the gpu chip has overtime jumped from its solder points...its a known issue with cards from nvidia i myself have a 8600m gt 256 in mine!..But im gonna fix it myself!

  • they will say "sorry, but we run all of our diagnostics tools and we could't found nothing extraordinary, It's is totally OK" like they did with my friend 2 months before... i haven't got time and tolerance for this but first or last I'll be neurotic if i won't do nothing... I tried the notebook with xp & vista too, with the last & not last drivers... Please help, what is to be done?

  • Hi All! I've got the same problem... I bought an msi gx630x-007 in hungary about 2008 november, but it's crashing all day of the week... i always see bluescreen at least 3 times in a day... "memory management"... "irql less ot not equal" etc... And than Javbuff2008 said, it starts sometimes, then it will not start... so it goes day after day... i should take back to service, but the hungarian msi service partner company (Albacomp) is a bullshit, and i'm afraid they won't do nothing because...

  • The same thing is happening to my Alienware Aurora M770,. It starts sometimes, then it will not start, I can just hear the fan and Cd running, all lights are on. I run it with battery and ASC both connected

  • my msi work perfect it just over heat on the power supply but it still works and runs great 730 is what i have

  • Comment removed

  • what is the different from 630 to a MSI GX730-043US is it the same

  • The screen is 17" on the GX730, and 15.4" on the 630

  • this happens to mine when it goes to sleep except i have to unplug everything and the battery, and boot again to make it work

  • well i live on florida so i think i won't have any problem

  • SO is MSI! good laptops or just another plastic from taiwan??..

  • im pretty sure its alluminium.. i have it and its not plastic case

  • msi makes good proucts imo. they've been in the game for a bit.

  • i have this machine but i dont know how to configure te touch bottoan p1 and eco how i configure_?

  • Called MSI, they said they had no idea why this is happeneing and to try setting bios defaults. Well they were already defaults when I bought it, and I also flashed the bios Monday and that involves setting defaults anyways.

So I now have the choice of RMA to MSI for repair or Return to Newegg for exchange. I think i'm going through newegg first.

  • I recieved mine on Thursday.

Thursday night, first boot- Battery power = same issue. I figured the battery just wasent charged yet.

Friday morning......Battery power.. = Same issue

Saturday morning Battery power.. = Same issue

Monday morning..Battery power.. = Same issue

Tueday morning, AC POWER = Same issue

  • does any1 else who purchased their GX630 from newegg realised that the warranty sticker @ the back of the machine has been broken???

  • that happened to me. I have horrible crashes caused by something broken on the laptop, I already had the motherboard replaced and it's still crashing. Plus after it crashes I have the problem shown on this video.

I'm never buying from newegg again.

  • i think my problems are caused by memory corruption. I need new RAM cuz i've been blue screening.

  • i purchased a gx620 was awesome until day 4 when wireless decided to stop working for some apparent reason... but other then that a replacement ws ther within a 5 dayz so not to shabby at all.

  • i put my computer on a plate it has been eaten

  • i hope ur replacement is working alright.

i just got mine yesterday from newegg. it seems alright so far even tho i got a blue screen once.

my question is this, does any1 else who has one of these notice a constant drop in their wifi connection??

also when i plug speakers and headphones into the jack nothing happens and the internal speakers just keep playing while i get nothing from what i've plugged in. =S

any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I am prolly gonna get this one too..

  • How has your MSI GX630-028US been running lately? I see you purchased yours @ New Egg; they're now $800 with free shipping; dunno if they're gonna sell these laptops for anything less.

Also what's your take on the Acer Aspire AS6930-6560 for $750? I've heard both good, and bad concerning Acer laptops.

  • Can someone confirm if the GX630-028US has wifi draf-n protocol?

I'm seeing conflicting specs with some sites saying it only has b/g while others saying b/g/n. The MSI demo site says it has b/g/n.

The model on Amazon says only b/g, but then the newegg one says b/g/n, but they're the same model!

    Thanks

    LC

  • no no...im sure it has b/g/n

  • Ah, cool. Thanks

  • Hopefully its just the odd melon that you got, and not a major problem, since I'm seriously looking at getting the GX630. Might get the GX620, since it has a bigger HDD to start with, especially if what I've heard about it coming with a 45GB preinstalled partition, which would only give me 200GB or so on the GX630.

Hope your new one works, let us know please!

  • hmm i just opened mine up today, everything seems to be working fine, except it has a very thin scratch about 3 inches long across the center of the screen, only noticeable when the screen is black. great laptop tho, i play crysis on high settings and it works perfect.

hope your new one works good

  • i think i saw your review on this

  • aside from a little battery charging huccup the replacement I received seems to be working well so far. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Maybe a dead graphics card? Definitely send it back.

  • I suppose anthing's possible, but it seems doubtful to me. I'd think the computer would have to start for windows to screw it up. Also, it finally died all together. When i went to send it back, it wouldn't even light up.
