Man, those last CBS graphics were sleek. I hope they find a way into the next contract to do some NASCAR coverage, as they still do the best ot covering sports than any other network. Oh, and funny story, I think I heard that starting grid music in a local restaraunt commercial the other day. Not too sure though
@continentalrcinglg Yes, I've noticed recently, but for a while he had just vanished. Start and park, or rather as I'd prefer to call it, field filler is a long way from when he won the Nationwide Series championship in the Nesquik car and man did he drink A LOT of Nesquik that year!
In Canada, what is your CBS equivalent, or do you guys get CBS, NBC, and ABC as well. I know your two main networks for sports are CBC and TSN, Just curious about the others.
yea TSN just basically takes the ESPN/FOX or whoever's feed and broadcast it on there channel TSN is actually owned by ESPN so its usually mostly ESPN races since we have FOX, CBS, ABC, TNN, TBS up here. TSN only really needs to show the races on ESPN, FX, TNT, or for the people who dont have digital cable SPEED Channel, luckly i get that channel so im good.
Not sure if you know the answer to this or not. In the opening, Greg tosses it upto the booth and Mike goes over the finishing order for the just completed Busch race. Did CBS just have the announcers wait until Saturday to call the race, or did they call it on Thursday, and splice the tape into the live footage?
This is they way nascar should race for the daytona 500 get rid of the top 35 rule for all races .

I think that Dan wrecked in both qualifying races in 1998 and 1999. I don't think he ever made a Daytona 500.

Great find!!! Thanks do you have anymore of these types of races?

The 1998-2000 CBS NASCAR theme was good, but the 1995-1997 theme was the greatest theme CBS had for any sport.

Im so surprised that it took them until 2001 to actually show these races live.
Even in 2000 they didnt show the 125's until Saturday after the Busch race

Got a question...

Yes we get CBS, NBC, and ABC
we DONT get ESPN, TNT, FX, so anytime races were on those channels TSN would air them.
CBC does not show racing at all.
battalionfan888 3 years ago 2
I didn't think CBC showed racing. They're primary sports are CFL and NHL.
Thanks. Mainly I was curious how you got the sattellite feeds to the 1987 and 1988 Firecracker 400s.
Thanks for letting me know.

i just got those this year from somebody in the states
battalionfan888 3 years ago 3
@racermac1988 CBC used to air the Canadian Champ Car rounds and the Canadian Grand Prix back in the day; not anymore.

They probably called the the pre race live, then spliced in the already existing audio later
rustyshackleford01 2 years ago
That's innovative for sports coverage...
