  • It is a very aerodynamical design, and I think that it has been a good idea to put engines in all cars and not at the extremities ,like the european engineers have done. This device allows a more distrbuited trasmission of couple-force to the railways and avoids to have a super heavy locomotor that usures rails

    it's cramp in 500 trains because of its cylindrical shape.

    following N700 series was designed much comforter than this.

    and though 500 series have faster top speed(300km/h), that's only in straight area,

    the average velocity through all along the line, N700 is faster.

    (N700 have good acceleration and can go through corners in no brake by declining inner.)

    that's the main reason why 500s are being replaced.

    500 series is still loved for its eel-like cool looking.

  • @moshiomoshimoshi The weird thing is that 500 series on Tokyo-Hakata route took 4h49min, on N700 takes 4h50min, (same stops) capacity of 500 series: 1324 pax, N700-700-300 series, 1323 pax.

    Accelreration of N700 is better only in the 0-to 200km/h range

    from the 200 to 300km/h range, 500 series accels better, specially going uphills.

    Weight: N700=715 ton. 500 series = 685 ton.

    and the list goes on and on... lol xD
